Budda's weight gain log...

Hang in there man.

Im gonna try and do chest today, followed by Triceps.

If I don’t feel perfect, just Triceps.

I ordered a TENS, Muscle Stim unit yesterday online. Very small unit, several speeds and levels,

gonna try it on my elbows for the tendonitis. It only costs $ 19.95…hope it lasts more than a

week !!!

Man Budda, I really want you to get better bro. I feel horrible coming in here too read this log and knowing you can’t hit the weights like you want too. Why exactly is this illness hitting you for so long?? it seems you’ve been sick for 2 straight weeks.

Thanks guys. Two straight weeks is about right! I’m not coughing anymore which is a good thing (touch wood).

I think I just caught this virus (through bad luck) which gave me the cough, then with a weakened immune system I caught the flu and this stomach upset bug or whatever the fuck it is. I’m feeling a little better today though I still have no energy, I’ve been sleeping lots which can only be doing me good since I’m such a light sleeper; in fact I think regularly not getting enough sleep probably contributed to this as it would have stressed my immune system.

Anyways: I weighed myself and I’m 217LB, so thats like a ten pound loss in a week! The doctor said they can’t do anything for virus’s as antibiotics wont work so I have to wait it out :frowning:

Make no mistake I’ll be back hitting the weights as soon I am able! I know people have different opinions on training when ill, but I know at best the workout will be unproductive and frustrating or more likely I’ll get injured. I love to train and I know when I’m up to it or not.

Hey Bro! Here what my mind told me when I got a sinus infection and lost ten in a week…OH MY GOSH!!! How am I going to get it back, I worked so hard, etc…

Don’t worry. That ten came back in 10 days. It’s like filling your tank back up…comes back easier than normal.

Also, When you are sooo frustrated that you can’t stand waiting any longer…and you go to the gym…why not try starting with smaller muscles like Tri’s and Calves…on your first couple workouts. I know you are frustrated…and this will come out in your first lifts back…so would encourage you to try small muscles…go easier on the Cent Nervous System…and go easier on you just being sick.

Just an idea…hell I feel for you !!!

I felt about 75 % yesterday, and did Tris Calves and Leg raises for ABs. Got a great workout in. Wanted to do chest, but just being in there with some weight was awesome on a day I felt so-so. Woke up this morning my 9 year old, and her tonsils are so big they are rubbing together. Breaks my heart. Literally.

That also means there is an infection in the house, so need to up the vitamins and rest.

I ordered some Geranium…which actually goes by the name of 1,3-Dimethylamylamine last week, and
got it in today. I read some about it…it is apparently used in a LOT of pre workouts as a mild
stimulant that works well with caffeine.

I made a mistake? well, we’ll see… but when it came today it was in a little packet marked 1 Gram.
And it came with a little tiny scoop, a little bigger than a pin head. Says 2-3 scoops is about 25 mg,
which is a good starting dose.

DMAA is a blood vessel constrictor, which may work against a good pump…but I am using Cocoa and Creatine,
so they may override this result. It comes from the Geranium plant, literally. I have not been using
any pre workout, and wondered about throwing this in my pre shake.

I did put a couple little scoops in some water a while ago at work. It is a very calm stimulant. No jitters, just kinda made me focus more clearly. Problem, it goes to work in 10 minutes due to it being so raw in powder form. So might have to drink that in water or dissolve it in mouth when I get to gym and wash it down.

I also read on Creatine last week…how it is really hard to dissolve. Watched a video, then tried it. Video showed how much faster it dissolves in warm water, rather than cold. I started dropping two capsules into hot water, then cooling it, and throwing it in my pre drink. At times I have not had good results with Creatine, and I think that has been due to it not being dissolved in my system…maybe a day when I didn’t drink enough water that day in the gym.

Still learning…but the DMAA is really inexpensive. In cap form, I can get 200 - 20mg doses for 14 bucks…when a Superpump can goes for maybe 40-50 doses, and costs over 20. I got the Gram, which is
40 doses, for 8-9 bucks. That ain’t as cheap, but I just got the G to try it.

Hey Budda, been a few days since i checked in, still sick?! I feel for you man

I’m still not great but been working outdoors for the past week which i dont think has helped.

Hope you get better soon matey, want to see that scale weight fly up again and some lifing pb’s before long!

HEY YOU GUYS! It’s back on like donkey-kong!

Feeling better yesterday but I had such a long day at work I decided to wait until today to train (I had energy at the end of the day which was a good sign). The last couple of days I’ve been quite hungry and craved carbs so I’ve just been feeding my body what it’s been asking for: shit loads of ice cream (ben and jerry’s on half price, snickers, haribo sweets etc) I haven’t weighed myself but I feel heavier.

Anyway, hit the gym today for the first proper workout in weeks.

Incline bench press 50 x 10, 60 x 5 70 x 5, 75 x 3, 80 x 5, 80 x 3, x3, x4
parallel grip chin x45 in sets of 3 and 5

calf raises single leg L&R x10 x15 x15 x10 x10 x10

Food: morning a protein shake with MCT and fiber.

between waking and pre workout 3 sugar free redbulls

Pre workout: 2 snickers

1400: 4 turkey breast fillets and a double portion of whole grain microwave rice in pasta sauce.

1530: Large pork roll

1600: large protein bar

1800: 2 scoops rocky road ice cream.

I’m ravenous after those squats!

2030: protein shake with MCT and fiber

2300: walked the dog to tesco and bought a half price tub of ben and jerrys and a ‘cough’ small packet of doritos that I ate on the way home.

I’m gonna have to buy some fruit to snack on

Thanks TX! I’m on the mend now I think

I think I’m on the mend now Dre, appetites back and I managed a decent (considering) workout!

Just weighed myself: 224LB

I think most of it returned over the last couple of days, but no its not too bad

Time to play catch up…

Budda!! finally mate, back to normal. Glad to hear it…i bet you’re relieved and all and like TX said, given all you’ve been through 224lbs aint all that bad

No I’m quite pleased with that (224LB); I was expecting some weight loss since I’m on a HRT dose of test now (not a gram LOL) so what with the illness it’s not too bad I suppose.

morning: protein shake with MCT and fiber.

1100-ish: pre workout 2 snickers and a RSE drink

1230: PWO stuffed myself with chicken fajitas! comprised of extra peppers and 4 chicken fillets.

1500: protein shake with fiber

1600: french bread with marmite

1800: protein shake with MCT

2130: 4 turkey breast fillets in pasta sauce

Workout UPPER BODY:

Flat BP with bands (concentrating on explosiveness/fast movement not weight)
50% (just under actually) plus blue bands: 6 sets of 3-5 stopped when I couldn’t ‘explosively’ any-longer.

Chins x 30 in sets of 3-5
dips x 40 in sets of 5-10
1 legged calf raises between sets

After yesterday my triceps were exhausted, I need to remember I can’t do as much volume as before (with the extra test) but I want to bring my arms up, I think my arms and chest are my weakest body parts. I’m actually glad of this as it will be more fun bringing up lagging arms than lagging legs, though at 6.2" adding inches to my arms won’t be easy by any stretch of the imagination!

Tomorrow I’m hoping to to band DL’s to technical failure i.e. I’ll stop when I feel explosiveness is lost, going for at least 10 x 2. then I’m shooting for 3-5 sets of 2 minutes squatting on the belt squat with 60KG which is approximately 50% 1RM.

I took this today after my workout. My upper arms are awful, I’ll keep doing calves between sets but I’m going to have to start working them into a couple of workouts a week to bring them up. The pullups seem to hit my lats more, I think the revised plan now regarding dips and pullups is to add weight, say 10kg and work up to being able to do 50 dips and 50 pullups with that extra weight

took this as well.

yesterday, not a great photo but will allow me to compare to future pictures to gauge progress.

Woke up about 0900, late for me as I had a really late night last night (no alcohol though).

0930: sugar free relentless drink and a protein shake with MCT and fiber.

1200: sugary RSE drink and a snickers pre workout

Legs: DL 60 kg x3 x3, 80 x 3

90Kg (50% 1RM) plus purple band
90 x 1, x2, x2
90Kg plus blue band
90Kg x2, x2, x2, x2, x2, 90 x2, x2

timed belt squats in olympic shoes
60 Kg x 3 minutes
60 Kg x 2 mins x 2 mins

Hey Budda, back in the saddle !!!

I met a client at the gym and did legs with her. Funny thing, I am 6’1" and 205, a total CRACKAH !
Patty is 5’1", if that, and 175. She is portly, and we are working on that. But she wants to train
for a powerlifting meet, and we are doing it together. We must have looked like a pair, total opposite looking people. But she works harder than any other client I have.

We did Goblet Squats,

1 set of 12 with one 50 lb Dumbell
1 x 12 holding two 50’s
1 x 10 holding two 70’s
2 x 10 holding two 80’s

Then we did two sets of Zurcher squats on the SMITH machine. Going down a lot farther than I ever have today felt great. I only had like 90 lbs on the SMITH ,but working on my form.

Then we did Leg presses, and Ham Curls to finish.

Great workout. She did everything I did. A lot lighter…but she did great !
