Close Call With Hernia

So I’ve been feeling a bit of pain in my right nut and my groin area and went to the doctor. He said luckily I didn’t have an inguinal hernia because the intestine didn’t go through the wall. However, he said that my right inguinal wall was very weak and just said that I should be very careful doing things like squats.

I asked him if I should take a week off and he said it would be a good idea and said also for me to closely monitor it. Has anybody else here had a similar close call with getting a hernia? If so, did it change the way you went about lifting?

The last thing I want is surgery but I also don’t want to be so cautious as to not make any good strength gains which I have been steadily making for quite some time now. Your replies are all greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Chris

If you have a weaked inguinal wall, why do you even want to risk doing things like squats? I understand you want to get stronger, but there’s alternative exercises you could be doing that won’t put as much stress on that area.

how does he know it is weak? and how does a weak one look different from a strong one? and he probably deals with non-weightlifters, surely a weightlifter would a stronger abdominal area than he would normaly see. maybe he is another armchair doctor
