Im still trying to learn how to tuck my elbows when I bench so I dont have to spend another 2 years of no overhead work and only db’s for chest, but gun to my head I could probably get 300-315 right now.

Trying to figure out why I am declining the same number as my flat bench, Cam thinks its because our decline is truly that fucked up. I doubt even your giant ass would fit into it proper, my feet hang off the end like im a freaking toddler or something, and its impossible to get the weight off the pins by yourself for your working weight.

IMO, decline bencch is a waste of time, so many other great chest exercises. If you really feel the need to do decline, swap it out with weighted dips.
HOLY FUCK YOU’RE ALIVE!

Alarm went off at 6:15 AM FUCK

Mondays and Tuesdays are usually my weekends, I work wed-sat, and then usually end up picking up shifts on my days off anyway, but this time I kept my days open, I had friends coming in town to visit Kings Island with me for a couple days. They came in late last night, we watched a movie, they had some beers, I went with a diet cola because I knew I would be training in the morning.

We stayed up talking like friends who have known each other for 22 years usually do, by the time I got to sleep it was around 3 in the morning. Setting that alarm for 6:15 was painful to do, I asked if my buddy wanted to come train with me in the morning, but he said no, he’s done playing sports, ran some track in college, but no, thats no part of his life anymore.

Alarm goes off, yup, its 6:15 in the morning, if I’m gonna get this shit done today then it starts now.

I roll over and slap the alarm off the table, then blindly reach for a water bottle, and 2 tabs of caffeine, soon I am functional enough to wander into the kitchen.

2 scoops of whey, and a shot of wheat grass and I am awake enough to log on to T-Nation. I click on my “Hub” to read a few words that I’ll often read over before a training session.

"No offense, but you're not one to speak, or one to speak from experience. I don't think any serious lifter would be envious of your physique. Again, I mean no offense by this statement. I do not wish to get into an e-battle"

"another mistake could be working out for 3 years, and not looking like you lift weights unless you're wearing a medium size t.shirt"

Insults from the internet. Nameless people who I will never meet, but they still hit a nerve.

You don’t like the progress I’ve made in my time here, well you know what, Fuck you.

iPod was stolen yesterday, and the music they play at the gym is just awful, I have on multiple occasions heard Britney Spears “Everytime” minutes within going for a PR, not gonna happen today.

So I go downstairs and just cut the music off in the free weight room. I’m the only one here this morning, and Ill lift in silence before I listen to that bullshit.

I’m starting to hit that sweet spot. Weights I thought I would hit for 2-4 are going up for 6-8. Top sets leave me thinking, “Ya know, I think I can slap at least a dime on each side”.

I will never look like a competitive bodybuilder, I was asked recently by a few co workers if that was my end goal, if thats why Im constantly there at 6 in the morning, when they bitch and moan about having to show up at that time to get paid, and I show up for free, and to put myself through the pain of a workout none the less.

If I was to step on stage at 4% bf it would look awful. I’ve got no calves to speak of, I’ve got weak insertion points in my arms, I’m barrel chested and I’ve got freakishly long legs for a guy that is barely 5"10.

But that doesnt mean shit to me, its probably better that I know this. Want I want is simple, to be strong as hell, the kind of strong that makes other guys in the gym look down and suddenly feel like somebody stole their balls and everybody can tell. And to do it while being lean enough that when I walk around in public I get dirty looks from fat people.

That last part happened today a few times. BTW, wow this country is fat. Really hits ya when you see big crowds.

I will never look like a competitive bodybuilder, but Im starting to see traces of Bodybuilder in my reflection from time to time, glimpses of things that could turn out good, some with a chance at really good.

Today should not have been a good workout. I was high on stress, low on sleep, I had only had about 400 calories, no carbs but my pre workout Surge, and was lifting without music for the first time in half a year.

But none of that made a difference, the alarm went off at 6:15, and it was time to go to work, so I did.

That’s cool how you did really well despite minimal sleep and not eating enough. I always wonder why that happens. I’ve hit PRs on two hours of sleep, but today I felt great and did horrible. Ever wonder why that happens?

Asshole just isn’t a strong enough word right now Way =p GL with that work shit.

hahaha

The worst part about it is the lack of food, they feed us lunch and dinner but the portions are always extremely small. Like today’s lunch was half a chicken wrap…awesome. I bring some protein shakes, but it’s still not enough. I am probably only getting in half the calories I’m used to. Thank God for the sauce or I’d probably be shriveling up right now, but at the same time I feel like I’m wasting it :frowning: oh wells.

where ya working now bro? also no protein bars haha. I take ones that are pretty nutritionally good with 400 cals i mean 2 of those is at least something haha
Fixing up 600 apartments so when the new kiddies move in on the 16th they look brand new. From the 5th-16th is 12 hour days, all in a a row lol. It’s just dandy!

I got you on squat broseph. Bench not too far off.

Let’s not get cocky boys, otherwise I’ll have to join the mix.

I’m sorry but once you break 250 lbs (which you have) you have to compete with waylander and CC…so good luck there austin. lol

damn homie you weighing in at 250 and you trying to come at me weighing 220?? and i still got like 150 pounds on your deadlift!!! your bench aint catching up either

be eaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasy! ! ! ! !

=)
My brother, you ain’t deading no 600 especially w/o the straps. I hit an easy 415 triple this week, and can definetly single 450. It’s just a matter of weeks before muscle memory finishes what it started.

The bench, 370 pounds, umm, that’s all I need to say.

Hitting a man below the belt, talking about his pathtic deadlift, you shoulde be ashamed.

Lol, it’s all good.

Live, beat me at what?

JB, good post man. I’m goin to bed, but more on that in the morning.

Way… just fuck you.

Awesome session today. 250 x 6 is a huge PR for me on bench. I can also now wear my knee sleeves as loose elbow sleeves, which is pretty cool.

Nice PR dude, just wondering if you felt all the warm-up sets before the 250 were nescessary. Maybe if you did 2 or 3 you could get 8 oon 250. I know personally when I warm-up it looks like this 135x15, 185x8, 225x6, 340x3. Anymore than that and my top set would be effected negatively. Well maybe that’s why I had a nagging strain in my chest/shoulder, who knows lol.
This was my 5/3/1 day for bench, so my work sets started at 205 x 5. I usually try to get at least three warm up sets in before I start my “work sets”.

Flat DB Bench

We started off to a slow start. The gym was pretty dirty. Plenty of soy boys using up all the benches attempting to bench 50-80lbers. Wiping their faces with their shirts to flash us their pretty abs and trying to impress the girlys around us. My associate began to look physically perturbed. We eventually smacked a soy boy out of the flat bench and proceeded with our training.

I know someone will probably mock my post and minimize it in some manner but I feel I should express how I felt on that final set. I was pissed, I was shaking due to consuming close to 3g, my mind was going off full speed making my inner fire burn hotter and hotter, my associate was yelling, “Come on fucker, COME ON! GIT IT! COME ON!” “MOMENT OF TRUTH MOTHERFUCKER” and I now had “Blood is Pumping” blasting. I walked up to the final set of dumbbells and looked at them. No longer looking at them with awe but with incandescent fury. They were going to be mine. I unracked one and noticed that they were actually very heavy. Then the other…and walked to my bench. I sat down and looked straight at the mirror…remembering the fat kid that could barely move the 40lbers…remembering all the judging stares…all the ridicule…all the rejection…all the pain…my heart was ready to explode. I closed my eyes and fell back…the images of King Coleman throwing up those mighty 200lbers for 12 running through my head. “Lightweight” I actually said outloud and went back and pushed those fuckers in the air. 1…fine…2…still good…3 now they are feeling like 150lbers…4 almost didn’t happen if it wouldn’t have been for my associate. I threw them off myself like King himself and looked at the shocked soyboy and told him, “Watch yo self” lol My associate then grabbed said weight and easily threw them up for 10 making me look like a girl…yet again.
