thanks!
Chalk is made available at the meet, Brute.
What exactly do you mean by “i’m not sure if my upper arms touch my outer thighs or not.”?
hey snapper!
well i found a few “rules” (an online thing of disqualifiers and the general rules for power lifitng–but i have no idea if its a official site now that i think of it) and it had some stuff listed that is a disqualifiers for squatting, and one was “any contact with elbows or upper arms with thighs during the lift” and i’ve never even considered that. I’ve never noticed myself doing that but then i’ve never really thought about it.
i could have just been on a wierd site, i dunnno. I’m trying to find it now and am at a loss… they also said no movement of feet at all, and some other stuff.
WOW! This is so exciting. I’m with skye, documentation please!
You’re going to kill it.
here’s that link http://www.marylandaau.com/powerlif1.htm
This is a USAPL meet right? You can download the rulebook from here: http://www.powerlifting-ipf.com/Technical-Rules.50.0.html The contact is not allowed if it’s done in order to help the lift; if it’s just a slight contact and it doesn’t help, it’s ok. Sounds a little confusing but really you probably don’t have to worry about it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a squat red lighted because of that (plus I can’t even imagine how someone could be in that position).
One suggestion I have is to practice the lifts with commands. I usually work up to my openers a week before and when I do that I practice the commands.
I am very much a lurker so this’ll probably be my last post so I’ll say good luck now and have fun! You are very strong and I have no doubt you’ll do well. ![]()
thanks sensgirl!
I. too, have never seen anyone get red-lighted for that infraction. Sensgirl is right, though, that you should be consulting the USAPL rule book. Different federations may have slightly different rules.

I was faked out by all the premature nerves. ![]()
There needs to be a picture of all of youse together. How fun!
oh my god i am so nervous about this its retarded! I did my attempts today and it went ok, without gloves is weird but i think as long as i can manage the deadlifts fine then i’m cool.
SO NERVOUS! AHHHH!!!
I plan on taking a picture or seven with those two hotties at the meet for sure Kimba!!! I think i’ll be able to spot em out, and I’m pretty hard to miss , especially with the socks i plan on wearing. ![]()
so nerdy…i am so nervous
and excited ![]()
Yeah, you’ll be able to spot me. I’ll be the one whose knees are audibly knocking.
Once you get going, it’s fun. Sort of.
Just get your first squat in, after that, it’s a breeze.
I’ll be with the Virtus Gym crew.
T-minus 2 days and I can’t wait for it to be done with! i’m excited of course but i’m probably going to be too nervous to enjoy it fully …IIIIRRRRR!!!
So instead Ive decided to be excited to go all turbo next week, i’ve been taking it easy and just cardio crap the last two weeks and its been kinda cool but enough is enough:
i did manage to get 315 twice on Monday which make me happy–but its was a leg grinder.
I had my sister do some commands and stuff today and besides the deadlifts i got my attempts down! so i’m excited…and nervous…and ready for it to be done!
Deep breath…in through your nose, out through your mouth…good…feel better?
Have fun tomorrow!!
Good luck!
