Gained 47 lbs in a year without much waistline variation? Holy freak! How long had you been lifting prior to this? Share your tips man, thats the kind of growth everyone would LOVE to experiment, at least me!
Question…if he had believed that this was impossible to achieve and eaten less to compensate, would that have held back progress?
OK, time out-- let’s nip this in the bud.
PX, suggestion: Copy the quote and take this to another thread.

Agreed.
I would like to hear from Bauber on what you asked.

Not that I care either way, but was his bulk assisted?
I would think that would change a lot of the rules a natty would follow.

Zero flame, just curious.
Agreed or was he up near or half way up that weight before. Muscle memory or rebund can help a ton. He sounded pretty small before hand.
Also no one has said to lean bulk you have to count calories. Some people’s hunger mechanisms work well. Some don’t its trial and error. From 155-205 my waist only went up and inch. Above 205. Not so much.

Bauber is a beast, no doubt. I do believe that he has said that he is assisted, however. I’m not sure how drastically that changes things. Just pointing it out. Also, I think people need to just move on from the whole “how much fat is too much fat” thing. It just causes arguments and really is too subjective. Obviously, Bauber looks great. But, trying to play the guessing game of how big he would have gotten if he had kept it clean the whole way is just a waste in my opinion. There’s really no way of knowing and people are just using “what if?” scenarios to try and make their arguments.
True bulking IMO if you want to do it should only be done assisted as you will net more muscle. Naturals will only gian so much but assisted changes the game. Nutrient usage is much different and anabolism is increased and fat burning is increased.

I don’t know…I think it would drastically change how much you could eat and train. If a natty tried to bulk like an assisted guy on a bulk, I would think that would be a recipe for disaster.
Oh, I believe it would change things. I wasn’t saying that like, “Oh, I doubt that changes much.” More like, “I literally have no idea of how much that changes things.” I’m not versed in anabolics.

I just grow tired of this debate on fat gain/dirty bulking/clean bulking/etc. I, too, am curious about what Bauber has to say. However, I think it’s obvious that some are just hoping to use him for their own agenda. I wish I hadn’t brought him into past discussions in the first place. It wasn’t my right to do so.

It also depends on how much gear and how well they respond. I don’t think it’s THAT much of a difference, maybe an extra 500 calories to 1000 calories depending on LBM. The difference is how well you are rewarded for the same amount of work.
It also depends on the gear itself. There are too many variable to put a number on how much more food you can eat but it will add more muscle and less fat so bulking if you want to do it should only be done with gear IMO. The results will be better. A natty will top out his anabolism and just pile on fat.
I have to study for an exam, but I will try to repost those pictures sometime tomorrow (just got a new laptop), and I’ll go into more detail on what exactly I did. I guess I was vague. I do whole heartedly believe that the closer you get to your genetic limit, the more meticulous you have to be. I just don’t think that my genetic limit is 160 anything.
There no need to shoot for a couple pounds a year until you are at your limit, but even then, I don’t see the need to anything all that spectacular, I think your gains will just naturally taper due to the amount of lean body mass your genetics will allow you to carry.
Based on Bauber’s post in the “Naturals” thread, he was(is) natural in those pics. 220-something with abs (not shredded). I don’t know if that’s true for the pic above I posted.
I guess from my perspective with not having a BB competition goal at this point in my life, I wouldn’t bat an eye at going to the ‘fatness’ Bauber is in the pic above, maybe even a little more, if it meant that I was hitting my 1RM numbers. I’m not much off from his picture above, holding at a steady weight with numbers going up (and 1 belt hole tighter!).
We all know everyone is different and has different approaches for sure. If I were competing often, I would certainly not want to go up too far just to diet back down, but for, say PL’ing or just gym-rat badassery, I don’t think that pic above is even near unacceptable.
Bauber, sorry if you’ve posted this before, but how tall are you and what do you weigh in that pic?

“Gym-rat badassery” haha. That is awesome. Permission to steal that phrase?
Bauber posted this in another thread, so I want to use it as a discussion point.
Bauber - Please discuss where your mind is at in this picture. Are you grossly obese? Is this your limit of fat and you’re starting to cut? Had you been dieting at this point? What is your estimated BF?
I weigh just over 300 in this picture. It was from about two years ago before I dieted down for summer. Every year I have worked on getting back up to a little over 300, but staying leaner, hence putting on more muscle to get to that weight than fat against the previous year.
I will say for competing; it is much easier to stay leaner in the offseason when diet time comes around. Found this out the hard way.
In my mind I felt a little fat in the picture being discussed for what I want to do. Now I would go to this BF % again if it meant packing on a lot more muscle in the process. I can lose the fat and muscle tends to stay on me fairly easily even when dieting.
And estimated BF I have no idea. I would guess 18%ish.
