anyways, as i was being sick all over for about 45 minutes, i thought about getting a belt. i looked at elite and saw a range of them but i’m not sure which kind i would be able to use for a raw meet, or one i can use for dead and squats…snapper? anyone know?

I’m not sure about the belts, but I am fairly certain your body is going to force you to ressssst!

Yes, you can use a belt to compete raw. What’s your waist measurement? I have a belt that might work for you that I don’t intend to use any longer. I could drive it down to RMLC if it will fit. So send me your waist measurement.

If it won’t, you can send me the link to the belt you’re considering and I can tell you if it’s USAPL approved. Or PMPM can if she sees this.

I think my belt might work for you! If I drive it down to RMLC, when can you pick it up to try it? If it fits, you can have it.

Max allowable width is 10 cm in USAPL.

I’ve been doing really well with my cutting, and i’ve lost about 8 pounds. Doing cardio and reduced intake cals, then small refeeds on the weekends. And I can see a significant size discrepency…i’m smaller but weaker.

I’ve done this before, and its a trap i have to get out of before itgoes haywire. so on that note…

lifting today for the first real session in about two weeks and it was …crap :frowning:

deads- warm up then 245x5, 265x3, 275, fail 295. 225x8, 245x5, 265. that’s it.
overhead squats 95x8 x 2 sets, 105x6, 105x4
push presses 95x12, 95x9, 105x6

From now on its high rep/heavy low rep weigthed stuff, no cardio. i don’t care, i want to feel strong again. Just in a bit pissy mod at myself–but that stops today.


but snapper!! Snapper gave me a belt! i can’t wait to try it! I think I’m going to give it a go mainly for squats. I want to train mostly without it, but possibly use it for big macho attempts and meets…I have to learn ow to use it for deadlifts still, but I am so happy and lucky to know a Snapper :slight_smile:

aw man - that is like the coolest thing I’ve heard in a long time: a Snapper giving a lifting belt to a Brute. This made my day ladies. Man I love you guys wipes a tear ok. end emo moment.

brute - do what makes you happy girl. and summer is only like 4 months long so looking good nakes in public is overated.

I had french apple pie (tarte tatin) for lunch and now I’m drinking a beer. I’m convinced it will make me stronger.

I couldn’t be happier that the belt will work for you, Brute. Like I said, there was virtually no learning curve for me using a belt when DLing. But squatting? I haven’t figured that out yet. Really throws me off the few times I’ve tried it.

hey!! thanks nlmain!! and Maschy!!–i think i had a bit of a pissy fest. And apparently, and unfortunately for the female gender stereotype, i realized why a few hours later with a lovely visitor from my monthly fun girl.

Man! I hate it when I’m a prime example of some horrible stenotype about chicks being PMS’y, but i totally was! now if feel much more even so hopefully i can get my shit together and quit whining! COME ON BRUTE!!

I was getting really nervous over my stupid lack of ability, but then i went back and looked at my logs and say some of the numbers i had before and i think i’m going to be ok. If not, I have years ahead of me --i hope!- to get there. I just get tunnel visioned. LAME!

snapper! :D! OS its easy for dl’s its fairly straight forward using the belt? My plan is to train without it, then use it on my last week before the meet only after i do my third attempts, to see if i can get anymore out of it. And maybe use it at the meet if for a thrid attempt.

and also for front squats!! The big ones! I wonder how it’ll feel for squats.. the guy at RMLC said i could even benefit using it with my bench, so HEY! now that i could defiantly use at the meet! because as much as i said i should be training it —i haven’t…and i probably won’t get much more out then i did the first meet…i just don’t care enough . My own fault, but i the drive for it is completely absent.

If they had hoola hoopin’ instead of benching I’d be more apt to get a better total then bench.

well, today is interesting already. in workout world, i tried some squats but it was not gonna happen. My back was saying, “Uh, don’t wanna do this…Not today lady.”. So I guess i’m sore form dead lifts :{ check, that’s of the agenda.

then my car is busted! HA! For some reason I’m not all that upset, about either circumstance! I’m going to roll with this bazarro non stressing,… AH HA HA! Only bad thing is the trip to RMLC for some repairative reverse hypers is nixed…but then i think i can try some sorta comparative thing with this really tall table i have in my place.

so i might also have a broken table to add to the day’s accomplishments. WORD! :D! adventure

You should train with the belt to get used to it. But I reserve it for heavy numbers. Nothing less than a triple for me. There’s no reason not to use it for all three attempts at a meet, if only to protect your back. I’ve never worn it for benching. It was too big for me.

I am SO sympathetic to the trying-to-strength-train while eating not-alot. But now we need a video of the hoola-hooping.

I want a vid of you trying out the new belt with your monster numbers.

The hula hooping vid would be fun as well. Even more fun if you can hula hoop with the belt on.
