My sister who is getting married Aug 1 sounds very similar to your wife in terms of training (also not fat). I’ve been trying to get her to strength train, eat better so she looks dramatically different when all our cousins come in a couple months. I even bought her this book written by Lou Schurler, Cassandra Forsythe, and Alwyn Cosgrove, but no dice!

Unfortunately she loves some class called “Body Pump” (you don’t want to know) and Spin classes.
BODYPUMP¢?¢ is the original barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome instructors and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for ¢?? and fast!

Oh well, it doesn’t look THAT bad at first sigth. I, Bodybuilder could even be described as such.
I, Bodybuilder like Bodypump? Seriously? It’s not even close. I looked into Bodypump because someone once asked me about it and it’s basically going through a complex - you use one weight for all of the exercises. Complexes are good, but they will not necessarily increase strength. So, it’s a complex led by an instructor set to music. Istvan Javorek would probably shake his head at that. BTW - Javorek was using complexes to condition his athletes when most Crossfitters were still pooping in their diapers. But you’re right that there are worse things than Bodypump, especially if someone puts in the effort.

Here’s what I learned having been married for a while now {does an old-guy grunt as he sits down in his chair to deliver a cranky middle-aged guy speech, the kind your dad used to give that you never wanted to listen to}. Just be happy that your wife/significant other is doing some exercise. My wife, and I think many women, like exercise class environments, especially if the class is led by a woman and there are other women there. Part of that is they feel intimidated by guys, and that’s understandable since many guys who like to lift are total jerks. Don’t be one of those jerks by putting down any effort at exercise. I picked on my wife for doing Zumba, but the truth is she also trains for triathlons. I have encouraged this and training for an event is very motivating. Although I think that she should maximize her time training swim/bike/run and supplement with weight training, I’m not going to make fun of the Zumba. What will happen is that she’ll eventually reach a fat-loss plateau with all of the cardio and ask me what to do. I will casually suggest she should lift weights. She’ll take my advice and the fat-loss starts again. This has happened before and it will happen again. She should know by now that cardio alone is not optimal for fat-loss. Oh well. I’m just happy she exercises. Don’t push or criticize - just encourage. Be happy with small steps.

Sorry to hear about the loss of the baby, your wife did a great job losing the weight.

My condolences and congratulations, as appropriate.

I’m sorry for you and your wifes loss :frowning:
sounds like she is in a good place now mentally and physically…

I have the opposite problem and can’t for the life of me get my husband to train with me!! :frowning:

Yeah… but after our 1 week vacation in an all-included (read all-you-can-eat buffet all day long) we’re almost back to square one

Fortunately, my wife works out, but she never wants to train with me. I’ll train with you. Maybe we could get on that wife swap reality show.

Thibs! What supplements she`s taking?

haha, he’s not fat by any means…6’5"/230lbs
just lazy and probably secretly intimidated…

Mike- reverse psychology might work! hmmm

Except for protein shakes and Anaconda… nothing. She doesn’t like supplements except for shakes.

Hey Thib,

you said your wife was eating 100-150 grams of chicken…I have also seen in some of your previous post where you eat 200grams or so per meal…is that pre cooked or cooked measurement? and how much protein do you count that as? (say 100grams cooked)

just curious as to how you count your macros I guess…thanks man

All measures are cooked. As for how many grams of protein, simply look for a food composition table and you will be able to calculate pretty much anything.

Thanks man…Hopefully the Habs can knock off the Capitals tonight…they are looking good so far

The Habs can do well against teams that open up the play and have a below average defense, which explains why they fare well against teams like the Caps and Pens even if the later are a lot better on paper. BUT they (Habs) have a lot of trouble against teams that focus on defense.

They are my second team considering that…

 1. They are the former Nordiques
 2. I’m in Colorado a lot

NORDIQUES!!! so awesome…can you imagine they were still the Nordiques when Patrick Roy got traded? there would have been riots! Caps happen to be stomping the Habs right now… what can ya do?

Its so hard to say whos gonna win it…goaltending, goaltending, goaltending…Anderson looks insane… 50 plus saves last night…impressive

LOL! This thread mirrors the typical guy conversation. We start out talking about our wives, and end up talking sports!

I just figured out how to meet CT in person. Next time you’re in Colorado, I’ll bribe you with Avs tickets.

Or if you are in Colorado Springs while I’m there, simply drop by Biotest’s HQ. Tim often likes to welcome smart and respectful readers.
