  3. I am, by no means, a doctor. Have you ever had a functional movement screening? From this standpoint, the only thing I really see is some shaking on the way up which could be a little piriformis inactivity. (NOT to be confused with piriformis disorder!) It doesnt look so severe that I would guess it do be deeply rooted and require therapy of any sort…just maybe some single leg glute activation work prior to squats for the next few weeks. Have you been sitting a bit more lately or driving? Sometimes a lot of hip flexor activity can cause in imbalance in how we pull with our glutes/posterior chain. Also, have your hams been more sore than normal?

Betty Bombshell- I think I’ve just become increasingly self conscious of how wierd it looks compared to other lifters. :{ Makes me feel like a spoooodge.

Thanks Dashy :smiley: thanks for eyeballing my stuffs! ! ! …No, I’ve not changed my habits sitting and driving etc in a few years really. Hammies have been normal, but right leg is stronger for Bulgarians and lunges too.

Hip flexor wise I can only really point out that I lift off with my left leg. I think now I can’t remember but i do do a single leg lift off for all of my squats typically. Single leg glute activation sounds like a good idea too. I dunno, my hips have been sore the last year or so, getting up from the floor, my stride is shorter sometimes too.

I’m going to try wider stance next. Why the hell not? :slight_smile:


did my pull ups and they were TOUGH. Placed my hands farther out. I typically have a fairly close grip. 9 sets of 4, one set of 3. Hard, ugly , but done.

My squats look like your squats (LESS WEIGHT OBVIOUSLY :P).
I dunno, maybe one leg is longer than the other leg?

glad to see you are still fighting Sheiko style.

lopsided lift: activation and plenty of it. stretching and such. If there is a strenght imbalancement you can look into single leg work once your done with this. Sheiko is not about pretty lifts. I would suggest work on form some but don’t overthink it all. Once you’re done with Sheiko you can take a step back and work on form specific things. Remeber the don’t chase 2 rabbits at once or you’ll loose both.

I remember being confused when I got this same advice, I think from Beasty too, but then someone said to think of it as being a proud warrior rather than just a back thing, and that clicked for me. Maybe it will for you too?

my fiance who’s a trainer always tells me to tighten my back to. usually i tighten my traps and lats and stick my chest out. seems to straighten it all out.

That brings to mind a few things that sprung up today in my life. Man have I retreated for a LONG time…but yeah. Makes me feel unseasoned as a human. And rather pink and raw. SENSITIVE BRUTE. SEEPY GOOEY HEARTED BRUTE.

Anyways, training wise was nothing today. I got called into work last night for a graveyward shift and didn’t get off until 7am. So I just slept a bit and got the Kraken filled in.

Today i tried to do deads and benching, I go about half way through and had to stop–using a lot of back and I was sick last night and still feel off… I’ll make it up later. relax and chill the next few days.

I shifted my stance wider and turned my toes out slightly, and it stopped corkscrewing at the weight I work at fwiw.

Brute, your squats looked fine to me. I showed BB too and he couldn’t see any glaring problems. What about them makes you think that they’re off? I realize that’s a pretty light weight for you though so any issues might not be apparent.

I did FS today and was channeling your energy. It’s weird, I always think about you when I do them. See what a good influence you are :slight_smile:

Arachne–One thing I did notice today I tired a real wide stance with a bar only looked in the mirror on the side and realized the difference in depth. DAMM. Wider seems easier to hit depth, more efficient i guess. It made me excited :slight_smile:

NADIA:D I dunno where Alexus is :frowning: I hope she’s ok… I’ll tell you though since I switched to wider grip pull ups, my lats are STILL sore today. But they were flaring out last night…Baby’s getting lats :slight_smile:

Hallowed–oh yeah, I barfed last night :{ Something I ate was bad and I got sick , I felt better afterwards and ate loaves of bread in a starving hunger later . now I feel like a walking bruise. I’ve been neglecting my protein intake so that’s part of it–> Need to get my albumin up.
