Cars And Racing

So we did a gun thread, but does anyone else here drag cars or track them?

I don’t have my own car but I am a big IndyCar and IMSA fan.

Not yet. I ordered a TRX yesterday so will take that out to see what it can do on the strip once I get it. I’m also kicking around putting a supercharger on my C6.

I went to the drag strip a lot when I was younger. Now I just usually own an exotic and a fast daily. I never track them anymore. I like blue too apparently. Daily X5M Competition and toy R8 Quattro.

I would like to purchase a lexus RC-F at some point, but it’s not really conducive to carting kiddos around.

I got my first fast(ish) car about a year ago. A 08 mazdaspeed 3. It’s fun, fairly reliable and fairly practical. Only issue is it gets like 23 mpg on premium.

Haven’t done any racing. I do think it would be fun to build up a car and race it. Maybe a kit car.

I saw a video of a guy who put a Tesla motor in a Factory 5 818. It was wild. It did weigh a bit more than 818 kg with the battery, but I think he was saying it was a little over 2000 lbs with a 475 hp motor. Would be wild.

TRX’s are fun. I have driven a few.

Very nice! I looked at a new R8 recently and test drove one. Just not very comfortable for my large self, but a beautiful car.

I snagged a 2022 Lincoln Aviator Black Label a few months ago and the car is more fun than I thought. Super smooth ride too.

You got rid of the McLaren?

The hellcat gets about 3 MPG on race E85, if I am lucky.

426 stroker with 2100 ID injectors - quad fore fuel system - 3.8L gen 5 whipple - I have spent more on the car in mods than I bought it for. It is like a never ending black hole.

I am sure the MS3 would seem pretty slow in comparison though.

There are people that make the decently fast, but I like my engine to not go boom, so I am keeping it stock. It’s also an 08 that just hit 100K miles and my daily driver, so stock is the way for me.

I used to be super into cars and the idea of racing when I was younger. Not so much any more for me, but I still appreciate them.

My dream is to have a late 60’s muscle/pony car restored and with some modern amenities. Drop top ideally. I would have zero qualms with dumping cash into the fuel tank during the short summers here to get around on the weekends or after work.

I have a motorcycle for when I want to go fast, but an adventure bike is really calling out to me these days.

I love 60’s muscle cars.

My father-in-law is very into 50’s Chevys - trucks and Bel Airs. He has a slew of gorgeous restored ones.

Yeah the McLaren was fun but the service was atrocious. First time I took it in for service it was 17k OTD.

I know all about a daily driver. I bought this last year just to putz around in and it has been a great decision with fuel prices. It is basic as they come. No power windows, no power locks, haha.

My office is 35 miles from my house, so I mainly use it to run back and forth to it. Another plus is being able to park pretty much anywhere and not care about people being assholes and dinging your shit.

It is also good disguise for people not thinking you have anything or breaking into your vehicle.

Very true. Its not a comfortable car. I’ve had a ton of exotic and muscle cars. My favorite thus far is my X5M Competition. It’s gorgeous and behaves like a refined hammer. I mean it has 617hp, hits 60 in the low 3s, quarter in the high 11s, but can be very civil if you ask it too. Its just such a great all around SUV.

That is what impressed me about the Aviator. Has 500HP and moves for a SUV along with all the creature comforts.

Not as fast as the X5M by any means, but the wife is usually in it. She has a 2021 Tahoe High Country, but seems to be bogarting the Lincoln lately.

More interested in that Cummins than than the Hellcat TBH.

My dad and I restored a 1968 Camaro SS with a 383 stroker and 4 barrel Edelbrock; Muncie 4 speed and the fattest tires we could slap on it after tubbing out the wheel wells, Obviously raked up a bit too (about 2").

I also have a '93 12 valve cummins that’s mostly stock, outside of the 4" lift and 35" tires; been meaning to get rid of it but I’ve been busy with school. I’ve got an unhealthy love for box body trucks and muscle cars - I’m just not at a point in my life where it’s feasible to have either.

I’m amazed you fit in this

It is a 2020 Laramie with Limited 1 Package 3500 with the HO. Bought it in March of 2020 right before Covid went insane. I absolutely love this truck. Insane power.

I fit relatively easily lol. It is a small car, but still more room than a camaro or exotic.

There are so many people that don’t realize the amount of torque these things make. They say “hurr madurr, only 420 horsepower, durr” and ignore the 1000+ ft/lb torque it produces lol.

If you know anyone who wants to rescue an old box body 12 valve from neglect, hit me up
