snapper! i am nervous, two months before still…i hope my bench creeps up but if not…ehh…i’m still quite ok with it being crap if i’m honest with myself–bad powerlifter, bad.

…which is counterproductive because i don’t have a huge drive to get it any better. but then again anything is better then the 110 i got last time :}

You should have a huge drive for it to get better! You are an amazing squatter and deadlifter. You should be an amazing bencher, too. Get your ass in RMLC and get some coaching, damn it.

thanks for the vote of confidence snapper, but i don’t really think i’d be all that fantastic of a bencher! my heart is in other things!!..i love push presses but that is really the only upper body exercise i enjoy…and all the others i hate hate hate!!

and about the coaching, it is very difficult to get to rmlc when anyone is there to couch, for me anyways. i know my arch,if it is an arch is pretty awful, so i could use some advice on that for sure.

it always sounds so lame but my schedule is very hard to get stuff done sometimes :frowning:

add to that that i’m a rather emotional lifter i have to be in the right mood, and i’m pretty all or nothing sometimes about things i do. cardio i will do whenever, half awake, no big deal, but i like to be balls out for most of my workout days…so basically i’m a big baby :stuck_out_tongue:

BUT i did decide today to start doing that fabulous russian training, thanks to Owlie’s log. so i was a good girl and benched today, and i’m going to bench three times a week from this point on.

hell yea, I am quite the emotional lifter too, and for all the drawbacks it can be a really positive thing. If we channel our emotion and passion and really pull off training with heart, we will do amazing things. I know a lot of my best lifts have been the result of some really dark stuff going on in my head, overcoming demons of the past and shit. The even better ones have been a result of channeling energy from my triumphs and achievements. A combination of the heady high of empowerment and the love and dedication I try to put back out there in to the world, ya know. Good day, or bad, I try to channel it.

It seems you are really enthusiastic about using your ass in lifting. My amateur and immature advice is to use your ass more in bench! No really, it works. My glutes are always fantastically sore after a good bench workout. Once you get the arch down your ass becomes more involved. If you can start to think of benching as involving more of your body and being a bigger compound movement like the ones you like, you might enjoy it more :slight_smile:

Hi Sindie…just catching up on your crazy training. Clearly, you’re gonna do fantastic in your meet, even if you half-assed your bench, theoretically speaking, that is.
I don’t know how you do it, working nights and all…

oh my owlie! you are on it…and here shows my lack of bench knowledge…i have no idea how i can get my ass involved… i gotta learn how to set it up i guess? BLAHH! I need to check out some learning to arch vids.

I don’t really like benching either, that’s why my numbers are all over the place when I do actually decide to bench. My bench probably could go up a lot if I focused on it as much as I focus on other things, but oh well.

P.s. sets of 115 isn’t to shabby.

It’s really more about getting the legs involved rather than the ass. A sore ass is a by-product of good leg drive. Dan at RMLC is reputedly a very, very good bencher.

front squats 155x7x 6 sets, 135x10 just wasn’t feeling em today…well i was feeling them ALOT, just not turbo enrgywise
overhead squats 95x8, 105x8, 115x7x4 sets, 120x8, 125 x7, failure at liftoff for 130
reverse alternating lunges 115x15, 125x10, 135x7 total–not each leg

Do you eat something between weights and cardio? I always do because I guess I am afraid something bad will happen if I don’t and muck up my recovery, but I have been accused many times of having the fattest brain on the planet and using any occasion as an excuse to eat.

Overhead squats?! Sounds hard and you were moving serious weight!

I took Bobbi’s advice and started having a snack if I spend more than 1.5 at the gym. Usually b/c lifting and cardio. I’m the same, scared to get hurt/pass out. HA!

I drink a protein shake while lifting. Probably unconventional. But I do it anyway.

hey owlie and maschy!! i usually have something an hour or so before heading in to workout, but not in between stuff.

i could do a protein shake while lifting, but i really enjoy my food, and my working out, i like em separate :stuck_out_tongue:

i think right now my thing is just the on and off drain form trying to cut back a bit, and i think of it in my head as a bigger deal then it is. i too have been indoctrinated to have a fat brain! and tend to think food will cure my ailments… can’t sleep? eat something. tired? eat something. stressed? eat something more :stuck_out_tongue: bleh…

hurray!! i weighted in at 164 today too :slight_smile: hope i can get a little more off my sausage gut so i have some elbow room for the competition’s weight class limit.

My gosh, Brute. You’ve got two months to go and you’re worried about making a weight class that you already make? You crack me up. Seriously, I’m going to blow off my relatives so I can watch you get that 300+ raw squat at the meet.

congrats on the weight. Nice overhead squats. I have only attempted those once… with 65lbs…and I fell over…No really, I did. My balance sucks. Maybe I will try them again…when NOONE is in the gym.
You put up some quality weight-awesome.

I would also like to see you at your next meet! Can I come?

thanks snapper! i worry because i have some wierdo weight crap from my past, and a tendency to binge…as lame as it sounds having the weight goal for the meet has suprisingly kept me from my usual bad bad habits. so i like it! and i hope i can keep it up :stuck_out_tongue: and i hope i can get a 300 at the meet!
