Here’s the thing. There is a fitness center on campus that is free. From what I’ve seen of it, its not great, but it will do. I want something that is closer, but I’ll only pay for a gym membership if I find one that is better than the one I can train at for free.

These places are nothing special (no chalk, no boxes, no specialty bars, no experienced lifters, no sled, no GHR) and cost just as much if not significantly more than both of my old gyms (and yes, even my commercial gym had those things listed). Call me spoiled if you want, but there is no way in hell I’m going to pay to train at a place that doesn’t have decent equipment and experienced lifters.

Gotta sneak into the Woody and train with the football players, that place is stacked. =p[/quote]

I wish I was still living in Columbus. There are plenty of well equipped gyms in that area, but up here its a few crappy chains and not much else.

idk how many machines you use or like to use but ever since I started lifting in my garage I’ve never looked back. The only machines I would LIKE to have but are not essential would be a smith machine, leg press, lat pulldown, and a chest supported row. I can do everything else and spent maybe 500$ for everything. Ive trained at college gyms and commericaial gyms yet I still prefer to train at my home.

Molly Edwards Reverse Band Benching

Not related to the thread, but that’s pretty fucking awesome.

I wonder what’s with that band set up though.

What part of the band setup? Looked pretty normal to me, other than the little twist that is causing the x in the bands.

Today was fucking awesome. I spent almost 4 hours with lifting related activities…lazy Sunday my ass.

30 minutes rolling lower body: hips, hams, quads. Got the tennis ball out and did some work on my sore right hip.

5 minutes stepper, long slow steps, really stretching it out.

broomstick stretch x 100

forward lunges x a billion
reverse lunges x a billion
lateral lunges x a billion per side

hamstring/inner thigh stretching

Old due quarter squatting in the sole rack finishes up, so I get to lift.

Squat-
bar x 10
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 5
275 x 5
305 x 3
340 x 5 PR!

Step up (12" box)-
135 x 8 each leg
185 x 8 each leg

Back XT-
50 x 10 x3

Pulldown Abs-
80 x 10 x3

Hills-
100y x 5

That’s what I mean, the twist.

Also Buckeye(should I keep calling you that or your real name?) did Lexen ever rigged the bands on the ends or the middle of the barbell while doing Reverse Bands?

Buckeye, BG, something like that. I like to remain at least somewhat anonymous.

On bench, bands were usually put just inside the collar, or whatever you call the thickest part of the bar.

Every once in a while, they would do a single band in the middle, but this was usually done for me, or the kids that trained there. I’ve never seen the guys use anything other than the standard setup

Brothers forgive me for I have sinned, I ran farther then 50 meters at a time today. Did my first track day for this race/obstacle course in Chicago, its 2 months away so im really not worried, my leg of the race will be mostly around Soldier Field (The Bears Stadium) so thats gonna be bad ass, I even get to run the steps, I will so be listening to the theme from Rocky when I do that.

Todays workout

youre never going to find a merc gym with something called a “deathmaster”

just get into a decent gym and after you’ve been there youll start being able to figure out how to do other stuff with a little ingenuity.

for example my gym has a squat rack w/ catch bars but a power cage w/ pins…

so i do rack pulls by grabbing a shit load of cardio boxes and stacking them up.

just find a chain Golds or World (if those still exist?)

round plates are nice but you can still deadlift without them, i do. you spoiled powerlifter kids just don’t know how to be creative enough with standard gym equipment do ya?

i take it back, youre not spoiled…just naive.

powerlifitng gyms are few and far between.

even rarer than a powerlifting gym is a hardcore bodybuilding gym.

but if guys can become bodybuilders in commercial gyms i think you can find enough stuff. you might not have a monolift, or a GHR but im sure you can find enough.

a standard gym membership is 25 dollars a month. thats hardly expensive.

$25? Shit. Where?

I’m paying $60 for the only place in town currently, and the cheaper places elsewhere tend to be more in the $40 range. Unless you’re talking about like that place with the lunk alarm…but no way in hell you’d catch me there.

I’m not naive. I’m bitchy. I know what I want and I’m not going to be happy unless I get it. Ask SH about Metro Fitness…

Memberships in my area are running 35-60 plus a $150 enrollment fee. Except for the shitty gym. That was 14-35 plus 150.

i pay $25 a month for the Bally’s i go to w/ a 3 year contract

the gym i used to go to which IMO was better was $25 a month w/ no contract

i think LA fitness is either $25 or $50

Boston Sports Club is $50

the YMCA is $75

Planet Fitness is $10

i think most the other gyms like Gold’s are $25-30 too

oh yeah and Total Performance Sports is $40

Most in Cincy are 40-60

I figured I’d share a recipe of mine because I made the absolute most delicious steak tonight I’ve ever had.

Started with some teryaki, added a genorous amount of that. I eye balled all the ingrediants but they are as follows. Garlic Powder, sea salt, pepper, oregano, table sugar, hot pepper flakes, and habenaro tobasco sauce. Everything was added to the terryaki in genour amounts besides the salt and pepper where I just ground some. I marinated the steak for only too hours but have a marinating tupperware that I can shake to kind of tendorize the meat as well as assist the marindade to soak into the meat. Cooked it medium rare just tithe point were the middle was no longer purple. Added some pesto pasta and garlic string beans and I was set for some serious protein.

Btw for some reason I got a bunch of friend requests on the FB today kind of weird lol…The for the adds boys it’ll be easier to keep intouch and discuss some things over the FB than on here especially supplement wise.
