Canned soup/stew

Anyone suggest any canned soups or stew that are high in protein? The only one i know that is sufficiently high in protein is Dinty Moore beef stew, if i eat a whole can (one of the short fat ones) its 30grams… any others? (I know the sodium is through the roof… but what can you do)

I’d be concerned about fat content as weill. They seem to load these things with fat and carbs together which is one thing and then shitty meats. If you really feel it necessary to eat this stuff, just pay close attention to the contents as a whole, not just the protein content.

Hey Fred, any chance you can pre-make your own soup in big batches to freeze and whatnot?Just put in tuperware and your set + you know what quality of food went into it…

I find it near impossible to maintain a strict diet for either gaining mass or cutting relying on canned/packaged foods. I had to learn to take control of my food intake by making all my own stuff. The only thing I get out of a can is black/red beans.

watch out for sodium intake too. They are really high in sodium.

If you have a Trader Joe’s near you:

They have a decent canned black bean soup that is high in fiber and a pretty good source of protein (albeit bean protein). Tons of veggies with no additives. Pretty clean stuff overall.

Give it a try if you get the chance.

Trader Joes rules!!!

You could try to buy some tupperware and take tuna or chicken and a helping of instant oats. About as quick and much better for lean body maintenance. Can the soup.

Emmmm, Dinty-mo stew - just like MOM used to make… NOT!
(Mom didn’t put “monosodium glutamate” in my stew.)

Bro, before purchasing any canned soup or stew products, check the
label for the words “monosodium glutamate.” About 95% of all
canned soups or stews contain MSG.

MSG is known as an “excitotoxin” or “neurotoxin” because of its
degenerative and deadly effects on the brain and nervous system.
MSG causes neurons to become over-stimulated to the point of
exhaustion and eventual cell death. MSG’s is added to foods for the
sole purpose of tricking the taste buds into thinking the food is
yummy.

I’ve tried Progresso canned soups. They taste pretty good. I keep some chicken breasts cooked up and in the fridge or freezer. I cut one up and add it to the soup. I do this with the vegetable or minestrone soups to avoid their meats. They are very salty, though. Also, each full can is 2 - 2 1/2 servings so the sodium is 1200 - 1800mg, pretty high. Sometimes, though, if you’re in a rush they are decent.
