By the way, what are no-sets?

Good job sybersnot!!! It must have taken you years of training to have a grip like that!!! God, wish I could have gave that thing a try…

Is there going to be a contest for the 500???

I’m up for that!!!

Before you can get the gripper closed, you have to set it just right in your hand. A no set is when you get it set in your hand with only one hand, as opposed to using your other hand to close it slightly so you can get your fingers around it.

Thanks alot, im needing some training tips because I had the coc trainer and i could close it with two fingers and a thumb, so i went to the #2. It was much harder than I thought. Im about an eighth of an inch of closing it but things change from day to day.

The handles are so big on this thing I haffta use a set on this gripper, it’s a slight set but a set nonetheless.

There are 5 Holle brothers that certed COC; they are in order of cert - Nathan, Craig, Gavin, Jay and Kayne.

Of the 5, only Nathan has officially certed on the IM #4.

Gavin, Craig and Jay have all bent the IM red nail.

BTW, the Holle-It-Up is a Inch DB trainer, basically a thick handle like the Inch DB to which you can put weights on it.

sybersnott

Cheers for that. i lost one of their relatives!

Is the holle dumbellmore than that?

on the website, it states that its slightly offset and wants to fall out of your grip.

have you used one at all, i am getting into grip strength and i am looking for some worthwhile tools (any tips, see other thread re grip training.)

cheers

Well, basically the Inch is a very heavy thick handled DB… just trying to pick it up it’ll want to fall out of your grip.

You can buy the Holle-It-Up OR you can make one yourself. I have made a few thick handled DB handles and then you just put on the amount of weight that you want.

Reminder to Grip God contestants: The deadline is this Wednesday!

Here we go…getting it set in my hand

damn’t I’ll try again…(have tried to post this three times)

and as close as its gonna get…

I’ve been bested. Admittedly this isn’t a picture of my best attempt, but I don’t have a digital camera so I was a bit limited in my photo opportunity. Anyway, being the fool I am, I attempted to close the gripper for the picture during my deadlifting workout (I was using a double overhand grip on that to boot). I’m a moron! Anyway, this is all I could muster last night at that time. I think I had the handles about 2cm closer on my best squeeze, but they didn’t touch so I suppose it doesn’t matter. It was fun to try and I’m going to keep getting after that thing! Thanks for the chance!

Sybersnott: We’re sending you several free Biotest items as your prize. We’ll contact you and you can pick whatever you want!

Thanks to all! We’ll do another contest soon!

Good work everyone! Now if I could only close a 250! LOL

I’m going to make a point of closing that friggin’ gripper by June. I’m going to post a picture up here of me closing it as soon as I do. Thanks for the gripper T-Nation and thanks for the challenge!

That’s the spirit!! NEVER give up!

The HG400 is no walk in the park, even with guys that have experience with grippers, like me, it wasn’t easy.

Again, I’d like to thank those that gave me the opportunity to participate in this challenge! Thanks again!!

I would like to know how hard it can be for a 16 year old boy (like me) to close the HG 100. I have just started doing deadlifts and I did 15 reps at 80kg (176lbs) with no straps. That was my first real deadlift and Im going to try 220Ibs next week. Im not saying that Im strong (bacause Im not)but I need to know wich one of theese grippers you think would be best for me.

Do you think that the HG 100 Is good for me as a beginner or would the HG 150 be a better choice?

Sorry for the bad grammar but Im just a kid from Sweden that wants to improve my grip strength.
