This was lots of fun (for me anyway, I think mmgalb may think differently ;D). I got to use the belt and I LOVED it. It was so much easier to tighten my core on the lift. Big Jim was there to give lots of needed help with my form.
Ummm… yeah because I tried to commit suicide via deadlifting. DEATH BY DEADLIFT! Or a DEADLIFT MARATHON whatever you want to call it. Either way it was painful. I did about 4 sets of DL’s ranging from 135-225 in a matter of 3-4 minutes… I almost puked. Still feeling a little funny… Hmm… will let you know about Friday. Good Job today!

There isn’t too much to it so sorry if my answer isn’t super nerdy. Plates only go up to 45 lbs so in order to increase the weight you have to use a bar.
I know Molly said it felt harder on the back but I found it quite a bit easier. This has more to do with body mechanics I imagine. The physics guy down the hall from me could probably give a pretty nerdy answer for why this, but my nerdiness lies elsewhere, so I will give you the answer that makes sense to me. I have ridiculously stumpy arms so I can’t wrap my arms around the weight to hold it comfortably. Molly on the other hand, is 7 inches taller than me so she doesn’t have the short arm problem.
But keep in mind, you need someone to help you if you plan to do it with the bar. So if you don’t have anyone to hand you the weight then stick with plates.

I am totally jealous my gym does not have a cambered bars!
