Buffet Training No More

Yay for you!!! Hahahhahahaha I DIED laughing when I heard Susie say, “get it bitch!” I swear it would be so much funnier if everyone here had met Susie… she is a TRIP!

Anyway, I am SO PROUD OF YOU! Your bench is INSANE and I bet you could have powered through 195 too… oh well… save it for comp day! =D

So excited! See you Monday at 6!

I concur with everyone- that bench was awesome! Overall it looks like you’ve made some amazing progress since you started this journey!

And I agree about the squat being the scariest. I think that thing that’s unnerving about itis it’s hard to keep everything balanced when you’re trying a higher weight.

Squat 195 235

deadlift not tested 280

bench 135 185

I have videos uploading!!!

Over all I’m pretty happy abou the progress these last few months.

I feel like I should have been able to squat more. I think I got intimidated of the weight on my back. I had no expectations with the deadlift so that was just fun. With the bench I think I could have made 190 but the guy spotting me thought 185 looked so easy that I should just go to 195. He ended up helping me although I probably could have powered through it. I was exhausted by this point and was ready to be done. [/quote]

Nicely done and one hell of a bench you got there!

THANKS everybody!!! It was great to complete the program. Now I can focus on my first competition in May.

When I saw the video for the first time I died laughing and then played it over and laughed some more. She sent me a text message calling me a benchtastic hookerface yesterday. Only from her would I think of this as the ultimate compliment.

Awesome numbers!!! You did unreal. Did you test the other movements as well? Broad jump/pull ups?

Now for my analysis

As far as the squat goes, you moved around and fidgeted so much before you settled (we’ll call it the Ouro disease, however I think she’s cured of that now) that you used a lot of energy up before you started the lift. As you prep for your meet, try to start unracking, take a step back and then two steps to set your feet. Then don’t move.

You can hold in that position as you settle and get your air, but try to stop moving your feet (and shaking your ass) so much.

Your deadlift looked super easy, so I think you have lots more in that still. Did your right arm swing away from your body a little at the beginning? I had to watch the video a few times and I’m still not sure what happened in that lift. It looked like your arm swung away so you had to fight to get the bar back close to your body.

Then I don’t know if you got caught in your shorts or if you hitched the bar (let it rest on your thighs a bit) but you do some weird bobbing movement at the end lol. However, given that was a near max (I say near because you didn’t have to fight enough to get the bar off the floor :P) your form was TONS better than when you posted your first vid.

As for your bench, I can’t say shit cuz mine sucks  You set up well, have a great arch, and stayed tight through the lift.

You rock  Now, can I have 10lbs of that bench please?

PS. Are you squatting in runners? If so, you will feel tons more stable if you move to a shoe with a solid base. I think Molly uses the Vibram 5 fingers (or whatever they are called) so I’m sure she can attest to feeling more stable when you don’t have a squishy base in your shoe. I have moved to (pink) chucks and am really liking them.

When you squat in a runner you get some compression in the shoes which will screw with your balance. They may also give you a tendency to put the weight more on your toes and not on your heels since your heels compress. Just another thought

Squishy runners not only affect your balance but absorb some of the force of the lift. Part of the push out of the hole is absorbed into the squishiness. If that makes any sense.

The feet I can definitely work on for the comp. The ass shaking is totally out of my control. It’s actually another life form attached to my back.

I think I had my hands too close because my and got caught under my quad. I have a big bruise and scratch to prove it. So next time I am going to pull my hands a little wider when I start.

As for the ease of the pull, I did go up from here to 295. Unfortunately I couldn’t get it up, but I did get the most hilarious video out of it. I will post it tonight for everyone’s viewing enjoyment.

I will trade 10lbs of bench for 10kg of squat. Exchange rate is a bitch… HAHA

All I have to say here is that I’m a dunce. I had my runners on but brought my bright red ronald mcdonald converse for deadlift and squat. I like to bench in runners because it helps me reach the ground a little easier (I’m kind of short). Somehow in all of my excitement I left my runners on for the squat but changed into my cons for the deadlift. THEN I forgot to change back to the runners for my bench.

This definitely didn’t help my squat cause. I think it will be much better for the competition. I am definitely going to work on minimizing the foot movement and I will try to keep the wardrobe malfunctions under control.

Thanks again for all of the analyses! They definitely will come in handy as I prep for my singlet debut!

Here is for everyone’s viewing plessure! Me attempting and failing at 295.

What the hell happened there? You did all the tough work and totally spazzed at the top. You can do it easily and a lot more than that. Just don’t be retarded on the lock out.

Sorry I can’t offer a more specific mechanical analysis than that. I’ll leave that to Court. Nice to see you were wearing the right shoes though.

Smiley face (that always makes everything better)

You started raising your hips before the bar moved from the floor so you were in a shitty, weak position when it came to the lockout. You couldn’t use your hips/glutes cuz those were already forward and you were trying to ‘muscle’ it up with your back. All you ended up doing was look spazzy.

I had to watch the video a few times because the first two I laughed really hard at your spazziness and fighting with the bar (note to you: when the bar starts to go down the first time, your lift is over. All you do after that is provide entertainment for me), the next I was trying to figure out if the girl in the background was just wearing underwear and then the fourth and fifth I finally watched your form

Thanks for the laugh. Mucho appreciated  I might bookmark this page of your thread and title it “If you’re having a shitty day watch the video from March 30”. A bit of a long title, but it’s the thought that counts  hahaha

PS. All I do is watch videos of people deadlifting (including mine) to see where they struggle or what they look like when it looks super easy. I might video my deads next time I do them cuz I’ll be going heavy. Then you can laugh at me.

Oh and the whole shoes explanation is hilarious. You need to get a label-maker and label your shoes. That would be something else you need to check before setting up

Hahahah that video makes me laugh all over again!

P.S. Court - the girl in the background is our other training partner Susie (she spells it Siouxsie)… she is actually wearing one of her MOST CONSERVATIVE outfits in this video… no lie! She wears (or doesn’t wear) some interesting stuff! hahaha

She also provided the commentary in the squat video, “Get it bitch!” and she is also the one that called Sbmart a “benchtastic hookerface”… as you can imagine… she is a TRIP to train with! And she is LEGIT squatting and DL-ing more than 2x her BW and Benching about 1.2x her BW…

I would hate her if she wasn’t so frickin’ cute!

I don’t have any room to laugh here, but I was laughing WITH you! :stuck_out_tongue:

I think spaz sums it up nicely!

Note to self: no more retarded lockouts.

Thanks for the breakdown. I will definitely work on keeping my ass from raising before I start lifting. I’m actually impressed that you were able to make an analysis out of this piece of work! Between Susie running around scantily clothed and the crazy bar acrobatics it’s hard to know what to look at.

Yes it’s true. I’m a complete spaz in and out of the gym. That probably explains why I have trouble doing simple things like putting the right shoes on, remembering where I’m going while driving, and remembering what I’m supposed to be doing at any given moment. I’m actually quite surprised that I was wearing the same two shoes. I think investing in a labeling device may be the best advice ever!

I’m definitely laughing! My mom made it a point to embarrass us so much as children that I no longer have any fear of public humiliation. I don’t know if this is a good thing, but it did make for some great childhood stories!
