Great fight. Couture caught a wicked hook, and dropped like a sack of potatos.
Hell yes. I was just about to post a message about it. Excellent fight. The cards before it were also bad ass.
Thanks for the spoiler in the title. I hadn’t seen it yet.
Why did Randy Couture, a world-class Romo-Greco wrestler, try to defeat a phenomenal kickboxer like Liddell standing up?
Randy should have known that Liddell would be better prepared to fight him standing up this time. The way that Randy won last time was a total aberration, and I am disappointed that Randy didn’t realize this.
Randy played right into Chuck’s hands, and Chuck did what great strikers do, he put him to sleep.
just finished watching the fight on pay per veiw in new zealand.not the result i wanted but well deserved, would love to see chuck vs silva…
Did you guys catch my post in another thread. The guys from the UFC show all got a contract. I hope these guys fight in the UFC 53
Change the title, you just ruined the fight for me. Its on the main fucking page. Jesus.

And this is why you have no friends.
Next time ammend SPOILER to your subject line, like everyone else on the net does.
He has no friends because he’s an accountant…

Did you expect them to magically appear on the ground with Randy on top? He was doing all he could to close the distance and get the clinch, but Chuck was backing up and circling away. For once Randy’s game plan didn’t work perfectly and we all see the results.

I have many, many friends - you’re just not one of them.
How about you stay the fuck away from a site that you know will be discussing the fight? Especially if you haven’t seen the fight yet.
Like I said - I’m not your goddamn wetnurse. I’ve been on T-Nation for over 3 years, and I have yet to see “SPOILER” in the title of anything.
uh, oh, rainjack’s throwing a tantrum. Quick someone throw him a Grow! bar or something! (jk) Please don’t go apeshit on me now!
I delibrately DIDN’T log on to any sites that would discuss the fight. I assumed if anyone on T-Nation was gonna discuss it they would have SPOILER in the title. Have some respect. We are pussies because we can’t see the thing live? God you’re ignorant.

Then why the hell did you log onto T-Nation if you deliberately didn’t log onto sites that would discuss the fight?
Respect for what? I posted a thread about the fight AFTER the fight was over.
You knew you couldn’t see the fight live, I didn’t know that. I’ll say it a third time - I am NOT you goddamn wetnurse.
What’s ignorant? Posting a thread about the fight, or loggin onto a freakin website knowing damn good and well you haven’t seen the fight and getting you panties in a wad because someone had the audacity to post about said fight.

What are you? 9? This is why you have no friends? Grow up.
Kuz
Heh, would this be considering stirring the shit?
… when I first logged in, upon waking, the title of this thread reflected the outcome of the fight.
Randy outstriking Chuck in their first fight an arberation? Don’t know if that’s fair. Chuck’s boxing style is very open and looping. In the first fight, Randy used a very tight guard and a linear game to control the inside and that is why he outboxed Chuck. It also set up his clinches, where Chuck has always proven to be tough but is really no match for Randy who may be the greatest clinch fighter in the world.
However, Chuck is very smart and he tightened his punching game up significantly. Within 30 seconds of the fight starting, you could see this. With the tighter boxing style, Randy was in trouble as he could not manage a clinch and was losing the punching exchanges. Chuck also hits like a freight train, and everybody saw the result.
I say go for best 2 out of 3. Randy is probably the best strategist there is and the rubber match could be a clinic on the importance of fight strategy, just like the first 2 fights were.

Good point. But I felt that Randy had Chuck pinned against the cage at one point not long before he was knocked out. Instead of attempting a powerful takedown like Matt Hughes or Matt Lindland, he chose to throw a flurry of hooks and upper cuts that missed. Then he ate the hook and subsequent overhand right.
He really wanted to strike with Liddell and decided to stand even when he had some great takedown opportunities. This especially surprised me because he had taken the thumb in the eye and his vision probably wasn’t quite 100%.

He definitely didn’t see that left hook.
There was a lot of discussion after the Shamrock fight about it possibly being fixed.
Any opinions about this fight being scripted? I didn’t see the fix in the Shamrock fight, nor do I think this one was fixed.
I just like hearing the conspiracy theories.
