I guess I’m surprised that on a fitness site, I’m being castrated for thinking kids should be given the best quality food possible.
I know if I were a parent, I’d be anal about the well-being of my child to the point that I could be Paul Chek’s kid ![]()

Maybe others thought I was being a douche in what I said, didn’t intend for it to be taken that way, rather just my opinion on the subject
So judging people’s parenting ability from the high horse of inexperience and ignorance is just an opinion now and not a putdown?
Oh, this is the internet, I forgot.

I guess they can afford $2000 in child care costs. Good for them for wanting and planning that many children and being able to financially support them all.
On one hand, yes, they are financially responsible. However, I wouldn’t say being able to afford $2k/month for childcare the idea that they can afford so many kids.
Stay with me as we change gears a bit.
Kids should be eating the finest food available, not processed foods, nor hormone/anti-biotic laden foods. I doubt many parents would be able to afford such a diet with so many kids. But, by making sacrifices in food quality, they are able to “afford” so many kids.
This goes for many though who only have one kid, one such reason I don’t want kids right now, we wouldn’t be able to sustain our food quality/workout time/healthy lifestyle to my standards.
I understand what you mean and my own family now buys organic eggs and grass fed beef, etc. However, I don’t think that people that choose not to do that are unfit as parents or have made poor decisions that will result in harm coming to their children or their health. Do you know anyone that was raised exclusively on the types of foods you’re suggesting?
Please don’t take this the wrong way, as I said before, I get your point but I think it’s kind of shitty that you are this judgmental about your sister’s choices. No offense meant.
My apologies if that’s how I came off as if someone that couldn’t afford organic foods shouldn’t have kids, it’s more along the lines of at least being able to buy real food, and not processed garbage… at what point is it not child abuse if a 10 yr old has type 2 diabetes
No worries, no offense taken.
Honestly, it did come off at first as those that couldn’t afford the lap of luxury shouldn’t even consider having kids but I see what you meant now about processed foods.
As so many others have mentioned, you can read whatever books you want, fantasize about how your perfect little family is going to function and all about how you’re going to “lay down the law” and that’s how it’s going to be and I guarantee you that the whole thing will blow up in your face. Being a parent will bring you to your knees. May even make you cry. If you didn’t know what being humbled was, you would soon learn. It’s also worth every bit of it to hear the pitter patter of little feet running down the hallway in the morning coming to see if you’re awake yet. It feels way better to be the center of someone else’s world than it does to have your own way all the time. None of that was directed as you but just my thoughts on the matter.
I have no issue with people that don’t want children, at least they know it. I am very happy when able couples have many planned children. What does bother me is when people that don’t really want children or that don’t have the resources to raise a child in a healthy, happy home have children anyway. A well-adjusted child will have more to do with love, guidance, acceptance and how much quality time you’ve spent with them more than whether he had an organic turkey burger or chicken nuggets for dinner.
Before I had my first child, my opinions were similar to yours. Not quite as extreme but similar. I learned through that experience that the more judgmental you are, the harder reality will slap you in the face later on when it teaches you that you don’t really know anything.

Silly, silly parent. You are just weak and cave in to your kids.

I know and I’m ashamed of myself. Some mornings, while my husband is still in bed, the children gather in my kitchen and sing to me “Mom is great…give us the chocolate cake”. (From Bill Cosby, Himself for those not old enough to remember).
Speaking of Bill Cosby, that man knows everything about parenting. Those that don’t have children right now think that I’m kidding.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell that went over like a lead balloon. Tough crowd you guys are.

You need a bit of an older crowd if you want to use Bill Cosby references.

No, there are more then a few of us on here that are older, but I think the majority of the
posters around are in their 20’s still which means Bill Cosby stopped being relevant while they were still in elementary school. It also doesn’t help that he is one of those love him or hate him types. Outside of his sitcom I never cared much for him so I don’t get most references to him outside of ones that deal with the show.

His show was okay for first couple of years. As a parent I love his stand up Bill Cosby Himself.
Just because we got some younguns on here doesnt mean they cant be educated about the past.
