I can’t do (afraid to do) shrugs because of a ruptured disk
in my lower back. They were one of my favorite things to do.
Any suggestion on a replacement exercise that won’t
compress my spine? I currently don’t want to do any thing that
might aggravate my back. I’m not doing any squats, deadlifts
or standing arm curls for this reason.

Try DB shrugs lying face down on an incline bench. The weight will be less but they hit the traps. I’m not a fan of the exercise because I hate movements where my chest and or belly get compressed. Example, chest supported rows…hate them. But, I would do them if I had a tweaked back.
How did you rupture the disk?

It started when I lifted a boat trailer off my truck. That hurt for a while. Then I picked up a 50# bag of fertilizer and that hurt some more. A couple weeks later it was a 45# plate that had me begging for mercy. I would have submitted to surgery without anesthesia for a few weeks.
But now I feel pretty darn close to 100% and want to keep it that way.
