The unmotivated are going to stay unmotivated regardless of what is said in this thread. Fuck unmotivated people.

I’m good for a 405 bench right about now. Recent numbers: 335x6, 365x3, 400x1, CG: 315x8, 335x5, decline: 345x9
incline: 295x8, 305x6, 315x3

Hit 405 at the end of my junior year of college, I was 22 at the time weighing around 240.

We had guys (mostly DL and OL) hitting in the low to mid 500’s, it was very impressive. Most were Polynesians and weighing in the upper 200’s to low 300’s.

To be honest I don’t care about flat bench press anymore, all my time goes into incline bench press. But for most of you trying to hit this goal, best of luck. It really is quite a good feeling. Strengthening my tri’s and back helped me a lot to reach this goal, bench press really requires a lot of overall upper body strength.

Good luck.
Cool, that makes 4 whole people on this entire forum.

How many people post here?
Come on now, I think almost all the people posting are the CURRENT under-24 crowd. There would be plenty more, I’m sure, if older guys (like myself) were counted.

At least I hope so.

At my University gym where basically every rugby player/“football player” lifts… the strongest training there BY FAR is at 400lbs bench press in the 240lb class. Not been 22 long, impressive stuff! The interesting bit is this: Whilst there are some big, impressive looking guys, I wouldn’t be suprised if the next bench press down the line was around 330lbs or less, I’ve certainly never seen anyone else put up that much… sure theres a share at powerlifting focused gyms, though…

The OP’s point was to get some proof that a few in this age group can top a 400 bench. Falling a bit short of the intended goal, now you can post about all your hopes and dreams, or how awesome you used to be (back in college where a 400 bench was the equivalent of a cover charge to get in). C’mon, post a motivating, feel good story for everyone. Then, speed to the gym, throw some pussy off your favorite bench, and tear that 225 max the fuck up. It’s light as hell and another 175 on that bar is right around the corner.

I am definitely not anywhere near benching 405 and probably never will be during my lifetime; however, my older brother was benching over 500lbs before the age of 23. He was an offensive tackle for Virginia state and at 6’8 330lbs at under 18% body fat he would probably have made almost anybody on this site look like little orphan Annie. Then again, I’m fairly certain he is older than prof X, so this only goes to solidify his initial statement that spawned this thread.

Davey how much you weigh if you don’t mind me asking? You look beastly in your avatar.

I just turned 24…is it too late for me to play?

Well I’m like 230 right now, but the 400 lift came when I was ~215, hence why I think I could hit 405 haha.

Now the real question: who can deadlift 600 besides h4m?

I get the motivation angle, but confused otherwise on the point…

With that, I hit 405lbs on flat bench right around my 20th birthday. I was a 240lbs college linebacker who focused a lot of energy towards training. Funny thing, I felt I was behind the curve on strength. In my small town Iowa high school, my good friend hit 415lbs on bench at the age of 17 (hit 345lbs as a 15 year old freshman). Crazy thing was that he was a 190lbs running back who also ran a 10.4 sec 100m. Sick thing…4.0 Valedictorian and Homecoming King on top of it, and of course is now an ER Dr.

Anyway, whats the goal? I don’t really know.

Be strong as fuck and crush things
MODOK wrote:
Back to the OP- I’d love it if some of you guys took him up on the challenge. Instead of saying what you can “someday” do… do it right fucking now. Make it the goal, and just get to it. At 19-23, gaining solid weight and blasting some big numbers is as easy as it will ever get for you. I went from a 295 to a 450 bench in 18 months during that time period, and I’ve got some average to shitty genes.

Just get it done.
You have inspired me(This whole thread has), once I get back from bct/ait this upcoming fall I’m going to go all out, eat myself to death and lift harder than Ron Jeremy’s manhood and I will post a video of a 405 bench within a year and a half of getting home. That is a promise.

That’s it I’m gonna shame these 19-23 year olds damnit.

Lets up the ante. Is that how you spell it? Whatever. 3/4/5 plates is so passe. Let’s see who can bench 405/ squat 495/ deadlift 585. ASAP.

yeah 405 bench that doesn’t imply a strong person… they’re just good at benching ya know?

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying.

Good Sprinter // Fast = Strong Person // High Bench?

That’s a terrible analogy, dude.

LOL @ “screw you, Prof X for pointing out how fucking weak most of us are!!!”

last i checked what you bench doesnt make you a good bodybuilder, and i thought this site was about bodybuilding?
Could you please let me know how many Mr. Olympias in the last 20 years could NOT bench press 405 if they chose to?

Part of getting really big muscles, is getting really fucking strong. While the weight I lift may not be my PRIMARY concern, you would have to be pretty clueless to think you get really big arms, chest, delts, back and legs without being stronger than most people in the gym.

You’re an idiot.

What fucking person that can bench press 405lbs for reps is NOT strong?

His analogies were spot on. You just seem to not get it.

I’d take this up but my highest max was 375 on bench and I haven’t trained that heavy in forever. I’ll be 23 on the 4th of April, though if you count the state of being 23 I could definitely pursue something like this.

Can currently rep 320-325 for 7ish reps, wonder how that translates to a 1rep max.
