Coach Davies, I was reading a past issue of T-MAg And at the End of the article u said before u do the workout u formatted u would do some speed work. What kind of speed work do u do i am trying to increase my 40 yd dash, 10 yd dash the box and 100 yd shuttle. Also I played midget football up until i was about 12 yrs old and i was very good then when highchool came i was too lazy to play until my senior year. I trained from my junior year until my senior year. We did strenght tests and such i did 330 bench, squatted 425 for 10 reps which they considered a 525 max or something like that from some chart power cleaned 225 for 5 times. My 40 yd dash at one point was 4.7 but at testing was a 4.9. At the time i was 6’0 tall and 215 lbs I was going out for A D lineman Previously in the year i somehow pinched a nerve in my neck not related to football and had since recoverd and the coaches where aware fo this. I was in line to start my first year of highschool ball i knew all of the plays since i had studuied them. But during double sessions my neck started acting up and i had to sit out due to my arms hurting form the pinch i was out for a day or two but still at practice. After that they replaced me with this scrawny skinny kid who i was bigger stronger and faster then . THe end of the year I never started a game. Now tell me that isnt a disappointing story i have no respect for the coaches at my school now. I was thinking of maybe going out for college ball thats why i am inquireing about this but im a lil discouragesd due to my past experience. I feel im not good enough though i know i am good. DO u think if i was a walk on at a college i would have any chance at all. Could u give me some tips on making the team i know its a long shot but some advice is critical. sorry so long.
Do a search on this site for all the Coach Davies articles (if you haven’t allready). Next, do a forum search for all the Renagade Threads. Then start doing his workouts. If you like them and they are working for you (which if you do them they will) I suggest purchasing his 8-wk training program (available at infinity fitness), there is also a good amount of information on the site (particularily on the Bulliton Board, where Coach Davies and his assistants will answer your questions-I don’t know if he still uses this forum). Best of Luck.
My apologies on responding. Over the last week, my schedule has been brutal and to make matters worse, a lot of computer systems problems. In response to your questions, first of all, pursue your dreams and attack the issue with a renewed level of dedication. If you want this bad enough you definately can achieve it. I look forward in hearing from you. Kent, I truly appreciate your recommendation of the training programs! In faith, Coach Davies
