I am addicted to candy and lots of it. The candy that I am addicted to is always fat free. But how bad is it to eat this stuff. I always am eating it at work, which is way hours before my workout. Is this bad, is this make a difference? Thanks!
I love the stuff as well and can be seriously compulsive with it. What I found works well is to have a high-protein breakfast with good fats and no bread or anything sweet- including fruit. And I stay away from anything sweet- again including fruit all day with the self-promise that I can have something at the end of the day. I don’t always even want it by then. And if I feel I must then I have something like chocolate because the fat-free stuff just aggravates that compulsive feeling.
look at the sugar content, all that sugar will make you a fat bastard
Thanks guys. No sugar for me. I know it isn’t going to help me, but I thought it was worth a try.
Hey Tanner - About a year ago I got into the habit of taking a post workout shake, and then a short while after I’d get the biggest bag lollies/sweets/candy I could find and just eat until I was gunna hurl… I actually grew better than ever before too! But then my body doesn’t really put on fat real quick either, so that wasn’t a huge problem. I did gain some fat, just nothing major. (Oh, and I’d make sure it was high glucose stuff too.)
I treally depends on insulin sensitivity. This habit won’t affect many people I know, but I will get fatter because of below average insulin resistenace. Instead, I stick to nuts and jerky as snacks.
If your like me and gotta have sugar at least do it when you body could really use it like post workout while still in your glycogen window. If I have a hankering for some “white death” (as arnold calls it) no-post workout I will make sure to balance out the glycemic index by having some slow digesting protein beforehand. But this is only a last resort kind of thing. The best thing is to keep as far away from sugar as you can.
Oh yeah, you can do what I do as well…consume one container of orange tic tacs throughout the day. total calorie count is only 60 calories for the entire container. 60 calories spread out over a 16 hour day won’t hurt you one bit but might help satisfy your sweet tooth.
