Can't Get Bigger!?

I will echo what prof x is saying- you have to force your body to grow by consuming more calories— many lifters find this strategy to work well at your stage of development-just look at sloh’s thread–i will cast a warning though- dont eat so much that you constantly feel like death—because i did this last year and it sucked- every freaking leg workout i wanted to puke, i hated it.

That’s called “life as a bodybuilder who wants to get huge”.

Only recently is it now advised to avoid all of the suffering that it takes to get that big.

You want to force your body to gain 100lbs of muscle? You can bet you won’t be doing it without getting damn tired of shoving food in your mouth.

That is why smaller guys need to stop giving so much “advice”. They are the ones who think it is “strange” to deal with things like this.

Best post.

far out everyone takes everything so seriously, i meant you cant compare eating a pound of steak to the meals i eat because your so much bigger than me now, obviously i cant eat a pound of steak every meal with carbs aswell, and i actually do force myself to eat, just like you a bowl of cereal used to make me wanna throw up but now i can eat 3 of them bitches, but still it takes time to get used to it i cant just smash down a pound of steak 6 times a day without getting fucked up. but yes i know what your saying about how you need to force your body to grow by forcing calories in, which is now what im doing although it sucks it has to be done and i know that now! Also i ate a huge burger yesterday, i was just meaning im not going to eat maccas everyday just to get the calories, im going to eat as clean as possible.

yeah i too have eaten a fuckload before a leg session and did actually throw up  ive found if your eating a relatively large pre-workout meal for legs you should leave at least 90 minutes in between, thats seemed to work for me as i dont usually feel sick then.

Don’t let the haters get to you OP. their goals/priorities aren’t the same as your goals/priorities so don’t sweat it.

That’s fine as long as you realize it might not be possible 100%. Nothing wrong with trying to eat mostly clean…as long as you are progressing. Nobody WANTS to be chubby lol

Yes, you have to “just get the calories in” if you want to gain weight man. No other way around it…the title of your post is “Can’t get bigger”…that’s BS. You can, you just haven’t really wanted to. Eat more, period.

well brother, just up your oats to 1.5 cup and your rice to 1.5 cups, you will see a change

yeah bro exactly what im planning on doing, already started doing that and it doesnt really make it any harder to eat, i’ve actually upped my sweet potato to a whole one and added some natural peanut butter throughout the day.

do you track your macros/calories every day? If so, you’re in a good position to gain, following myself1992’s advice. You don’t need to be as hardcore as people would say lol

also obviously changing your training could help, but at 18 you look pretty good

If you REALLY wanna grow only LEAN mass you should try reading Kroc’s article: Eat to Get Big Without Getting Fat

I don’t know about that… I do 9 exercises on leg day as well and they’ve been growing like weeds. However I am eating almost twice as much as the OP was in his first post. I just make sure to drink a lot of water and keep my mind focused and it really isn’t too hard to keep the intensity high throughout.
That’s not the type of intensity I’m talking about. I’m talking about doing 4 sets of weighted dips as opposed to doing 2 sets of weighted dips and 2 sets of weighted pushups. Basically focusing more on a lift you see as more beneficial. You’re using more intensity on one or two lifts and not being a jack of all trades, master of none so to speak.
Ahh I see, but considering his 9 exercises are on a leg day, I don’t see it as being too excessive. 1 - 2 exercises for each muscle right?
Yeah but if he’s only doing 1 or 2 sets for most of those he might aswell focus on the main exercises and do more sets of those. Just my opinion. But maybe it works for him, who knows.

This has made me wonder. Is 1 or 2 sets really enough to stimulate a muscle to grow?

Do you know what your total protein intake is?
dopes1 wrote:

ahaha you can come and train with me and you’ll see that i can easily do that many exercises with high intensity, including drop sets and forced reps, i’ve always trained with high volume and seen awesome gains its just how i am, if i train with much less volume than that i feel nothing and gain nothing, ive tried it. But yes i am going to eat more.
If it work that great for you , why are you not making gain, contemplating steroid and asking tips too people on how to gain mass?

if youve read the whole post then you would realise by now that i’ve acknowledged the fact that im not eating enough to keep up with gains which is why ive increased calories?

also not contemplating steroids at all anymore, when i’m older i’ll rethink it.

Seems that MOST natural lifters tend to follow the lean gains approach, after they have already built a good amount of mass, and really have learned a lot about their bodies and how they respond.
How is this different for anyone? Why the distinction?
