It’s has been my experience that the people that hate crossfit are the ones that cannot do it, I credit crossfit for helping me break through slumps and healing injuries. Like I said I have been mixing crossfit with powerlifting and seeing great results, I love heavy lifting to death and am good at it but crossfit is and always will be harder than any weightlifting.
Shit I know crossfit instructors weighing 185, 5 percent bf, and can deadlift more than me. All I’m saying is anyone that can walk up to a pole and hold themselves perpendicular to it is a badass
except that for most of us the goal isnt to weigh 185, its to weigh 265 and crossfit isnt exactly good for that.
if you want to train to hold yourself up by a pole, thats fine, but doing that has absolutely nothing to do with bodybuilding.
What? If you can DL 520 at 185, and someone at 265 cant, then the guy at 265 isnt doing anything right.
I credit a lot of me being able to break through slumpos and healing injuries to crossfit, I mean shit, I didnt start doing handstand push-ups until crossfit, and that helped get my MP up.
i dont think theres any bodybuilder at 265 who can’t deadlift at least 650
if you want to get big, don’t do crossfit
if you want to get good at handstand pushups, go for it.
if crossfit was the end be all for strength it would be used for powerlifters/strongmen
except it’s not.
im glad to hear you’re getting results from it but i don’t think you would do well from exclusively training crossfit in either the strength or size category that is.
There is no point in talking about this anymore, you are talkingabout something you dont know much about.
i know enough about it.
And from there on out, everything was one big gay joke.
Word, oh I Deadlifted 550 at 181, so like, I had to do Crossfit to be able to do that?
My god, carlos, you joining the idiot train too?
Many people said that crossfit guys can’t lift heavy weight, etc. And I stated I know guys that dont weigh anything, that lift more than a lot of the guys on this site that follow power lifter programs.

And I know guys who haven’t gotten in a weight room in four years who are stronger than me.
Because people naturally have different levels of strength. So you can’t make uniform suggestions on training.
Which is crazy, mind-blowing news to me.

I don’t think anyone in here said the guys can’t lift heavy weight…it was said that crossfit is definitely not the best way to look like a huge bodybuilder. And that statement IS correct…or else all the pros would train crossfit.

I wish I had done something similar to the Yates 3way way back when I started. I wasted a lot of time with full body workouts and avoiding direct arm work, etc…the most important things will be making sure he knows he needs to EAT, and focus on progression always - regardless of what the program is.

thats one guy.
majority of people on crossfit don’t turn out like that
you look at West Side and you see it’s produced the top powerlifting athletes and all around strong guys, bar none. it doesn’t have one super freak, it has hundreds upon hundreds of strong guys.
it’s the same shit with bodybuilding, every so often some bonehead throws out some guy who trains TBT or some guy who’s a ‘vegan’. ok, thats great except that 99/100 people are going to see better results doing it the way it’s worked for everyone else in the past and the top bodybuilders all follow the same protocol.

doesnt matter
just get him in the gym for now, shoot for the 10-12 reps multiple sets.
something with a lot of recovery time, 1 large body part per day, 2 small parts per day
like
arms
chest+shoulders
rest
back
legs
rest
have him do that for like 4 months and start slowly increasing the frequency
start pairing things up
but right now best thing is just do anything

How many of these people exist (are they exceptions to the rule)?
And did they get strong strictly as a result of crossfit or through a more traditional strength-training approach?

Bug, that is a lot of ground beef.
Down a pound or two, so morning cardio is continuing on. Going the next 2 cycles without a deload, so it’s 6 weeks straight then I’ll deload and go for a sort of super compesation.
for the guys doing 5/3/1, what do you guys think about military press? It’s being kinda gay, so I’m thinking of dropping the weight and upping the reps like I’ve seen a lot of big boys do and see if that drives my bench up a little more. Any opinions?
do it. It might be necesary on the smaller lifts to do this once in a while, or alternatively you could just run your next cycle with the same training max. I hit 10 reps on it yesterday on my “5” day. That’s where I’m comfortable having my lifts.
I think crossfit looks fun. Then again I come from an athletic background and am partial to doing box jumps, sprints, and o-lifts. To each his own, if something works for ones goal, then don’t change it.
i’m ditching BB squats. Fuckers bother my shoulder. I have to go wide stance because of my body type and wide hand placement which ends up making my bad shoulder feel really weak for a day or two. I never liked these anyway I just felt some internal pressure to do squats and deads because they are probably the two biggest exercises.
Fuck it. I’m sticking with leg presses and v-squats. Feel so much better and I can progress without any safety issues.
As for the cross-fit “debate,” it’s absolutely clear that it isn’t ideal for those looking to be big bodybuilders. However it does seem to be excellent at improving peoples’ conditioning and athleticism.
Two different goals entirely. BB splits are great for 1 and crossfit is great for the other. Should be the end of the discussion really.

I just want to say that after a month I am back to my pre-vacation weight(I lost about 15 pounds while on vacation in jamaica). With about 3 less inches around my waist this time too.
I’m starting to feel like I don’t have chicken legs as much anymore… Still need lots of work on these skinny fuckers though!
(trying to get shit back on topic, we dont need SH going ape shit on us again)
I think we are all saying the same, but in a different way because my whole point was that hating crossfit is retarded if you havent tried it and you CAN attain great strength through crossfit, I am an example of this, and there are many more.
You obviously cannoy gain size through crossfit, etc.
Jesus, I am just gonna start posting with pictures so you guys can follow easier.
