WORD. yesterday was pretty cool. did some tinkering with my squats , and took some video to see how low i go , and i’m kinda happy for my new results

relearning week 4 i think
45, 135, 155x3, 185x2,205, 225, 235, 240, 245, 250, --these were all nice! the questionable one was 255, 260, 265, but i for sure was too high on 270.

i think i might be able to start thinking of what openers and stuff to do…i’m safe at 210 to start with, and i think as a lofty maybe i can go for 265 as of today.

did some tinkering benching too, i’m not even going to try and get crazy with that. just not my thing

okay, you’ve got to teach me how to push press.
I get no mileage out of the “push.” My max push press is barely more than my max military press. Do you have cues for yourself?

(if that’s not clear, what I mean by “cues” is stuff to remember, like “back straight” for deadlifts or “leg drive” for bench.)

Push presses, as I do them, are very explosive. They are often used to train the jerk. When I do them, I stand left foot in front of right and drive with my legs when I push the bar up. My goal used to be to hear the plates “rattle” at the top (so much force that I could throw the bar up and had to hold it at the top or it would fly away), but I’m at a rubber-plated gym now. I miss the clanking sound . . .

Brute, your squats are sounding very, very strong.

Yeah, I was planning to officiate until I realized I am not qualified for Raw Nats. Since I haven’t even attempted raw maxes in forever, this should be a treat!

alisa, for push presses, how i learned was by doing sorta a combo thing i looked up. I don’t know if this will help, but i tried first doing a front squat-push press combo. I just used alot of momentum from the front squats to push it up .then after a while, i just did them without the front squats.

snapper- i really like doing reps, i can do reps of things but stall out on getting higher numbers…i just probably blow my steam out early on because i like doing them and i end up too tired? …but i don’t know if that is really true for me. just a rep person.
