Some people can take a hit others cannot. You can train yourself up, you need to do neckwork, and also, jaw work. But some people will always have a glass jaw. And then others with heads like a brick block, can still be dazed by a flukey hit to the temple etc… - the thing is, you just don’t know what the frik is going to happen.
The best way is to NOT be hit.
Some training might help you not get hit, by being more aware, keeping distance etc… really you want the reflex to duck your head back in an instant if a punch comes at you, there is no time to think about it, it isn’t that hard to train that reflex, most people are not that good at hitting without telegraphing their hit. Even moving back half an inch can make all the difference, so even if your reaction isn’t that great it can help.
But hey you deserved it for water bombing him you jackass.
The purse / scream like a girl line was classic
Alternatively, when you see him coming at you, UNLEASH THE TIGER! (Monty Python)
It sounds to me as if the guy who got squirted is unbalanced. If confronted and you know he means to do you SERIOUS harm, you MUST surprise him and grapple with him (provided he has no weapon). Keep your hands high, by your face. As he engages, wrap your left hand behind his head and scrub his eyes with the fingertips of your right hand. He’ll be screaming in agony. If you KNOW he would cause you very serious harm, you should try to blind him permanently.
When the cops come, you must say, “I was afraid for my safety.” or “I felt very threatened.”
Probably about 90% of the people on this thread have clearly never been in a fight.
If some guy who knows what he’s doing just starts wailing on you out of the blue and never lets up, you’re almost definitely going down: period. About the only way to even stand a chance is if you’re a trained fighter that can react through the daze or the other guy fucks up long enough for you to get your bearings.
An unexpected punch hurts about 10x worse than an expected one. With your adrenaline going, that first punch probably would’ve barely phased you, but you were caught totally unprepared and his advantage was huge.
Who knows, maybe you’d win if you fought him again instead of getting jumped. This guy sounds like he might be a little crazy, though (sucker punching some guy over getting squirted with water a couple days prior despite an apology? wtf). It’s probably on your best interests to just let it go, although I know I would certainly have a hard time following my own advice.

I don’t understand why untrained fighters even discuss fighting. Nothing you learn on a BBing messageboard overnight is going to save your ass. Just make some new friends, or carry a weapon.
Ok, what you need to do is become a world champion MMA fighter, this should take about a week . . . seriously though, my advice is to try and let it slide, you did have it coming, if this guy starts getting after you on the street or something taughting you and such do not respond, IF he follows you intending to start something you need to ACT, First try to kick him in the balls, You don’t owe this guy shit and there’s no such thing as a fair fight.
If you do start really throwing’em then remember you have height, size and most likely reach. My advice since you have little if any fighting experience is to
grab hold with you’re non dominant arm this allow you to use you’re reach and also helps you gauge distance. grab him about the collarbone of his shirt and shake him in and out keep him off balance.
2)duck your chin this a) protects your neck and b) increases the chance he’ll break his hand on your forehead
Yell and scream like a maniac, it sounds stupid but maybe he’ll think you’re just as loopy as he is
Do not stop striking even when he’s down, someone will pull you off eventually.
If you end up on the losing end and you’re down, cover up the sides and back of your head, your neck and your spine and chest to the best of your ability, a broken jaw and cheekbones do not compare to a c-spine injury or a collapsed lung.

Are you one of those fucks who have been making videos of drive-by water spraying?
Glad you got KTFO, cos you sound like a twat.
He was standing in a group of 50 people all in the middle of a water fight and soaking wet. If he didn’t want to get wet he probably shouldn’t have been standing there.

I’m not an expert or anything but dont you think that having a strong neck would help you take a hit?
I think having a stong neck can aid in taking a blow. At the least it will help prevent your head from being jerked back and revealing your chin as a target for another strike.
Stop bitching about it and do something. Fight the piece of shit. worst thing is you get beat up. Fuck that, your wounds will heal. You have to show this guy that you’re not going to be a pushover. By apologizing you set yourself up as a wimp and this guy took advantage of that weakness.
Advice from someone who’s been in this situation, man up and show you got a pair. People like this guy like picking on people they see as “weaker”, he’ll move on pretty quick if he realizes you aren’t going to take any shit from him, because sooner or later, you’re going to get a good one on him and he’s going down.
If he is a total loser though and would bring in weapons, get the authorities involved.
You got knocked the FUCK out!

is this in your best “Smokey” impersonation?
Seriously though, the best way to train to take a hit is to train to not get hit. This means not alienating others that you know will kick your ass or have friends or relatives that will do if they cannot.
Sometimes it is unavoidable and people will still act agressively towards you for no reason but this sounds like a classic case of learn to STFU and tread lightly.

Man, everybody gives that advice.
Some people are just looking to fight, no matter what you do. Even when you don’t do anything.
ESPECIALLY when you’re a big or visually built guy. Guys always want to prove themselves.
I can’t give any advice, I’ve given and taken beatings, and I don’t think I’ve become much smarter because of any, but staying calm under all circumstances is pretty much the best thing. And staying friendly.
(Almost)no one wants to or dares to hit a calm and friendly person.

We’ve all been in water fights. When everyone’s is up for it then it’s great. But for people who aren’t in the mood getting squirted is fucking annoying. Yeah it’s only water but some people don’t like it.
Stop whining about it. You got hit and that’s that. Just get on with life. Why get into a feud over a water fight? Be the bigger man. Once you’ve grown up a bit, then do what you fear the most- ie get into the ring, boxing or muay thai.
