Brute's Book

Brute: Good for you for doing a program! Sometimes it’s good to take the thinking and the emotion out of training. Follow the progression. Trust it will lead you where you want to go and then done! Keep killing it.

This, all of this.

Nice job on the front squats. You know, every time I do them, I think of you. I haven’t gotten up to your numbers yet but I’m trying hard.

Here’s a question for you… how do you manage high reps on front squat. I have the bar racked right against my throat and end up light headed by reps 6 or 7.

Good job on the energy drinks. I don’t much care for them. I have to admit I have a love of Jack d 3D but don’t use it often because I train mostly in the evenings and am a suck about getting to sleep.

My face will have to be touching yours for us to share a hat…

Yay my life!

isn’t he massive Hallowed? Gahhh

Nadia- that’s pretty spot on! Its a relief to just plug in numbers. I admit it! :D!

lol. This cracked me up. Fuck him.[/quote]

hey patch  ! ! !

O-- :)! ! ! I have a vid of one of my front squats today. its not pretty and was a 4th set of 2’s. so please don’t judge the cave, but I couldn’t see my hand placement. SO I also froze a frame for ya of a bar only one. The bar doesn’t feel like it chokes me, but it dunno if you have it closer to your chest or what. I kinda use my shoulder caps to keep it in place. kinda. And I’m even starting to stick my tongue out in the clip. I didn’t realize I did this wiht a bar only lift too!!!

–today i woke up at 8 am which is way weird since I went to bed at 4 this morning. What’s stranger is I wasn’t even tired so WORD!! extra long weekend day

I’ll tell you…thank god I don’t do over nights anymore. I’ve been able to sleep 8-9 hours a night. EVERY NIGHT. Wonderful  I’m thankful for every single minute of it.

stepmill 20 mins

a vid and a pict

***Also I’ve noticed my issue with leg strength. I notice on vids that I have a definite cork screw style for some things when the going gets tough --even on deads. I feel like a chump and now that I’ve seen it I can’t un-see it.

So I looked around and got some ideas on how to fix this–box squats, good girl/bad girl machines. ALSO widen my stance, and place my toes out a bit. We’ll see. Its hard for me to correct it… especially on the big beefy ones…when I only want it the wt go up and I don’t care how it gets there.

I also like O’s idea of Anderson type sq for back squats–starting a bit out of the hole to work weak ears. So many options…so many. I really want to stick with this program. I don’t know when to implement these tweaks, but I think it best to focus on my worst lift form wise- squats. And chances are I need to start out with light enough wt anyways to do things well. Maybe I’ll do THAT on my Tuesdays. Squat school …again.

And another good thing O reminded me of was the mirror issue. SO I can fix that by going to rmlc where there’s no mirrors for some of the racks. Get my feel on.

ok! thought bubble is over

God marry me plz.

What do you mean by cork screw style?

You’re flipping amazing, btw.

I wonder what the people in your gym think of your insane strength. Does anyone try to talk to you and ask you questions about shit?

 HALLOWED  I BLUSH!

SPOCK! Thanks! Well, its hard to see in this vid but I have a tendency to kinda move my knees together to get stuff up when I squat. Its more obvious on my back squats, but I saw a bit of it today on frotnies :{

Deadzos to. I kinda clench my knees together to get reps out. WHILE I’M AT IT I also rock on my feets. I’m fun. Full of party dancing when I lift apparently :}

Oh and at the normal gym like 24 hours fitness sometimes I’ll get recognized by fellow loser/awesome gymmers -like me!-- who go to all five or so local 24 hour fitness’s within the 20 mile radius of my house  Its cool because we’re all psychos in our own ways but we are at least reliable in our habits and we remember each other.

One guy stopped me last week who hadn’t seen me in at least 5 years because he was all surprised my hair was short–I had it long for a while before .An old marine dude who used to talk to me while I’d do (way high) squats in the smith machine for an hour…yeah…I used to do that. He used to talk to me about how he can’t get over his genetic flaws and how his 6 miles a day is never enough… and what not. Typical psycho amateur but passionate gym weirdos  I’m one of them.

Fuuuuuck! Ouro playfully suggested I catch up to you and I jokingly pointed out that I only have 100lbs to go. I thought it was a joke, apparently not.

I never see the videos… WTF???

Are you saying your knees buckle on heavy lifts? If I could see a video, MAYBE I could give an opnion! lol

I just ALWAYS focus on driving my knees out to track my toes on all squats. My foot placement is fairly narrow to MAYBE medium and I am turned out about 45 degrees to get enough clearance for my torso to drop between my legs. I just really hammer those knees outward and really feel it in my glutes… hard to explain but I will get you some good vids in my log to see.

The picture… my my… I am a fan.

RWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!

(I always get so hyped up in here. Good vibes indeed!)

EDIT

I see you already found to turn the toes out and maybe run your feet a bit wider… Good stuff!

also, core strength to keep more up right?

yay Brute StRengTh!!!

Hey Texican  Thanks…but oh …man…I know…I gotta drive out those damm knees:{ I tend to just clench up into a full body-fist to push it up!!! Clench!!!

MIM–I think I depend a bit to much on my core…i dunno. I think I need more ass, hammy, strength??

today.
Well, i was kinda tired so it was a decent overhead squat day, I had to fight for everything. I’m ok with it
135x8,140x8, 135x8 x 4 sets
stepmill 20 mins

OH and I ran into one if my supervisors at the gym. GAWD :{

Holy overheads!!! I’m so jelly! I aim to make you proud every time I do overheads ( with muuuuch less weight, mind you)

Don’t clench too hard!! You’ll pop something!!! Lol

I really focus on my arch, abs, hamstring tightness, knees, then toes… Like a mini check list as I’m taking the squat down then feeling bottom and smashing the weight up in victory. Sweet, sweet victory!!!

OH!!! DASHER!!! I love being thought of especially with ohs  Aren’t they wonderful? Make your butt feel cupped by invisible hands

All the single ladies should do them. Secret OHS lover…

Texican!!! That’s a issue for me!!! THINKING while doing squats. I’ve been on auto drive for thousands of years You’re absolutely right. I gotta think…and squat? FUCK :{ I think enough while benching …and I hate it.

pull up assignment is done 8 sets of 4, 2 sets of 3.

Hate it… Maybe. But you CAN do it… And you only have to do it with the really heavy weight. Mindless warm up sets probably ok

Gonna have to disagree Hallowed… sorry, dear!

You have to ingrain the thought process from rep one, set one. Attack all warm up sets like they’re heavy and treat all heavy sets like they’re light. (if that makes sense)

I had to do that and my squat is a thousand times better. Every lift is actually. It takes time and I know you’re impatient, kinda like me! But we have to do this to get ourselves into auto pilot when the weight gets heavy enough to pop our eyes outta their sockets. Last but not least, NO MIRRORS!!! I tell all my trainees that and it makes a world of difference. You don’t squat with the front of your body, so why are you looking at it? When you can feel the posterior chain throughout the movement, you’re doing it right!

Also, I almost got shot today. haha EXCITEMENT EVERYWHERE!!! YAYYYYYY!!!
