Dakota is now 205 @ 5’8 with visible abs. Having him clean his diet up slightly and adding in some more conditioning.

How is wrestling season going?

So so …my youngest is holding at 152 lbs still feel he lost too much lean muscle in the process , i notice a decrease in strength and explosiveness on the mat. Good note hes going better than last year… I believe his win % is about 70% so far ( dont quote me ). This weekend is the conference championship and the following week begins the start of the State tournament with sectionals. I think he has a good chance of at making itto regional. level.

That sucks about the weight cut muscle loss. Coaches never seem to give much notice before they want you to change weight classes.

Yes they do … needless to say the youngest was marking the days until the two pound allowance began .

Aggressive mobility drill for shoulders…

im upping the mobility work on my shoulders using bands, recently came across a drill that I found seems to be very beneficial . Realize I need to really work on getting the left shoulder more within the same range mobility wise as the right one. The left ones external rotation is several degrees less than the right. Pretty sure the reason the right one is currently barking is due to it compensation for the left in certain movements. For that reason I have had to make the tough decision to take BTNP off the training table due to the mobility difference between the left and right shoulder.

Hope you shake the bug off quickly.

The mere fact that you can do BTNP means your shoulders are in far better shape than mine. I would snap a lot of things if I tried them.

Maybe …maybe not. The big question is should I be doing them in the first place considering that my shoulders are kind of funky anymore. The whole risk a reward issue starting to raise its ugly head in this situation.

warm ups: 7 minutes treadmill
Mobility stuff

Squats: Bunch of warm up sets
315 x 3… weight just flew up tons of pop out of the hole
360 x 3 …same
405 x 3… rushed it out of the rack and messed up my form… should have re racked and started over. Said hell with it and just did the three.
315 x 12… was so tempted to crank out 20 for the hell of it BUT common sense prevailed.

Standing Heavy Band crunches: 5 x 10
Lunges : 3 x 10
Band abductions: 3 x 20

Pretty easy session… was happy that im getting some pop out of the hole. Not going to worry about the 405 set considering I cranked out 6 with 420 just a few weeks ago with no issue. Ill be honest I dont feel that worked at all at the moment.

If you would have cranked out the other 8 squats, you could have just skipped the treadmill thing completely. :grin:

since Im not in shape for it at the moment I probably would have needed a bucket to puke in. The 12 wasn’t hard at all getting 15 would been doable no problem , between 15-20 it would start taxing the old conditioning.

That looks like a strong session. Hell I consider 315x12 cardio and strong as well.

Awww… you ain’t even close to being old.

My 98 year old father always referred to people in their 70s as “those old people”. I have a friend whose 102 year old father would say the same thing. That man’s sitter told my friend he would get hard whenever she bathed him, at 100. He also would say fat people don’t live to advanced ages.

Works for me. I’m going to try to revive my 405 squatting.

355 x 3… ehh wasn’t feeling strong but wasn’t feel weak either stuck with my cap. To be honest I was just planning on doing a single since my shoulder was slightly annoying me today. On a good note the shoulder mobility work is starting to really help the set up… I am getting back to the point where I can really get my my scapula down and back properly again

Incline DB press: 3 x 20 @ Light weight. Skipped Buffalo bar Bench didn’t think it was a good idea to put my shoulder through a excessive range of motion today.

swiss bar hammer curls: 3 x 8 - 10 @ SW
Push downs: 3 x 10-12 @ SW
Band pull aparts: 3 x 35 ( doggie style)

SON OFF A BITCH!!! The little bastard pulled 450 x 5 today… .

Nice! He should be good for at least 550 now.
