Hey there. As u might know from previuos psots im living in a total foreign country and im trying build mass, the right way. Read up on John B’s Massive Eating Diet, wanna try it out as the Get Big Diet wasnt working for me -(personal preference).
1st step pre-dieting i should calculate my RMR. I have no way to calculate my body fat %. Gyms here dont have any such instruments, and the doctors dont speak Eng. Is this gonna screw it all up?
Thanks MikeM. Did the mesuring test. It says I have 18.6% bodyfat, it says the average healthy guy has 15%
this has kinda freaked me. Im not entirely surprised as I’m quite lean but I’ve developed a stomach and ass flab. Loosing it… oh my is gonna be a serious pain in the ass. Im starting the “Massive Eating diet”.
Well, I was getting rady to come on and give MM a little mini-flame, since I have yet to see a “tape measure” formula that was decently accurate. But then I took the test and it put me at 12.6%, which is probably about right.
So I won’t. [Sheepish look]
Still, based on years of experience doing this sort of thing, I would still recommend a set of calipers. They’re cheap, easy to use, and once you get used to the process, very good for tracking progress.
And I agree with you, char, I had yet to see a “tape measure” calculator that was worth a shit, but like I mentioned in another thread, when I had my body comp checked for my before and after photos for the Hot-Rox contest using the three-site skinfold, that healthcentral.com tool (devised by Covert Baily of “Fit or Fat” fame) was within less than 1% of the caliper measurement each time!
Definitely not the most accurate, but not a bad indicator when you want a quick reference.
