Brute's Book

Free foam is super easy. Find a furniture store amd check by the dumpster. They pickup memory foam mattresses all the time. Cut the cover off and slice out whatever size you need. (Without leaving a mess of course) A good sharp, long kitchen knife will work.

You could even cut a couple of smaller blocks and stack them for a landing pad for your log. (Possibly have to hot glue them together)

I talked to the guy at my local store and got permission but you may have steal garbage covertly where you are.

Oh my!!! Thank you!!! Ha ha!!!

I um…already have some pads in the works for my log! I have succombed and was waiting until the full package showed up to share!

I ordered some Titan Crash pads…to use on my new boyfriend Mr Sand Bag Platform. He’s SOLID!

He moved in last week and I put him together ! I picked up a 100# mini sad bag too on the black Friday sale…once the pads come in I’m going to be all set for HOME SANDBAG LOADING PARTIES!!!

Malibu Walk! The way back was hard. Not difficult hard but in the perma-snow that happens this time of year. The snow that’s melted partway in the day, then refrozen over at night, then melted again for a few days of this cycle of slick hard death= treacherously slippery and hard, hurt your hips walk.

My left bicep is sore today too. Its my dog holding arm and I’ve had my share of solid compact frenchies who are post op back surgery who need to be carried everywhere, a screaming chi-weenie dog who only is quiet when held for hours (trust me the level of volume and pitch of dog screaming that happens if you put this dog down is WAYYYYYY worse then the ache from holding him for hours), scuffing and streching out cats for various restraint needs…my bicep is sore!

A very busy work week too. A case that was ridiculous and ended exactly how it should have ended days before wihtout the drawn out proscess of suffering for the dog.
The owners had other ideas. 3 days on a ventilator, a blood transfusion, sepsis …long story short if was a geriatric dog with a Chordae tendineae rupture ( his heart was breaking apart due to years of congestive heart failure) who really wanted to die but was not allowed to…until he did in epic and grand scale.

A lot of times the owners just don’t know what their pets go through when heroic measures are taken and its very hard to see. They think if they can try they should…or that if they do something medically- that is very expensive- that its a guarantee of success. Medicine is not that straight forward. Its up to the vet to be very clear to them the chances of getting through things, and my vets do this. STILL a lot of times I get upset when it goes too far.

Money doesn’t buy everything! I get very judgmental in cases like this…so much money spent on an animal who was suffering and needed to go to heaven, so much money that could have been spent on helping causes that have a hope of making a difference in someone’s life.

However these people did not want to stop and they had unlimited resources, and kept seeing pieces of the problem and not the MASSIVE one of this dog is beyond hope…and they also requested samples so they can clone this dog.

Cloning a dog is $50,000. I get VERY judgmental!! Not my place I know, and I am respectful and keep my mouth shut of course-- but I get judgmental!

These types of cases make me crazy–and I get angry at the vets who allow this…I get upset a the entire situation! Just because you can does NOT mean you should!!!

The new roomie’s showed up today!

Here’s a first attempt to determine noise/accoustic impact . I have decided to use the double blue padding, do it has less to fall so less wham factor. Also to be tested is adding a memory foam pillow on top to reduce the “whap!” of the bag on the plastic covering, and to reduce the distance the bag falls as well.

I’ll figure it out!!! I warmed up to test the thing by doing a indoor sandbag carry of my new red bag which has 70# in it x 5 mins.

I was BAREFOOT. Now , THAT is luxury!!! :D! Then I thought I could even do quiet drags with this tube sand I have that I am going to use to fill up the sandbag more later.

I am enjoying this experiments with home lifting! I didn’t think I would, as in the past I just never had a good lifting vibe inside my place, however that has changed! Now I can get my mind in the right groove and everything. This is how I started lifting weights though, in my rented trailer in the middle of nowhere Texas with plastic cheap weights and an ezbar bar and a am/fm alarm clock radio for getting pumped up, no headphones or even a CD player.

It feels good to have that option again, to open the mental door up --To do work :)!!

I’ve been sharing my diy stuff with my twinnie the engineer, to get her input. I shared the dragging idea and she volunteered Lum The Newfie on His Bed for my next dragging implement.

MALIBU WALK!

Nice! I am on the fence of checking out a gym near by. The gym looks ok, I’m mostly interested in seeing what fancy stuff they might have that’s closer to me then the strongman gym.

This would involve going there though…and talking to people about my lifting–both things I don’t enjoy. As much as I log here, logging is a very low key way to share my interests and document my training with much less traffic of other people- which for me works great.

Its private stuff I write! Even if its only my lifts, I don’t share that with anyone in my day to day life even with people who have known me my entire life. Its a way to bond with another person, and its risky to share !

Partially because they can’t relate and because…well, its very personal for me and its entangled with a lot of things about me that I hold very close. When or if I am asked about it I keep it to the point and answer specific questions only! Then try to change the subject OR flee the scene!

Anywho. I could just drive there and see! They um…have atlas stones.

oh press x5, oh carry x 5 steps, 4/4,3/3,2/2 with 40# fixed bar

That’s that! Cool! I’d like to amend my liquid chalk review–its great UNDER a layer of normal chalk! I tried it last week and today for the carries and it was a good combo. I have a chalk “ball” which is basically a sock with chalk inside it not a real chunk of chalk so the chalk never could get more then a thin dusting, with the two together its great!

I checked out the gym. It’d be great for a powerlifter but not enough toys for me! The 2 stones they have are super duper slick and they don’t have a platform for them yet, they appear to just be dipping their toes in strongman stuff.

The hours are kinda 24-sorta- but not really so that’s big ol zero. Very nice people and very cool, however I think once they see what the stones will do to their floors…they won’t have them around inside anymore! It appear to be a more group training type gym too- another big ol NOPE.

I hate triceps.

Done! Not a great pull up day. Not sure why, might just need some rest. Anywho, I’ve also changed to false grip on the pull ups in hope to be less bicep involvement. My left bicep so far is ok, however its scares me how sore it can get --not HUGELY sore but my right never gets sore so there has to be something up with training as well as in my day to day activities.

I do not want to muck about tearing anything ever again–and a biceps tear requires surgery! I was very lucky my hamstring eventually healed up on its own even though it took 2 years plus. So the false grip has been a great change to be more back and less everything else on my arms. Also I have popped some arm sleeves on here and there which help, cheapo $12 ones do just fine.
