Cor-Omega Kicks Ass With The Fat Fast?

Chris Shrugart, thanks for a great suggestion. Cor-Omega has to be one of the best supplements ever developed. I think it tastes great and saves me from those horrid fish burps I use to get from fish oil caps. My problem is I eat like half a box of 28 a day, which comes to roughly 28 grams of omega-3 per day. I know Udo Erasmus warns against this as causing EFA imbalance but the article in T-mag this past week by Eric N. seems to make me think I’m okay doing this. If I could afford it, I would do Brock’s Fat Fast with Cor-Omega’s as the only source forb my fat intake. That would come to 50 grams of fish oil a day. Could this cause problems to either my fat loss goals or health? Thanks fellas.

Could you describe more about this product, it sounds like something that would interest me. I can’t stand thoise fish oil burps. What is it, where can ya get it?

If you are taking that much omega 3s I would strongly suggest that you take at least 800 IU of vitamin E per day.

It’s basically a fish oil supplement made pallatible. Go to coromega.com or do a T-mag search for “coromega” for an article written by Chris Shrugart.

Scott, why do you suggest this? Is there a health risk to taking that much omega 3’s? Thanks

just a note: you can get a free sample by going to the website. I also found out they carry this stuff in my local grocery store (Jewel-Osco).

Actually I looked into it and you are not getting that many grams of omega-3s read the label you are getting the same amount per serving as you would from fish oil caps. JMB suggests 6-10 gr of epa’s, Not 6-10 gr of omega-3s meaning you would have to eat damn near your whole box of cor-omega to get the results you are looking for. there is only 350 epa per packet so to get 6 gr you would need to take in 18 packets just to get 6 grams with how expensive that crap is it just isn’t worth it. On the fat fast I would use udos choice way more economical and you get all the omega-3s 6s and 9s you need. You will also not get the fish burps from udos oil. If you want omega-3s specifically then save some damn money and buy Dale Alexander’s emulisified omega-3 fish oil concentrate at 1000+epa per tablespoon and 10 bucks per 12fl oz bottle it is a way better deal and you avoid fish burps and it tastes goooooddd… Anyway good luck.

Knuckle, are you sure JMB didn’t mean 10 grams of fish oil not just the EPA’s. In this past week’s T-mag article by Eric N. he reccommends taking 10 grams of fish oil not 10 grams of EPA’s. If this is the case you would only need to take 5 packets of the Coromega.

Omega 3 fatty acids (flax and fish oils) are very easily oxidized i.e. they go rancid very easily. Thus if you are eating large quantities of easily oxidized fats, you should take antioxidants that prevent this oxidation in the body. This is why it is important to keep any fish or flax oil that is not in capsules in the refrigerator.

Quick comparison: Barlean’s Flax oil (liquid, comes in a bottle) has 6200 mg Omega-3 per serving, 33 servings per bottle, at a cost of about $14 (that’s what I paid). That comes to about 7 cents/gram. Coromega has 650mg per serving (that’s ten times less), 28 servings per box, at about 20 bucks a box. That’s $1.09/gram. So…in comparing just these two products, coromega costs almost 16 times more than the liquid oil. Is it worth the taste and convenience? Hell no…I can’t believe I just bought a box of this stuff!

Scott, thanks for the info.

Rosheem, you make a good point but with the glax you have to worry about conversion of the omega-3 to EPA and DHA. However, if only 650mg is from omega-3’s then what comprises the rest of the 2 grams of fat per serving?

Knuckledragger, where do you get that Dale Alexander emulsified oil from? I can only find the caps.

t-dudes, i bought omega-3 fish oil caps for 3 cents a gram. 180mg Epa, 120 mg dha per 1gram cap. check it out at puritanspride.com I just drink them with low carb protein shakes and don’t really have any problems. I’m taking about 50 grams a day for my fat needs. laters pk

coromega label states 2g total fat:
.5 g saturated, 650mg Omega-3; EPA 350 mg, DHA 230 mg. So…I don’t know where the rest of the fat is. Damn little packets are so small I don’t see how much of anything fits in there.

Spanky checkout vitamineshop.com or go there so a search on omega-3 dale alexander or there is another by carlson labs too that has the same stats.

The time I am referenceing is when trying to build insulin sensativity as I see it fat fast would be a great time to do that as it really screws up your insulin sensativity. see this article Strength Training, Bodybuilding & Online Supplement Store - T NATION
Then you will get what I mean he specifically says 6gr of epa.

KD, great link. Thanks.
So according to this you would need roughly 10 packets of CorOmega a day which would come out to about $7.00 a day. Yeah, it is pretty expensive but it is also a high quality product. I guess your budget will have to determine what you can do in this case. But if you stuck to it, no matter what your EPA/DHA product, over time hopefuly insulin sensitivity would be greatly improved.

It probably is best to have some EPA/DHA and some flax. For those who can I would recommend eating salmon, sardines, mackeral, herring, eel, etc as the source of EPA/DHA. If you can’t stand the taste, just bury it under a taste you do like, mustard, tomato sauce, strong spice mix, etc.

JJ, That is correct sir “Thank you drive through.”

how do i figure out how many calories are in dave alexander’s emulsified omega 3 oil. says the EPA and DHA content but thats it. thanks.
