Simply for your purposes in this realm, I would take up boxing…I know the addage about most streetfights going to the ground, but that isn’t all that true for two dudes who don’t know how to fight…also, I wouldn’t recommend going into a streetfight with a month or two of BJJ as your only training unless you want a beating.
With boxing you’ll learn how to throw a punch as well as learn how to continue fighting once you’ve been peppered in the face a few times…if you think that’s disconcerting, try taking a false crack at full windup into your ear…fucking sucks.
If you end up in a similiar situation in the near future, hit him in the throat, and while he’s gasping for air take him to the ground and sit on his chest…you should pretty much be able to do what you want from this position as you don’t have much fight in you if your wind is gone. Otherwise don’t get into fights, no one ever really wins and, to this day, I have never gotten laid on an evening when I got into some sort of altercation, so it really isn’t that conducive to my goal of going out in the first place.

Yeah, he needs some training in self-d, for sure.
Most important thing is to learn to recognize when an attack is coming. Unless its a snipe or assassination, you definitely can see when someone is ready to strike. I’ve been in martial art for many years and I can see the tension build in a guy’s demeanor and body before he strikes pretty easily. If you can do this, sidestep and front kick his leg. In general, your kick is about 4 times stronger than your punch, plus you’ve got a shoe on (try steel toed shoes too). With any luck at all, you’ll break his leg.
Since you don’t have years, your best option may be to hunt HIM down. You should only do this if you know he intends to harm you again. If he’s going to let it go, so should you. Don’t escalate the situation.

Glad you got KTFO, cos you sound like a twat.
Hahahahahaha…I just laughed so hard that I think I scared my family. Seriously though it was said before that inexperienced fighters should not give advice on it. I’ve been doing TKD with two former national champs for two years. We do Hapkido as well. It’s joint manipulation, joint strikes, groin rips ect.
There are no tournaments for Hapkido would not make it out alive. It seems like you behave like an idiot and I’m not trying to be a jerk either but one can’t really expect to be considered anything but after you videotape a “drive by water spraying?” What goes on in your life. You seem scared and clueless about fighting thus I feel like this might come up again. Take up a Martial art. MMA perhaps. I have read that neck training enables one to take a hit as boxers, MMA guys, and football folks train their necks. Chris Thib wrote an article on “G-Force training” Read it and do it.
I have a 19" and now I don’t bounce around when I drive. It used to be 15". Mostly just stop doing silly shit if you can’t defend yourself. I’m an asshole and i’m about 5’9" 240 lbs but I wouldn’t do that shit that you did. You did deserve a beating but not a life of terror. Hope this hasn’t been too insulting.
(You could also walk around with hands like mine.)

This is why ever thread about fighting on any internet board anywhere always turns to awesome.

The thing is though guys, even if I do beat him up, which would be suprising to be honest if you look at the huge amount of more fighting experience he’s had over me, things will just escalate. There’s no way this guy would let it go if I even hit him. I would actually be worried about getting stabbed.
Agreed. Some people are very stupid when it comes to a situation like this. I got into a similar situation years ago(I didn’t get knocked out though), and luckily for me it just blew over. People like this eventually end up in jail or get killed. He’ll punch someone again and end up having to do prison time or get killed.
As for taking a punch, yes you can get better at it. You need to spar in martial arts and get used to taking a hit and returning one. A glass jaw is a glass jaw, but I don’t think you can really be sure you have one until you give something like boxing a chance.

Judging from your pictures in your profile, you’re more like 5’9 170. I really don’t want to start an arguement over this, but there’s no way you’re 240lbs. You’re skinnyfat with a big neck and bloody nuckles. Get over yourself.

LOL! You’ve obviously been kicked a few times in the head. And I don’t even bother to read your posts, so I can’t judge you. Based on your choice of avatar though, I’d say you’ve got an apartment without any furniture.

why must I keep throwing this out there.
As the great Dalton once said, “No one ever wins a fight”.
“Pain don’t hurt”.
Although Dalton woulda beat his ass the first time…
I think it’s time to hire Steven Seagal as your bodyguard. That man is like a ghost…I mean, this guy will be mouthing off to you one second, and then *BAM PARALYZED by a trademark Seagal kneck- turning- and- breaking thing. Then they could make it into a made for TV movie…and call it something cool and original like “The Bodyguard” or “Out for Justice and a Kill”
Look. Fighting is generally stupid, and usually brings harm to both parties. If you feel you need to restore your honor, then bloody do it or fail in the attempt. Don’t let an open wound eat away at you. Confront the guy, and if it comes to blows, use your size to your advantage. If he has quick hands and knows how to puch and you can’t take a punch, don’t let him punch you, or don’t let him punch you in the chin. Lower your head, close the distance and get in real close, putting your head in his armpit or thereabouts - he won’t be able to hit you anywhere except the top of the head or the face with an uppercut (so keep your hands up), and hitting a guy in the top of the head is an easy way to break your wrist. When you get in close, pick the fucker up, and throw him. If he gets up and comes at you, do it again. And again. And again.
If he catches you with a lucky punch, you’ll lose, but chances are he won’t expect you to try and tackle him.
However, if you seriously think this guy’ll try to kill you, call the police.
It’s an old pic. I was 196. I’m bottom heavy. I look 20 lbs heavier from behind. I have a small bone structure that messes up the perception of my weight. I’ve actually had people try to tell me, nay, argue with me about how much I weigh. I’ve offered to weigh myself. Do we really need to call me skinny fat? Eh…
TVG wrote:
Alright thanks for the input guys. I think I’m just going to try and let this blow over. If he actually physically confronts me, I’m not taking the first punch.
I think the reason this guy is such a confident fighter is because he is usually the one throwing the punches not taking them. Once I actually hit him it will probably even up the fight a fair amount. I don’t want to get “knocked the fuck out” again lol.
This is the dumbest shit I ever heard!!! Hit his ass as soon as his is within range !!! You said u wont take the first hit but once u actually hit him it will even up the fight??? doesnt make sense!!! I can Fight and I still always hit first!!! " hit first ask questions later" U need to grow some BALLS and beat him to the punch if he tries to get in your face!!

I think that a pro boxer can probably apply just as much force as any front kick with a punch. if it is true , then it is only possible if Kno how to perform the kick correctly!! But if he gets hit first again I dont think he is gonna land the kick
Clearly, not one of you has actually fought anyone. It doesn’t matter if you have 500lbs of muscle or look like Adrian Brody. Be fast, hit him in the nose, mouth, or bottom of the jaw. He isn’t going to keep going if his teeth are all over the ground or he’s blinded by the pain of a well placed punch breaking his nose. Most street fights end on the ground because people are too dumb to just lash out fast. If you end up on the ground, get in the advantage position and dont stop pumping your arm until he decides he lost.
Or just go on with your life because fights don’t solve anything in the real world.
Seems you are hellbent on some resolve. Walk up to him with your head down or something and suddenly do a surprise punch in the face. Element of surprise you see, you could also buy a small axe usually use d for chopping wood and use that instead. But you might get sent down for murder, so be careful.
Yeah other ideas are snipe him out properly, not with a leg kick nooo, with a .50 Cal Barret or a PSG-1, that fucker won’t think he’s tough when he’s been shot.
Seriously, just avoid this kid he is irrational, if you have to fight him, and I mean, have to, hit him first.

Clearly your extensive fight experience has shown you the advantage of getting the advantage position. Great advice buddy.

Clearly, you do realize that punching is NOT the ideal strike and usually just fucks up your hands? If you must hand strike, use a palm heel. You trade a couple of inches for a way more powerful strike.
The most powerful kick is either a rear leg side kick or a turning kick. These are however slower than a straight front kick. Wear steel toed boots and front kick his legs. Then stand back and enjoy the show (BTDT).
