wow, tough news Brute (hugs)
I would say to keep doing what your doing. We’re only here for a short while…lifting has nothing to do with MS. Weight training has SAVED some people that I know of.

My mom gets panicked attending my meets. Remember, that to be a lifter, you have to take care of yourself, and that means eating right, getting plenty of sleep, and paying attention to how your body feels. Most young women ignore themselves and rely on youth. By becoming more aware of your body and able to differentiate between normal aches and scary aches, you’re ahead of the game.
Also, you look like you’re slender and white…you need weight bearing exercise to stave off osteoporosis!
My coach is 49 and whenever he has back pain, he goes and deadlifts and it fixes it.
We might not always be able to throw up the weights we do - but keeping your body in use is what keeps it young.
Thanks MiM and PMPM ![]()
its odd you say that because in the six months i’ve become more aware of my body’s oddities its recovery needs, just feeling my age in a good way. I think this has to do with actually calming the fuck down finally. I’ve changed quite a bit in the last year for the better i believe. Have calmed down, have shed some of the perpetual panic, rage, anxiety, just wierdo crap and other misc stuff i toted around for a good 16 years or so.
And I’ve been single— absolutely no bonds or ties to a dude, needy female friend or any of that for the first time in nine years. I really actually do do what i want now! I’ve had relationships end of course but I always had that string attached whether i wanted it or not depending on the guy. Now I’m free and clear, living for me and its reaped some nice benefits! End Oprah moment. ![]()
double post…
OH! I’ve booked my days off for the December meet…rain or shine Brute’s in.
you go girl!!
![]()
wow girl you’re really getting yourself in a good place. way to go!
sorry to hear about your family. I totally believe that lifting helps your muscles and bones stay nice and strong.
now I have something to look forward to this winter ![]()
:)! thanks MiM deja and n!!
today’s results…
Ohhhh ee…oooww
Overhead squats 115x9, 120x8x3 sets
Front squats 135x15, x12,x9,x9 155x 6 I should have not done the7th rep, instantly I felt that bad form happen and my coccyx area freaking out.
So I abandoned further wtâ??s and figured out how to do reverse hypers ( quite happy I found a set up that works really well for this at 24 hour fitness!) and did sets of those to try and troubleshoot whatever i could.,. It felt better fairly quickly but I am going to be sore sore the next few days. my entire ass in on fire as i speak.
Since I ditched wts I did a slew of glute activation stuff that always makes my cheeks wink in excitement and sore awesomeness the next day. I really need to be mindful of my front squats, I wasnâ??t thinking and my form failed–and instantly it went from mindless squatting to freak out my tail bone hurts… Lame.
Did ghetto ghrâ??s x40 also sets if body wt rows 5x8. i just tried to paint my toes and…its not happening. all objects on the floor are not going to be picked up for a good 36 hours i’d say. :}
Ahh, the baggage we all carry.
So sorry for your family’s issues. That’s tough news.
About the lifting, my mother is not in favor either and has never watched me at a meet. She thinks it’s an undignified sport. Whatever. You have to do what you love in life.
Great news about the December meet. I’ll be there.

Well…duh.
Yay some exciting stuff going on in here with all the recent benching and upcoming meet! Not so exciting stuff to hear about the health crisis in your family though
To what extent can the symptoms be managed with diet/lifestyle? Also I have heard that there have been recent breakthroughs in research on MS, so perhaps there will be innovative treatments available in the near future. It will definitely be a huge challenge for your niece growing up, but I know you will be a excellent strong female figure in her life to offer support.
Moms, how they worry. Every time I talk to my mom before I train she tells me to make sure to “take it easy” and not “push myself too hard” or “go too heavy” and she will always ask me how much weight I’m lifting now and get all anxious when I tell her even though she has no frame of reference and the numbers are arbitrary to her, lol.

Oh fuck you. Sex isn’t real refined either, but she must have done that.
hey owlie!–i’m not exactly sure the whole dynamics of the diet way to manage flair ups.
but in the brief info i have on MS points to any thing that limits the likelihood of stenosis or stricture in the veins and arteries is beneficial,so i guess low low fat, limited inflammatory inducing foods…that’s my guess. But i’m sure there is alot more to it like supplementations that help. I’ve just begun to try and investigate.
my mom’s given all us gives the bad circulation genes…disgusting how many varicose and spider veins.
A few months a got got all excited because i though i was getting vascular and lean veins on my abs…no, just one hideous varicose vein deciding to make a present on my lower left ab area…eww…yeah…i’m going to stop talking about gross crap that pisses me off! but at least i have perfusion!–they just like to show themselves…
thanks again for the benching congrats! the lil bit of wt’ is getting there…![]()
I get to see you and PMPM, Snapper!! Santa must be listening…

love it.
i took the last two days off working out…just cuz
I may or may not deadlift today if i wake up before worktime.
i have a luxurious problem. my apartment has become too wonderfully sleep conducant in the last two days. fri, sat and Sunday I’ve had over eight hours of straight sleep which is remarkable for me on my schedule.
before i started working overnights 3 plus years ago, my body functioned best on 9 hours of snoozing I’ve always been pretty dependent on snoozing… but that rarely happens now.
Alas, this sleep vacation has been brought to me by Benadryl-- care of a reaction to tattoo ink on my new fabu tattoo i’m working on. I’ve never had a reaction before but apparently the specific brand and color i got is risky for reaction.
For some reason benadryl, which usually is not very effective for me to induce coma like lovelness, is all its taken to give me freaking lush sleep…ohhhhh…its so wonderful! I think its worth the missed workouts to restock my supplies…or i tell myself now…i’ll feel bad a bit later…or mayebe i won’t ![]()

Maybe you should lay off the benadryl Brute sweetie
just teasin.
sleep is good. enjoy it while you can. I also love a solid 9 hours myself.
…
whoa… triple post! gotta love my pirate wifi connection :{
i ended up going and doing a mini workout after benadryl coma. nothing very exciting, misc deaddlifts. maybe considered a deload.
yeah n, you are right and sorta a fortune teller in sorts—the benadyrl comas are over for now. geez…i guess it was too good to be true because it gave me a whopper of an anxiety attack that then went into a migraine–or at least i’m using that as the cause. :{ i called into work all freaked out and fried, geeez…no more playing with benadryl!!! >:{ was so nice, but i guess at an un predictable cost :{
eh. LOL
