Brute's Book

oh geez…lame day today…just cardio. made a trip to rmlc for… like ten minutes of nothing. i tried a few dead lift but i’m too pooped. going to have some turkey and hope for the best in a day or so.

I’m sure you’ll get “the best” in a day or two.

We all have weirdo crap of some variety in our past.

yup pats Brute on the back even super woman needs a break sometimes.

 thanks! i did some cardio today and am feeling better! belly is full of nice stuff.

Yay for feeling better! Turkey is probably my favorite meat of all time.

Consider this your deload. Out of curiosity, do you program in deloads ever? Sorry if I was not paying attention and missed you mentioning deloading before. Currently I thinnk that deadlift deloads are necessary, but I am still up in the air on squats. I tend to do worse after I back off them for a week.

Sindie, awesome training in here as usual!

Owlie and Snapper gave you some great advice re: leg drive in bench, to make it more of a ‘total body’ lift, which might help you get more into doing it.

Smart to take a little time off lifting if the energy’s low too, deloading is important (as much as I hate it)

Oh, and 300 lb squats? Awesome.

owlie!–i’m…um…no…i don’t really reload :{ bad bad …but i guess i am now! i might try to do some stuff later this week but i might just do cardio. You are right about the dead lifts though, those seem to tax me more then anything else! so maybe a nice lil break will be cool :stuck_out_tongue:

its free any club access weekend at my area 24…so that means the bad ass cable tv on every cardio mahcine free wifi space age 24 on Saturday OOOOOO

blue!–thanks!! i grr…i have no idea what i’m doing bench wise, its so obvious, but i shall try. Your bench is so purdy !

well, its going to be another few days before i lift again I’ve decided. and i think i know the culprit, some weighted abs exercises that i haven’t done in forever i messed with the other day and it kinda made my lower back gross.

I get stiff though when i don’t do some things and throbby, so i did some bar only dead lifts and squats to get things going.

i tried a sumo dead lift and my GOD in heave, i have weirdo uneven hips! i’ve noticed it before, expecielly on overhead squats, that my left hip seems to be lower then my right. as in its slightly angled.

cardio

Agreed, a little time off can’t be too bad, especially if your body is asking for it.

What is “wifi space 24”?! Sounds spacey.

Sucks about your back! I hate lower back DOMS, actually had some myself after my DL session. I always feel like theres no way to stretch it out - just wait it out.

Ha! uneven hips - really? Wonder what that’s all about. If its a problem, maybe its correctable?

I’ve hear of uneven hips, you could go see a chiro and have him check it out. They can’t totally rebalance things but they do help.

mascherano–i type bad! its a 24 hour fitness that is like a space terminator futuristic gym. its huge and has free wifi, couches,an indoor track, just a bunch of unnecessary but still kinda cool doodads–total Yuppy spot

hey nlaim! i would see a chiro but i got no dough! a chiro sounds heavenly–i love having my back manipulated, i don’t care who it is, give me massage/adjustment/anything/strech- and i shall love you forever…sigh:{

well, i think the rest is doing me good. I’ve been doing cardio but no lifting since Wednesday or so, so i decided to take this as a lead up to a lil mini meet for me to try on Friday or Saturday.

I’ll weigh in, and do my attempts and all that crap so i can have a reasonable idea of some #'s for july. my fraternal twin is moving back home tomorrow night (!yei!) so i’m having her be my depth judge and bench judge and command yeller.

my back is still a tiny bit stringy weird feeling but i think its going to be fine–and i’m interested in seeing what i can come up with :stuck_out_tongue:

Can’t wait to hear how it goes!

Yay for your twin helping you out.

What! You mean there are two Brutes in this world?! just teasin  does she lift too?

Brute - your lifts are just ridiculous! I am so freaking happy for you and so jealous that I can’t see straight! =-D =-/

As for the uneven hips… is one leg longer than the other? Is one hip flexor super tight and pulling on one side of your body? Those are both things to think about… They can often be worked out by an ART professional/chiro/massage therapist… but if you got no dough then that’s hard to do… know anyone with an inversion table where you can hang upside down by your feet? Seriously… might help!

Anyway… good luck at your meet! Keep kicking ass! You rock!

How was the mini-meet?

Yay! My mom’s a twin, so i automatically think twins are teh coolest!

thanks Blue, nlmain, and maschy!! i love my Twinnie! she doesn’t lift but want to --bad.she’s been a cross country big rig driver for years and has quit finally. …she’ll be training with me i hope! i foresee here killing my bench within 2 weeks

molly!! you could be onto something about the hip flex ors… and that’s what i want to do, funny you say that about the inversion tables. i feel like if i could hang a bit and get pulled from my feet-- help decompress a bit, i dunno…hmm:) thanks for stopping by, you are a super star!! :D!

mini meet is set for Friday…or tomorrow:)

Good luck with your meet!
I have one leg longer than the other, and my physio would go grab the shorter leg and give it a good tug. I’m finding ART a lot more useful than physio, though.
Thing with chiro adjustments is they’re all great, but if it’s tightness in the soft tissues that is pulling something out of whack, your aligment will just get messed up again. Best to get an assessment and then work on the root cause.

Brute - you are so sweet! Good luck with your meet! And I agree with Cal! My coach would do that to me as well… lay me on my back, tug on my legs lightly, see if there was a length difference and then tug HARD on the shorter one… sounds funny… but the only reason it was significantly shorter was because I was all tight and “crunched up” around that hip area (“crunched up” being the exact scientific term ;D)

But yeah, figure out the root cause… typically a goof balance of chiro work, self stretching and mobilization and soft tissue work will solve lotsa problems!
