is that like Hakuna Matata in mandarin?
Very close. I daresay they ripped it off. You ever seen a Chinese Lion Dance? Same shit. Jet Li did it right at the beginning of the movie.
Destiny or Brian?
The look of a man that just drank an exceptionally tasty bottle of piss.
When I first saw his show I kinda thought “that’s pretty hard core” then came the revelation that he was actually staying at wilderness resorts. And still drinking his own pee. Then I was like “Oh, he’s one of Those.”.
Look at that jaw! How much roids is he on?!
Poor man’s Ray Mears.
He may teach you how to drink piss from a snake, but Ray would teach you how to not end up in a position where you have to drink piss from a snake.
We do leave kids very confused about life. You’re young, your view of the world is nearly comic book, it will change but that doesn’t mean you can’t develop some useful skills now.
Have a read of some mindfulness stuff for dealing with internal chatter. This is important as chatter has a pretty big impact on performance.
why would you want to get rid of ego? Having a big ego is what drives so many to accomplish greatness.
Despite what you may have heard on YouTube or heard from your mates, being an alpha is simply being a leader. Using the word alpha is probably the easiest way to not be an alpha. Why? Because all young men want to be alpha and that in itself inteferes with a crucial part of being a leader; having your own goals and path towards these goals. If you follow the trends and crowds you are not leading.
To be a leader you must also challenge yourself often. Not just physically but also mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The easy way out is what everyone else strives for. Don’t be like them.
Another attribute of a leader is self-confidence. Not an over inflated ego with boisterous claims and general loudness, no, a quite self belief that you can achieve the high goals you have set.
Leaders are also not people pleasers. They do what must be done or what should be done and they do it with conviction. It is not always easy and it may cause issues, but having a strong moral compass and acting on that, is another important leadership quality.
There are many more leadership qualities and all of them can be learnt. It won’t be a quick and easy journey but it can be a rewarding one. Just stop calling it alpha.
Is it true that ego breeds insecuriy?
I won’t lie, I have an insecurity that has been eating at me for a while. I know it might sound it irrational, but I want to stay with my current girlfriend through college. She’s leaving for college in August, to SIU- Carbondale, a party school where many girls become sluts. Yesterday I was up talking to her on the phone about future plans and college and stuff,we do that a lot, and are on the same page about staying together through college. But I was feeling pretty insecure and probably voiced it to her more than I should have. My parents and cousins say that they are 90% sure that, even though she’s a good girl from the little that they know, that she’s going to get “turned out” at SIU, and that I should say goodbye to my girlfriend once she’s gone, because it won’t work and what not. None of those assumptions are founded off of who she is as a person. We communicate about everything other people say and do. She promised me that she wouldn’t drink with any guys, cheat on me, leave me for someone else, let any other guys touch her. I just need to trust her…why am I having such a hard time with letting go of my mind? I have been let down and seen others get let down in the past…my ex was somewhat of a slut. I didn’t feel the same way about her that I do about my current girlfriend. Is it my ego getting in the way? She’s never given me a reason NOT to trust her, she tells me she loves me every day and I know she does care about me, she tells me about every guy that tries to hit on her, down to the random guy on the bus that won’t take their eyes off her (she’s very pretty, I am good looking too). But I know I’m 17, and she’s going into a new environment, with college age men. She’s not even a party person. Lol, like, the last party she went to was for the senior luncheon, she said that they were dancing and shaking ass and that she didn’t join because I wasn’t there. I don’t have a reason to not trust her, I do trust her, but I want to completely remove all doubt and fleeting suspicions that tend to fill the unknown void I have about the future. Is it my ego?
Ego is completely worthless and isn’t what drives people to greatness. In fact, it’s probably the single greatest obstacle to greatness.
thats the dumbest shit ive ever heard… Donald trump, kanye west, maywheather, mcgregor, etc.
Every successful person has an ego. Some just dont bother hiding it because they’re higher on narcissism.
You know who had no ego? Buddha did. I get that there is an ego that stops you from doing anything because you don’t want to fail, but thats a defense mechanism, not true ego. True ego doesn’t stop you from failing, it drives you to greatness.
Ego and narcissism aren’t necessarily positively correlated, you realize that right? Highly ego-tistical people tend to be highly avoidant (as someone mentioned above) everyone knows a guy that ‘used’ to bench 400lbs but has elbow problems, or knee problems. Everyone knows a guy that, ‘could have made it’ in a college sport but for whatever reason washed out.
For every highly successful narcissistic and ego driven individual, you will find just as many in the trailer park.
And you’re correct, every successful person has an ego…because every person has an ego. To what degree they are developed, controlled, and utilized are vastly different.
So that may be the ‘dumbest shit (you’ve) ever heard’ but it probably isn’t the dumbest shit ever heard by others.
What is the difference between ego and true ego?
Edit: I believe you are using the terms ego and confidence interchangeably, and if so then I understand your point, but they are not the same thing.
Aren’t you like 15-years-old. What the fuck do you know about anything?
no not really. you need to think you’re something special to achieve something special. Ego is the most important thing a man has, and it impacts everything he does in his life.
As long as your ego doesn’t get so big it clouds your judgement or you become scared to fail, then the ego will only drive you to achieve.
Also, the Despace guy is confusing narcissism woth Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
The former is a love and respect for oneself that is only developed when you earn it. And every successful person is narcissistic to a degree. The latter is a destructive is a destructive peraonality disorder that forms when a child is neglected love in his childhood. Dont confuse the 2.
Cool, bro. Good luck with that.
No, you need a work ethic.
Also work ethic, or pride, or confidence.
No, I’m not.
Narcissism is the pursuit of gratification from vanity or egotistic admiration of one’s own attributes.
Confidence is a feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities
Notice one is for personal gratification and glorification while the other is earned appreciation.
Narcissism is not an earned feeling, confidence is. Don’t confuse the two. One comes with no experience and is “given” the other comes with lots of experience and is earned.
nah bro. you dont know what narcissism means. Also, you realize you are literally arguing semantics right?
Ego encompasses everything you do. It’s what determines how hard you’re willing to go to achieve your goals, and it determines how much failure you can endure and keep going.
Everything you will ever do in this world is a manifestation of your ego, meaning, your assessment of your personal value and abilities.
Ego is the self.
and without it, you’d be meditating all day just like Buddha and monks do to achieve nirvana.
And what did Buddha believe in? He believed in non-self. Remember that
