Acne

hi everybody!

wasnt sure where to post this and will
get to the point. for the past 4 months or so i’ve had acne on my back and a little around my stomache and chest. due to physical problems i’m inactive and not happy about it. my
eating is ok cholestrol is good and had
that checked about a month ago. now i’ve had this before kinda seasonal and mild. but this is a little worse and thought mabe the fish oil and cod liver i was taking was the problem.stoped taking them both after the test results and hardly any change
not taking any other supplements of any
kind. my thought for correcting this
imbalance may be zinc so should i get
ZMA to help this problem? any solutions
comments suggestions and it maybe a while
before i get active again considering
surgery on my hernia, locked tendon
on left wrist and left knee problem as
well is looming very quickly likely in the next 6-8 weeks and quite frankly
dont know what to do. any help and or
anything would be greatly appreaciated.
ohh, before i forget. age 42 ht 5’10
wt 182 and my weight may get worse as
time goes by before and after surgery
and i’m trying to watch what i eat.
again any input would be helpfull!

What imbalance?

You have acne. It’s seasonal. http://acne.org/ Get some benzoyl peroxide. I fail to see what is difficult about this. Topical treamtent works for mild cases.

Id recommend seeing a specialist about it. A dermatologist. I’ve had acne for the past several years but because I see one and he prescribes me meds, its usually controllable. Id also try different body washes/facewashes. Try neutrogena type stuff, it works wonders for me usually. Besides that, drink a lot of water.

Hope that helped?

Ya the acne.org stuff is really good. Works way better than antibiotics. The most effective treatment is accutane, but it is very harsh and has caused chronic joint issues with many people.

I topically apply Nizoral 2% shampoo in the shower for acne after seeing it reccomended by Anthony Roberts.

It seems to work better for me than over the counter acne products.

How is your diet? Cut out most dairy, sugar, white flour and fried foods. Get your digestive system in shape: take probiotics and eat fermented food.
Make sure that your bowel movements are frequent enough. May need to add more fiber.

Topically, apply clay masques, daily if possible. Dont spend your money on pre-made clay masks, buy some loose green clay which should cost you from 5-10 bucks and will last for a long, long time. Use a tablespoon and add a little water. Apply to face and leave for 25 minutes or so until hardened. Wash off with water.

I’m in my 40s and get occasional bouts of acne.

You’ll like my suggestion, because it’s non-prescription, easy and relatively cheap.

Go to a pharmacy and ask for a bottle of Hibiclens; it’s an anti-bacterial liquid soap that costs about 8 bucks for a small bottle. Use as directed. My face clears up in a day or two.

Do NOT use it on a daily basis, because then whatever bacteria is hanging around might develop a tolerance to it and it will stop working.

I only use it once every few months, which is sufficient for the number of outbreaks I get.

I used to have really bad acne but I went to my doctor and she gave me some stuff that cleared it up after a couple months. I’m all clear now. All my shit was on my face though

Do you guys find this true with skim milk also? I have mild acne and while this admission is slightly emasculating, I just go to the tanning room once a week and it clears it up well. I really like milk in my diet so do you feel its that important to give up to clear up the acne? Thanks a lot guys.

Yeah, I think milk helps me to much (building) to try and give it up. Maybe over summer I’ll give it a shot since I’ll have more time to cook.

Pick up the book the “Acne Cure.” It outlines a simple protocol using common products combined w/ the use of cold. Although it’s written to treat your face, I’m sure you can use it for your situation. It takes about 30 to 90 days to get long-term results.

To get more immediate results as you do that, take 10 grams per day of Pantothenic acid (B5) divided in four dosages throughout the day with food (without food B5 will give diarrhea). Once you stop using B5, however, acne might return. Swanson Vitamins has a their own cheap brand of B5 on their site.

Low dose accutane has worked well for me after trying everything else and getting poor results. I don’t know what the side effects are like at the standard dose, but they’re pretty mild if you do half.

I’m just trying to improve my diet now. I’m not gonna give up dairy just yet but i have invested in Probiotics, omega 3/6/9 supps, and im upping the fibre in my diet. I feel that good digestion has a lot do with the skin.

Benzyl peroxide is quite good too. Don’t be sparing and smear that shit on.

Accutane Kills acne. The treatment is a pain but the results last a lifetime. It is the cure for acne.

You’re being recommended books and a lot of other shit that’s a waste of time. A cycle of tetracycline (the most often prescribed antibiotic for acne, as far as I’m aware edit: maybe erythromycin?) may be helpful to you since it’s seasonal and it’s possible you have a trigger, but that generally only works for people who have a underlying bacterial cause (and most people who cleanse their face regularly and eat well do not).

Try the acne.org regime, since it’s only on your body you’re just going to need to look for some bodywash or soap with a small about of benzoyl peroxide in it and see if it works.

There is not a significant scientific tie between diet and acne. People report certain foods make them break out, that’s generally a weak food allergy, not a tie between a specific food and acne for everyone. The dermatological community has been extremely firm in saying that diet does not play a role unless someone has an underlying issue with the food they’re complaining about.

Diary is interesting because adult humans aren’t really meant to drink milk, and you hear of that connection often (as well as the creatine connection), but this guy is saying it’s seasonal which leads me to believe it’s really not related to that.

I have never once in my life heard of refined fish oil supplementation causing acne.

Isotretinoin is not a cure for acne. It’s as close as there is, though. Many people have to go on multiple cycles, many people still get mild acne afterwards, many people have recurrences years later. Any ‘relapse’ will be milder, but the results do not last a lifetime.

Unless it gets severe like what I had I think you’ll be fine. This is what I used to have to deal with. It sucked balls man. Especially when I was benching it’d bleed and shat like that. Not cool man and I know what your dealing with because I was there.

Holy crap, man! That was you? What did you do about it?

Accutane baby it’s the only thing that worked. I had to go through a whole program about all how it works and what not to do, because it is one powerful drug. It could make you blind, have bad joints, tons of other bad side affects, but I didn’t get any of them. Yeah! But I was at the end of my rope you know what I mean. I had it like that for 2 years and was like F this I want to do something to get rid of it. So I took a risk and I came out fine.

You can look up the drug, it’s real name is: Isotretinoin

Here is another pic of what I had on my chest. Sick sad stuff man.
