Calling all FOOTBALL Freaks

What the hell is a hijacker, is that suppose to be an insult? If so how about explainint it to me.

I think he meant that you were trying to ‘hijack’ the thread.
But thats fine, i’m happy to help you with what i can (and since its my thread, nobody will care  )

I personally don’t like the taste of Power Drive, but have noticed a higher level of performance after using it. As for Surge, haven’t tried it yet, but will be buying it soon. I have heard ALOT of good things about it from everyone i know thats gotten it, so i would say go ahead and get it.

I think its a general consensus on these forums and for the in-the-know athletes that cell-tech is worthless.

If you’re overweight, (i wouldn’t know, but have read enough to know) you should check out some HOT-ROX and the Velocity Diet.

Now get your own thread, ye bastard.

Haha, thanks for the deffinition of hijacker. To explain myself I had not yet figured out how to post my own thread so i kinda did hijack yours, so i do appologize.

not hearing to many tips on playing CB. and as a former college CB i have some stuff to offer. the advantage you have as a high school player is that you get to play both sides of the ball. you will learn a lot about playing reciever by being a corner and vice versa. one thing to help you as a DB is to read through the tips people have been giving you about playing WR and think about them as a DB. think about what the reciever is trying to do.

couple general tips for playing DB:

  1. know your coverages, realistically the mental side of playing corner is easy. only a couple things to learn. most high schools run basic cover 2, 3, 4 and man. just know your responsibilites and be in the right area

  2. work on your backpedaling technique constantly. keep the nose over the toes and butt low. keep feet low and quick, should hear your toes dragging on the grass. practice all breaks out of a backpedal. posts, corners, outs, ins, slant, and fade. try to do them off reactions or just have your buddy run different routes against you.

  3. focus on the inside hip in man coverage. if it disappears jump the inside route, if it points toward you jump the outside route.

  4. gettin off blocks can be tricky if the reciever is any good at blocking (most HS guys aren’t). my advice is to not even let the guy get his hands on you. most recievers will try to push you one way. set them up with a move and juke around them, or swim, rip whatever you gotta do. if you are a bigger guy or stronger you can be more physical. this tends to make recievers let up late in the game. most of them don’t want to block and don’t like getting hit so use that to your advantage.

  5. tackling - just get them down. on bigger kids run as fast as you can through there knees, they can’t run without legs.

  6. have a short memory. accept it before you
even start playing, if you are a corner you will get beat. you will miss tackles and get “burned”. let it go and come back the next play. a lot of guys get almost over focused and screw up even worse after they get beat. be cocky and forget stuff right after it happens. Deion, Champ, and every other NFL corner gives up TD’s. you just gotta be better next time. learn from it when it happens too. excuses like like “he was faster than me” are bullshit. with right technique and footwork you should be able to stay with any reciever (at HS level).

when you get more experienced you can do things to help you read plays better. for instance reading the qb’s drop. also, play around pre snap with alignment. you saw how many people said to read the db’s alignment to understand what coverage they are playing. before the snap line up inside shade then move outside. or press and bail. change it up constantly, move around.

thats about all i can think of right now as far as general tips go. any other questions you can send my way. lates
