From Dr. Joel Seedman:

Heavy renegade rows are one of the few all-in-one exercises that demand such a fine balance. When performed correctly they’re a combination of back strength, core stability, anti-rotation, shoulder stability, lumbo pelvic control, and hip stability. Renegade rows eliminate the ability to use excessive momentum, rotation, and low back thrusting commonly witnessed in rowing movements.

If you’re unable to use a load equivalent to your body weight, then you’re likely lacking strength and function in the aforementioned areas.

Good luck to everyone, not sure I could do this.

Ugly attempt. 1st 3 went pretty well, but the support side DB started rolling away when I switched sides. Would be quite a bit easier with hex DBs. BW 197

I’m going to try this though my dumbbells only go to 100 so I’ll be a little shy of the standard. Also, it is strange to me that Seedman went from writing for this site to what he’s now posting on IG.

Joel provides a lot of training gems: great tips, exercises, and methods that get results.

Yes, some of his stuff seems “out there.” We saw a little of this when he was contributing regularly. Like, he’d send us an article on 15 triceps exercises and we’d edit it down to 10, removing the ones that may work great but were just unrealistic – things most people either couldn’t or wouldn’t do in a regular gym.

Again, he gets results, but the setup (and the dozen accessories and specialty bars needed) for some of his stuff just wasn’t doable. Fun to watch though!

That was beyond impressive
