snapper! i’m very happy you will be there! I probably will be very nervous–i think i’ll need to wait until next week to really know what my attempts will be. for bench i know its going to be pretty low. I’m more apt to just try any wt for that just to see if the energy of the meet will help me get some unexpected 140 or something :{

One week and a day away, and things are ok i suppose. I weighted in at 161 yesterday so that is exciting
in girl news the lovely monthly lady in on her way in a few days, so hopefully it will come and go and not mess with my strength skills for the meet.
The plan initially was to hit it hard this week, but on second thought I’m just going to continue the slow gentle pace for wts. Only trying my best attempts every few days and cardio to keep the edge off.

a bit high again…but i feel liek i can get it lower. I was kinda holding back.
all of them still need some work but i felt good. no weirdness…crossing fingers I’m hoping my legs will remeber what a depe squat feels like and just go all out in the next seven days :{–but :D!
You should practice your lifts with the commands in your head. If you get used to popping up and re-racking, or dancing and then immediately squatting (rather than waiting for the squat and rack commands), you’re likely to forget to wait when you are in competition.
At Raw Nats in 2008, during my session (165 women), they were requiring real ass to grass squats. I don’t know what they required last year, but I do know that yours are super high. Good job doing the videos, because then at least you know what you need to work on!

Lower the bar to the 2nd hole. That’ll give you the deep squat that you want. It is hard, at the end of my set I often let the power rack do its thing and take the BB (I never count that in my reps though, of course. I just act like it never happened

Yeah, that was freakish, and we were all complaining about it. It was better the next day. This is why you start light, so you can safely know what they are looking for!

Wow, that squat depth looked legit to me, but I guess we can only see it from the front, but still its ridiculous that she got red lighted for that!!! What are you opening with Sindie? Maybe open with something you are super comfortable getting nice and deep on to build confidence for your 2nd and 3rd attempts.

Yep, USAPL judges can be sticklers.
Sindie, I’ve seen you squat ass to grass. I KNOW you can do it. Open really light and bury the attempt. That way, the judges won’t watch so closely on your subsequent attempts because they’ll have it in their minds that you are a deep squatter. My coach always tells me to do that. Can’t wait to see you Friday. I plan to video your attempts too!
I think the middle vid is your deepest squat. You get parallel.
Do you have a hard time settling down into a REALLY deep body weight squat? Have you ever tried using raised heels?
That takes me from a passable parallel squat to breaking parallel quite easy. Maybe worth throwing some 5lb plates on the floor to see how you like it. If it’s something you like a lot you can get an Olympic shoe with a hard raised heel.
You tend to look up while coming up too. Everything I’ve read from Jim Wendler and Rippetoe say that’s a bad idea. Try to just stay focused straight ahead like you were doing the rest of squat or even looking slightly down if you want.
