Today is definately a Monday. I forgot to bring fruit from home to work. Now I need to get the crap they have in the cafeteria. At least in the morning they have some decent stuff so I need to stock up for the rest of the work day.
according to the tanita scale this morning i lost over 10lbs in a week but gained BF%…i am dubious. my waist (Around the navel) is almost 2 inches less.

The way the Tanita measures bodyfat relies on hydration levels being constant. If you lose a lot of water, which is what usually happens in the first week of a diet, the Tanita will incorrectly measure your bodyfat as higher than it really is.

My guess, is that the majority of the weight lost during week 1 is water. Even if you drink a lot of water, the decreased muscle and liver glycogen in your body (due to low carbs) lowers the body’s ability to hold/store water.
I certainly hope that is the case. My numbers show I lost around 2 lbs of fat and 5 lbs of LBM, which I’m hoping is all water loss and not muscle. We’ll see what happens here as week 2 begins.
BTW the oatmeal with raspberries this AM was excellent.
Bingo. A good portion of the weight lost was water & depletion of glycogen. My body retains water like a camel; seriously my entire body was extremely puffy the day after the Cheat Day.
My scale weight & waist measurements were right on for the Monday morning after the Cheat Day; my weight 2 days before the Cheat Day is a different story. As far as BF% measurements I am using the 3 site skin fold method w/ calipers. I am NOT very experienced w/ the calipers & was hesitant to use them but decide that at the very least I could track the thickness of skin folds.
I appreciate all of your concerns as far as LBM loss goes. I can assure you that very little if any LBM was lost. The sure volume at which water was retained defiantly distorted the BF% measurements. As far as measurements go, yes there was slight decreases across the board, but I feel that most was do to glycogen depletion. They defiantly looked flat half way through last week. I am confident that my measurements will increase once I introduce more carbs into my diet. Oatmeal & Berries, YA!!!
Good luck to everyone this week & enjoy your carbs, let?s keep the fat melting off!!!
Oh, THANK YOU so much Joel Marion, you are the man.

Agreed. I have an Omtron electrical impedence device that also registered an increase in body fat. All electrical devices read higher numbers when your water weight is low. A good test is to measure yourself in the morning, then try to drink more than a gallon of water in one day and measure yourself again at night. Amazingly in less than one day you’ll drop a few percentage points.
Well, week one went great for me. I lost 5.5 lbs, 1 inch of my waist, 1/2 inch off my hips, 1/2 inch of my thigh, while my bicep and calf measurements stayed the same.
My clothes feel looser and my abs are looking much more defined. Week two is an absolute breeze and I doubt the rest of this diet is going to feel like much of a diet at all.
Joel is the best!
For anyone still lacking in the energy department, I find that taking Greens Plus really helps.
Hello everyone, I hope your day is going well. I felt so much better today. My workout was much more productive today.
Anyway I thought I would chime in & share a little recipe w/ all of you, especially the oat lovers : ).
1 cup Oats, (quick cook)
200g 2% Cottage Cheese
1 cup (140g) Mixed berries, frozen
Dash of Cinnamon
Dash of Splenda
1 cup water
Directions: Place 1 cup Oats in a medium sized (round is preferred) microwave safe Tupperware container. Add Cinnamon, then mix with a fork, then add 1 cup water and mix once again. Place in microwave (w/ max power selected) for 1 minute, then remove and stir with fork.
Place Cottage Cheese & Berries in a blender, then blend until you have a very thick consistence, add small amounts of water if necessary. Place the Cottage Cheese & Berries in the container w/ the Oatmeal, then mix together adding Splenda to taste. Place the lid on the container and then set in refrigerator overnight.
Enjoy!!

I feel weird about eating more carbs this week after 1 complete week with almost any… Eating whole wheat tortilla make me feel like i’m cheating lol
I hope the progress will continue though…
That is why I am opting for the more conservative carb choices such as fruit and maybe one meal a day with oatmeal.

I think that should be a low-carb tortilla, save the regular ones for next week.
Does anyone know how to use an Accu-Measure Caliper? I read about people "talking " about three (3) different places, but the instructions only say to use the side area above the hip bone. Thisis something I have never bothered with.
Week one i lost 3 lbs. i am ramping up the cardio for weeks 2 and 3 to see if that will help the fat loss even more. I might even throw some ephedra in the mix, not sure yet though.

You don’t need ephedra. Just get a couple of bottles of HOT-ROX! I love it. Take 30 minutes before you do your cardio!
I lost 3.5lb and inches. I feel great and my clothes fit alot better. I’m nervous about adding back in the carbs just b/c I want the results to keep coming. Although I’m thankful for the oatbran and fruit I’ve eaten this week.
I dropped three pounds! I wake up a two days after eating carbs and lo and behold…three pounds lighter. Yay me! I think my body needed the change to allow me to let go of the weight. Okay I am happy now (insert big smilie here).
Brown beef in a pan (or wok), adding finely diced garlic and green pepper (about 3/4 of the pepper should work). Pour 1/4 cup of tomato paste into a small pot, season as desired (I added salt, pepper, the rest of the green pepper, and some garlic). Cook until desired consistency is achieved. Spread sauce on Boboli crust, add a layer of cheese, then the beef and green pepper, and finally some more cheese. Cook at 450 deg. for 8-10 minutes. Serving is 1/3 of pie.
The crust only has about 30g of carbs, so that’s 10g per serving. 1/3 lb. of beef plus the cheese is about 32 g of protein and 15 g of fat. Add an apple and you’ve got lunch. You can obviously adjust the serving size depending on your needs.
