Cheater's Diet Support Group

Does anyone know when this diet will be posted on the forum?

Don’t know if it will. Joel asked for a test group to get some results. This could be a diet that he plans to use with clients.

Only he knows that answer.

Arioch or anyone else,

are you doing the WSP III cardio of jumping jacks or rope jumping also?

I love jumping rope, but if I have enough energy to jump rope then I haven’t pushed myself hard enough with the HIIT! So no, I haven’t done any of the WSP cardio.

Question

What is the best way to get rid of excess water weight?

At present I am drinking between 1-2 gallons of water and have completely eliminated the use of salt.

Any suggestions will be helpful

So How did everyone do this week?

For me, I dropped 1.5lbs from the 2.5lbs that I added last week. Also, altered my cardio sessions, by doing them in the AM!

Completely eliminated salt? I’m going to make an assumption and say that you are not adding salt to your meals. I was under the impression, that there are naturally occuring amounts of sodium in most foods

Yes, I’m doing the jumping jacks/rope jumping as well as Joel’s cardio.

It has been tough to do the cardio a day after the rope jumping but I am pushing myself on the cardio.

I actually split the rope jumping and jumping jacks. Basically, I do as much of one as I can then quickly switch to the other. Yes, I do have to catch my breath inbetween but it lets my arms rest a bit.

Attempting to limit salt is probably resulting in the opposite occuring. The hormone aldosterone acts on the kidneys to conserve sodium for bodily functions; however, when sodium is consumed in high amounts, aldosterone release is blunted and any excess sodium will simply be excreted. As a result, sodium balance remains normal.

Sodium induced water retention is a result of a relative change in sodium intake, not absolute intake (so, in essense, limiting sodium intake isn’t going to do much).

Wow. 5 weeks…20 pounds…4+ inches off my waist. Easiest diet to follow…I have never followed a diet for more than a few days before I got bored or didn’t get results. Thanks Joel!!!

Timm

This is my first time replying to this thread but I figure I’d add my results so far. I haven’t lost nearly as much weight as a lot of you, only 6lbs, but I have lost 3 inches off my waist and have steadily been gaining strength in each workout. I’m really liking this diet.

This was my first off week. I lost .8 lbs this week with no change in waist measurement for the second time since beginning this diet, despite an increased activity level and a reduction in the amount I ate on Sunday. Not a huge reduction, but a lesser amount nonetheless.

I’m starting to think that maybe I should…well, I guess we can’t discuss on the thread, can we?

That happened to me two weeks ago. I mentioned some changes I was thinking about to Joel and he gave me the thumbs up. They helped. I lost a couple pounds this past week as well as some off the waist.

Just keep at it (sorry if I took your line, Joel).

Well, I was up a pound, but at least the waist stayed the same. As long as I don’t lose ground I figure I’m not in bad shape. I might’ve eaten too much last Sunday or I might just be under a little end-of-term stress. Either way, I’m going back to what I did the week before last.

Does anyone know if its possible to perform cardio immediately after a training session? I read that Joel suggest to perform it early in the day but in the evening is supposed to be fine.

But is it possible to perform the cardio session immediately post-workout?

Thanks for help.

That would depend on whether YOU can or not. If you are asking if it is allowable, yes it is. Of course, many people would ask what kind of workout you are doing that would leave you with the energy to perform Joel’s cardio right afterword. I usually need a few hours before I feel up to doing any sort of cardio after my workouts.

Is it possible- yes. Anything is possible.

Is it advisable- no. For many reasons it’s not good to do cardio directly after a training session. You body will likely have its glycogen stores depleted and will turn to lean mass for fuel. If you don’t care about chipping away at muscle, go for it. Otherwise it would be good to either spread them out or at least do cardio after some PWO nutrition to replenish those stores.

Don’t get me wrong, doing it after a workout is better than not doing it at all, and for most people it’s probably fine. I just have seen negative muscle repair/building responses from it in myself and others.

During my workout I drink a shake that consists of 30g of protein and 50g of maltodextrine, so I guess that doesnt place me in a too catabolic state for cardio post-workout.

It can be done; however, it is not only dependent on the individual, but also on the nutritional status of that said person.

An example: JB’s Winning Formula diet. This program either has you doing 30/90 sprints post-workout, or 30 minutes of moderate intensity cardio.

I don’t think this would be optimal on Joel’s plan, particularly on the first two days.
