you take a whole week off to recover from db split squats/db presses/lat pulldowns?
Nothing necessarily wrong with those but I doubt they are making you sore for a week. Especially if you say you only do 1 top set… that means in some cases you are doing 4 sets per week for a bodypart?

lol exactly
fuck this is really bad. I dont even know where to start. OP you are actually at the point where you need to completely unlearn everything youve said here. Youre not at the ‘make adjustments’ phase. This calls for a complete overhaul in your education on the subject.
Im going to say this, but I doubt you’ll follow through as it’s so different from your current way of thinking.
John Meadows, Mountain Dog Diet. If you want to make serious changes, that’s the way to go. If it’s too expensive then at least get something from priciples behind it.
And stop eating macaroni and cheese 3 times a day. Jesus christ.
Oh wow. Your routine may be worse than your diet. Please go read the threads in the TCell that MODOK has started. Or KingBeef’s thread on making a routine in the BB forum.
You’re very similar to me a couple of years ago. What will help you:
up your volume for everything, take a standard bb split like one from kingbeef’s sticky
keep your cals high but focus your carb intake at breakfast, however much you need preworkout, and postworkout. Have enough quality carbs to feel filled out but not too much more
improve your insulin sensitivity, refine your diet by following #2 along with tons of fish oil, vegetables (frozen go easily with beef), cinnamon, green tea, and some cardio

I started doing two top sets for those exercises

That’s actually how I made my split, similar to kingbeefs 5x a week. Its not exactly what he posted, but similar with the exception that he has an exercise or two added in on certain days.
I really didnt know my split was that bad? Definitely a wake up call.

Ok thanks bonez, looking it up now ill get back to you
Here is a sample OP, but if you’re eating hamburger helper 3x a day I’m guessing you can’t afford organic food. The Mountain Dog Diet isn’t really all that different from a regular “clean” bulking diet.
goodluck, read 5/3/1 too or the juggernaut method. ive put on good size since then. also if u focus on strength the rest will fall in place. all the great bodybuilders were strong as fuck (coleman, arnold just two examples)

-Eat organic
-Eat healthy fats
-cut back on carbs
-Eat more Fat
-Eat 6 eggs for breakfast .
[/quote]
Thanks I was looking for the diet, this is a good example. (Although being 6 foot 4 235 I would need probably almost double those cals)
What exactly is the point of eating organic? isnt that just mean the chickens havent been feed hormones or whatever they claim? didnt think that would have benefit to a bodybuilder.
Also, geez everyone is bashing the hamburger helper haha. I jsut eat it because I figured it was ok (its just pasta w/ sauce and ground beef) and its something I can make in bulk. Stopped eating it now though. Actually the past two days ive been afraid to eat anything except chicken breast after this thread lol
Ok so this is what I have gotten from the Mountain Dog Diet:
-eat at least 5 true, organic, free range whole eggs daily.
-eat wild caught salmon
-eat only organic grass fed beef
-cook in virgin coconut oil, and take a tablespoon or two a day as well
-eat the majority of my carbs early in the day and after workout
-eat wheat germ
-take fish oil pills (omega 3’s)
-take red palm oil
-eat grass fed butter
I haven’t found anything on Meadows mentioning healthy carbs? I have so much to learn about eating and bulking healthy its almost overwhelming but I am so excited to learn more

There will be a big price difference going from your current diet to eating all organic foods. There is also a huge difference in the quality of the calories if you replace mac and cheese with the above foods, even if they arent organic.
Most people cant afford to eat grass fed beef all the time, but finding a middle ground between hamburger helper and MDD is probably the best route for a lot of people. I do think the coconut oil needs to be organic for the health benefits though.

x2 on the coconut oil observation. I rarely, have the money for grass fed organic beef…unfortunate but true.
Like Bonez has pointed out…just switching to real meat and vegetables will make a world of difference…organic or not.

You are getting criticized for eating hamburger helper 3x a day because:
it’s all white pasta. Even if you do well with wheat this is straight up dumb for 95% of people.
The hamburger helper HAS lean ground beef in it, I add it in. I am not sticking up for hamburger helper, just making sure you guys realize what it is.
Anyways, I definitely will get at least the eggs and coconut oil organic. And I will stop eating hamburger helper and mac n cheese and crap with white pasta and carbs.
The thing is, how do I get my carbs now? Am I really supposed to eat 4000 calories of salmon, eggs, chicken, beef, and coconut/red palm oil all day?
Also, my shakes have good ingredients: Whey protein, serving of oats, NATURAL peanut butter, and a banana. Since the banana and oats have carbs. is it still ok to have this shake in the morning and post workout?
What kinds of vegetables are the best, and how many servings a day?
Why exactly are pussy vegetables necessary for bodybuilding? (I am definitely starting to eat them for health benefits though, but just wondering about how it would be beneficial for bodybuilding besides making me full so I cant get in extra cals from protein.)
