Bulldog: Working on regaining man card

I am an atrocious speller. (Thank God for spell check). Like, when you go to an interview and they ask you about your strengths and weaknesses, my spelling is my go too for weakness. My one friend is always amazed at how terrible my spelling is for as much as I read. Lol.

I have to look up basic words OFTEN because they look funky to me. In fact, I looked up ā€œaestheticā€ because I wasn’t sure it wasn’t a British spelling and I don’t want to seem affected. (Not that that’s a basic word, but this morning I was texting my son that I’m raring to go help him move lol, and I was like ā€œraring? WTF am I even saying? Is that the word?ā€

I look it up because I love words and am also OCD about it. Blinds, too! I’ve interrupted sessions to fix uneven blinds. Other things IDGAF about, that I probably should.

My husband is dyslexic, and once texted me ā€œI feel you wind.ā€ And that was it! It was early on, so I interpreted it as romantic, but other than that…???

But he can build a house, wire and plumb it, and is good at sex, so.

Im current partner is a Grammer nazi…so im a more focused on it.

Besides I feel my poor writing makes me come across as smooth brain.

This was my mom growing up. Because of this I am far more likely to notice the wrong their, there, they’re than I am spelling.

I also feel this way about my spelling. And also the questions that I have about lifting when I am looking through logs. I feel like a fucking moron when I’m looking at lifts that I’ve never heard of or specialty bars or, you know, 90% of what I read about. So in reference to the subject of this site, I’m for sure a smooth brain and I know I come across as one.

I wouldn’t worry about it… anymore , people have made it so overly complicated.

Warm up: 2 sets on reverse hyper plus a few sets of bodyweight squats to get the hips and knees oiled up.

SSbar squat : 65% x5

75% x 5

85% x 5

3x5 @ 75%….. just stuck with 5 on occasion ill do sets of 8 if things are feeling light and bar speed is explosive. Not today postier still slightly fatigued from pulls.

Good note… my form is coming back using my go to squatting shoes after my ill thought out attempt at adopting olympic shoes again.

One legged pendulum ( call it a split squat or lunge … you get the idea): 3 x 10…. Last set I pushed it to 15

Reverse hypers: 4 x 10 @50 % of squat max…. Looked up a few videos on Elitefts site. Doing these in a more controlled manor making sure that im engaging the glutes and lower back making sure they are firing hard and working.

Standing cable crunches : 5 x 10

On a good note as my performance impoves under the bar. Im seeing signs of some body recomp.

At this point im really starting to aggressively push the assistance movements hard. Taking some to complete failure , since I do not find them as impactful to recovery overall.

Probably after a few more cycles im planing on switching to a variation of 531 Wendler has listed in Beyond 531 for my core movements. Oddly ive never seen it mentioned or heard of it being used. But it speaks to me.

Im surprised how much geared lifting info still influences how people train the bench and squat.

Take it as you will.

Came across the older pic from before my long layoff. Now its debatable how long its been since I looked good naked. BUT… at least I looked like I lifted in cloth ( I think ?)

I’m sure not as long as you think. For me? Since about age 22. All downhill since then. Lol

Lol..

I had a continued trend of looking better naked with each passing year until I got LASIK…

:rofl::rofl: By this logic I should be looking better than ever now! Of course it’s just my close vision that sucks now. Maybe I should be standing closer to the mirror.

BENCH: 65%X5

75%X5

85%X5

3X8@75%

Bringing in grip slightly…. Shoulder said so

Incline db presses : 32/3 TR 34… evently these will become a lower back exercise

Seated wide grip cable rows: 42/4 TR44

Ez bar curl: 20/3 TR 22

Thick rope curls: 38/3 TR 42

DISCLAIMER!! I have said this before …Do not use me as a templete for 531. More so on how i approach my assistant work. Coming up on a few movement ill be changing up my loading scheme on some of them. Looking to drive the poundage back up on a few of them. The only reason I can get away with it, is my TM has become pretty low on my big core lifts as my strength bounces back and I still have no plans on adjusting it for several more cycles. PLUS… im drawing on past experience

Apparently my current daily target cals of 3450-3650 a day must be my current Goldie Locks zone. Bodyweight has stayed the same now for 7 mornings in a row.

Putting a cap on my plus sets when pulling from the floor.

Is that from a slipping hook grip?

Yep… that would be my guess since thats how hes been pulling.
