I was wondering how all of you compute your body fat percentage? I really can’t afford right now to get the caliper test or anything, so I though maybe someone might have a way to estimate body fat composition using a tape measure and scale.
Here’s a link to the Army weight standard publication. There are guidelines and a worksheet for computing bodyfat % based on height, weight and circumference measurements. Sorry, but you’ll have to look through the document yourself because I’m at work and don’t have the time. It’s a rough apporximation, but then again, its probably better than what some people on here use based on pics and their estimate of BF%.
Good Luck,
DB
Get yourself the Accu-Measure Bodyfat Calipers. They are cheap, free if you get them with a purchase at certain online stores, and relatively accurate. At least as accurate as any tape estimates you’ll get. Search the T-Jack section for more info, they gave a ton of these out a few months ago.
Thanks folks, I appreciate the input!
Didn’t someone do a large, two-part article on how to do this a while back? I think it was Jason Norcross…
Ok, just checked, and it was Norcross – the date of the first article is May 10, 2002. Go read those two articles and you’ll be all set.
