Warm up: shit load of mobility work for the left shoulder and hips…Hips were stiff as hell.
Squat BBar: 2 x bar
95
135
185
225
275
295 x 5
340 x 5
385 x 5…did 6 I left a few in the tank. This set felt awkward not sure if its because I haven’t settled on the proper bar position on my back with the Buffalo bar or because my hips were tight. So i just did 6 and left well enough alone
295 x 15
GM’s: 5 x 10 x 135 …strict as hell
Standing Band crunches: 5 x 10
Alright session nothing major more of a punching the time clock type of session.
Deads keep feeling better when I let my breath out before or while ascending(coming up) from the bottom. Kind of goes against what I was originally taught. I read about Bob Peoples doing it and other current great dead lifters doing it. So I will keep on with it and let you know how the technique is working. I’m liking the feeling of emptiness in my gut and keeping my core tight. It’s like I have removed an obstacle when the air is filling my belly. This is the opposite of squats and bench when a full belly of air is beneficial.
Nice squatting and benching.

Even your conservative numbers are looking good. Slow and steady wins the race but can be hard to stick to when you like to lift heavy.
Yeah luckily I mature enough to stay conservative… in my younger days id probably end up being impatient and do something stupid.

Yeah if its working for you and your seeing improvement without any issue you might as well stick with it.
Omg that picture reminded me of when I was in high school. One of my friends was a softball player, and we were talking about lifting and I said I could squat 315 and she said “What? That’s it? I can do that.” And I was like “No fucking way you can do that.” It took 5 solid minutes of baffled conversation before I realized she had been talking about having 3 plates per side on the leg press the entire time… I about exploded.
And congrats to your son on joining the 400 pull club. I remember that was a great feeling, although I was a freshman in college before I did it! He’s certainly on track to be a strong man.

Yeah I dont even ask people what they squat anymore or want to know…its my policy.Since what my idea of a quality squat and mine arent even on the same planet most of the time.
He was good for the 4 months ago…but I think it was a mental thing on his part.

As much as its fun to speculate on my end its hard to say. I think a few of those numbers are more then achievable by the time hes 21. Like I’ve said on several occasion the lucky bastard has the advantage of having someone to coach him be it myself and a few other knowledgeable people I know.
Buffalo Bar Squat: 2 x 10 x bar
95
135
185
225
275
315 X 3
360 x 3
405 x 3… did 8 with one or two in the tank
315 x 15 … had some still in me
Had to cut it short due to a prier engagement. All in all pretty good session all my work sets were nice and explosive. On a side note the only issue I am having is the Buffalo bar feels awkward to me unracking and setting up.

Impressive squatting and congrats to your son.
Yeah , BP was good for it months ago but I think the number 4 had created a road block mentally.
I dont know how impressive the squat session was but im pretty happy with how much bar speed I had going yesterday. Now if I could get use to unracking and setting up with the Buffalo bar Id be even more happy. Probably when that happens I will be trying to get back under a regular bar to get ready for a meet.
