I’ve been reading a lot about how dairy and caffeine affect insulin levels so i’ve limited my coffee intake and only eat dairy (cottage cheese) in my 1st whole food meal after a workout. What are your experiences with dairy and caffeine and when’s the best time of day to drink coffee/green tea?
I personally drink coffee in the AM. A lot of coffee and green tea all day long and have no problems with it.
As far as dairy this is very individual as well and dependent on your goals. Some ppl simply cant make it to LOW bf% without cutting dairy out. I personally only eat fat free cheese’s and milk (on occasion), and will limit that if I am cutting.
In short you have to see what works for you.
Sorry doesnt really answer anything I can only tell you my personal experience in this topic.

I don’t know… dairy seems to be fine for me. I eat cottage cheese every night before sleeping in an effort to avoid catabolism.
I’m thinking that if you are working out, causing lots of anabolic activity and don’t have dairy issues that you don’t have to worry about it.
I could be wrong, maybe my progress is stunted and I don’t know it… ![]()
Adam,
I’ve gone as long as 3 months without either, and when I went back “on” them, I felt MUCH better…although I do stay away from most dairy products because of lactose-intolerance. I eat mostly hard cheeses and lactose-reduced ice cream (the low carb variety…on rare occassions) from the dairy group, plus heavy cream for my coffee. Other than the occasional stinky fart, I have no problems…
Caffeine is just something I have no desire to give up again. I honestly feel better with it in my diet. I guess I’m an exception to the rule, because my 3 month experiment should have been long enough for my body to adjust to the absence of caffeine. It never did.
gud to hear that… I can live without dairy but i need my caffeine to get my lasy ass out of bed in the morning to lectures… (and if you can get a girl to agree to go for coffee, you know that you’ve got her to agree to much more than just coffee)
