Had chiro appt w/chiro friend after bench session. Got adjustment and feel a lot better. He snapped my back and it sounded like a shotgun blast (to me). He twisted my neck and also got a loud pop. Haven’t been to a chiro prior.

Will do deadlift opener on Thursday. Still try to schedule massage for Friday. Also have chiro follow-up on Friday.

Things are coming together nicely.

Thanks Joe. Yep, 24hr. Plan on making weight on Friday morning, Friday afternoon at the worst. Then eating, sleeping, streching until we handle another guy from our gym in the Bench Only event on Friday night. He’s going for a 600 raw bench @ 275 class. He’s done 580 with us. He hasn’t had 600 raw bench since weighing 290# (couple years ago). He’s down to @ 265 now. He hates losing weight. It makes him real grumpy :slight_smile:

One of my other training partners is doing a RAW full meet. He’s a 242. He’s going for 600sq, 400b, 600dl. His bench is my only concern with him. I think he’ll go way past a 600sq. A 600dl is attainable.

Shut down DL until meet on 7/16. Will open @ 350. Back felt good but didn’t want to go ape-shit before get chiro follow-up chiro. Have massage this afternoon.

Will go back to gym on Saturday. Will do heavier tricep work, light OH work, light front squats and maybe light GMs.

Will knoock out meet check list this weekend & next week. Being anal retentive does have some occasional benefits.

Soreness finally gone from deep tissue massage on 7/7. Had massage this morning at 6am. She did surface stuff on quads. Legs feel great. Feel refreshed and strong.

Get back cracked on Thursday. Then off to meet. Weigh in on Friday morning @ 9am.

Talked with training partners a little on Saturday. May dial the openers back a little to make sure of getting on board.

Meet over. Had fun. Weighed in on Friday @ 214.9 (in street clothes).

Sore as hell today. Out this week. Massage on Tuesday, Golf tournament on Wednesday, Chiro on Thursday.

Went 8 for 9 and totaled 1001 or 1002.

Back openers down since gym openers. Factored in ass-pucker and nerves.

Backs of knees are bruised. Handler wrapped tighter than normal. Cranked up wrap on my 3rd attempt to the point that I cramped up in my quad. Had to re-wrap a little looser. Will hit 400+ at next meet.

Didn’t eat anything other than BCAA drink and protin shakes. Felt weak. Mild panic started to set in as I feeling so friggin weak. Had burger from concession stand. (We had jerky, peanut butter, etc in coolers but I must’ve overlooked that bit of info). Need to work on weak bench.

Backed DL opener down since feeling like shiiite. Food kicked in and felt better

1x1 363 needed 362 for 1000. I left the decimals out since it’s kilos and I failed that in school. I felt as comfortable pulling as I can remember. Weight felt like I had 400-425 in me but I was focusing on the first goal of 1000. Will pull 400+ at the next meet.

It was a learning experience. I learned that I need to eat between lifts and not just liquids.
Also realized that no one good in a singlet, except for this little brunette from Team Anvil.

Looking at the next meet in November. Same place. Some other guys from our crew (that didn’t lift in DBQ) are going to lift in the UPA meet @ Minnesota in September. I think that’s Pete’s neighborhood. I’ll go up and be a handler/gofor.

I ended up getting 1st place in the 45-49, raw, tested division (I may have been the only one). Got a plaque that’s already been dropped off in our traing room.

Other lifters from our crew:
275# bench only guy (open/raw) 530 best lift. Won best lifter. He got a plaque, a huge, bitchin’ shield, supps from T-Nation, and a gift certificate from At-Large Nutrition.

242#, open/raw. 611 Squat, bench bomb. 611 Squat would have been a record but I don’t think it’ll count since he didn’t total.

There were some big name lifters either lifting or in attendance. The crew from Franz @ Chicago came over. The Lillibridge’s are freaks. The Frey bros both lifted. Saw a lifter from Mason City, IA (Jake Prazak) take Rob Luyando’s 242 bench record (904). He opened with a 909 (3 whites), second attempt GOOD at 920. He missed his third attempt. Rob was there on Saturday at the full power.

Feeling beat up a little today. Weight back up to @ 225-230. Been eating like shit and liking it.

Here’s the results from the meet. I’m the 48yr old in the full power. It appears that I was the oldest lifter. Fuggin whippersnappers.

It means a lot to me. I guess I’ll have to pay more attention when side spotting his 500+ benching.

We have a team meeting tomorrow after OH pressing. Meeting while eating. We’re going to decide on a team name and the bylaws for being part of the crew. I’m up for doing a meet a year. Will also propose some sort of nominal monthly dues for each ($5-$10). This will allow us to purchase things that we need after being voted upon.

I’ll submit something stupid like “Team Evolution”. The logo could be the ape evolving to walking upright, turning into man, then de-evolving onto a Bench (w/bar), then into DL position w/bar and finally into squat position (w/bar on back). Or Pete’s avatar.

Had team meeting again tonite. Team now approaching 10-12 people. Anticipate growth with the addition of a monolift.

I found a monolift for sale online. We made an offer and bought the damn thing. We leave Des Moines, IA for Buffalo, NY on Friday night. It’s a mere 13 hour straight shot (@950 miles) on I-80 & I-90 to Buffalo. We’ll drive straight thru, load it, and drive straight back. The plan is to put it up on Sunday afternoon.

Happy with the dips as they were painful on my shoulder since injury 3 yrs ago.

Not driving to Buffalo, NY. We wired the money to the seller. We decided it was worth an extra $200 to have someone else do the heavy lifting. Mono to be picked up 8/2 and heading I-80 west to DSM, IA. We anticipate it on Friday or Saturday. We’ll have a monolift putting together bash. Our biggest fear is the brotards that may their way back to our haven. We can’t put a lock on the door as it’s apparently a fire code violation. I guess we’ll deal with that when it happens, and it will happen. Most of the jackholes will have no idea what the new contraption is. They may leave it alone if they can’t curl in it.
