College Baseball Player

After breaking my leg this spring during the middle of my high school season i am now back to almost 100 percent. i am now starting to squat and run sprints and trying to get in shape for the upcoming baseball season. i am just wondering how much baseball is going to affect my lifting with all the running and stuff. i am a pretty serious lifter.

i have been working very hard the past year and a half. i have gained alot in muscle i was my highest squat before breaking my fibula was 405 and now its just going light becasue of leg. benching now is 275 and i can deadlift around 400. i have made some big improvents in the past year but how diffrent is college lifting going to be for baseball then now?

If any one cares 5-11 245

      Last Year This Year

Bench 205 275
Squat 275 400
Deadlift 315 400

thanks for all your support

The reason you havent gotten any answers is because someone with college baseball experience most likely hasnt stumbled across your thread yet. What sort of school will you be playing at (D1, D2, etc)?

From what I know, you will most likely be working with a much better and more knowledgable S&C coach at your college than when you were in high school…my high school baseball team ran 6 miles 3 times a week and rarely even lifted weights!

i am going to a junior college to play and what you said about or high school we hardly ran mostly in the ofseason like maybe 1.5 miles 3 days a week.

i usally ran after and we also did ab workouts but i can wait to finally go somewhere and play baseball where everyone is serious about playing the game. but like you said about not lifting most school hardly do it anymore because speed is much more important thanks for responding by the way

I know this post is pretty dated - But I think the most important things you failed to address are what position you play, and what your baseball goals are.

If lifting is more important to you then long term baseball success - then it changes what you need to do to be able to compete at a JUCO level.

But if you’re trying to transfer to D1 - or get signed, its a different story.
