I had a girlfriend in high school give me a cassette tape, yeah, that’s right a CASSETTE TAPE with a Bryan Adams song on it after I broke up with her. Ever since then I couldn’t stand that bastage. lol

Thanks JB!

Can you send me a copy too?

xb, 25# is a big jump when you’re going for a max lift. maybe shoot for 360, then 375.

Dre, I’m thinking about biting the bullet on the vibram five fingers - I need a good shoe for lifting in. I’ve been wearing a worn out pair of old skateboarding shoes for a LONG time and I’m looking for something to help with the lower back pain I get if I do cardio for more than 5 minutes. Which ones do you have, I’m looking at the KSO in black. Any more info you want to share with me about them would be cool, feel free to PM me or whatever.

btw, I hate that the socks for them are 12bucks a pop…lol

I have the KSOs in black. If you do get those be prepared for people to call you gorilla foot, Mr. Deeds and anything else they can think of! haha

First question you need to ask yourself is do you like being barefoot? If not, you might not like these. It really is like being barefoot. Which is why I love them so much. The fact that my knee pain disappeared when I starting wearing these is a bonus too.

Just a word of warning, if you aren’t use to being barefoot a lot, your feet will hurt when you start to wear these for any length of time. You need to give the muscles in your feet time to strengthen.

Also, if you want to give you calves one helluva workout, run in these. I ran once in them for maybe 10 minutes. My calves hurt for two days straight.

Are you looking at getting Injinji socks? I want some but haven’t bought any yet.[/quote]

Yeah dre I LOVE being barefoot - anytime I’m not out in public I am barefoot, I pretty much absolutely hate wearing shoes. I had been thinking about getting some Nike Free 5.0s…but they seem to be hard to find for me locally whenever I look for them and most the styles I do find actually look like they are made for females or are some crazy weirdass colors…lol

My only concern is I’d like a shoe that’s barefoot style that I could wear out when I’m out casually chillin in a t-shirt and shorts…which is most of the time. Not sure I’m down with wearing the Vibram FF’s out a lot other than to the gym.

Edit: I’ve been looking at these too, they are barefoot design but look very casual/normal lol. http://www.terraplana.com/aqua-p-871.html?colour=57

For the record, Bryan Adams isn’t nearly as gay as his boyfriend, but he tries real hard.

You need a smith machine or rack (smith works best imo).

Lay down with your ass off the bench (so that you can arch your lower back somewhat and keep your shoulderblades pinned onto the bench at all times. This turns the exercise into a light-decline press.

Use a just inside shoulder width grip (or whatever you like, just don’t make it a wide grip) and flare your elbows out while pressing (as opposed to keeping them tucked, which is what people do on a regular cgp). Bring the bar to the upper chest/ neck area (depends on your build and all, just bring it higher than you would on a cgp).

Make sure to not only press up, but also towards your feet against the smith’s rails or rack. This pressing towards your feet doesn’t work on the freeweight version (at least not without you dropping the bar on your stomach). It is also done on the smith RGB (where you would take a grip as wide as necessary).

I like the idea of the 5-fingers, but went with the Free 5.0’s for the versatility of being able to wear them out and be semi-normal looking. the 5’s are a little “unique” and I don’t like to own too many shoes at once. I had to order my free’s online as none of the local stores were carrying them when my old pair became chew-toys for the dogs.

Chest :

Flat DB Bench 4/6…worked up to 26 and decided to set a rep PR of 12…lools like the CNS has kicked back in

Inc DB Bench 3/8…22kg for each set…missed the last rep on the last rep

Flat flies 3/15…12kg

Slowly gettin it back together.

Also had the first MMA class today…50 showed up…I was very happy.

You will love the Vibrams. Like I tell everyone and have said it on here before, they are the best things that have ever been put on my feet.

Living in Cali. don’t you wear flip flops everyday? Why do you even need shoes living in a warm climate!

I’ve been looking at the Vivo barefoots for a while now, I’m needing new work shoes. But that dang $150 price tag is a bit much.

Here’s my thought on the “semi-normal looking” thought. If someone doesn’t like the way I look or what I’m wearing, f*ck’em. I wear what I wear for two reasons, 1) I like the way it looks or 2) It’s comfortable.

Couldn’t make it to the gym today since it’s thanksgiving in Canada, so I though I’d just try some push presses at home.
Worked my way up to 185lbs and missed the lockout by literally an inch. :frowning:

I showed my girl the Vibram five-fingers in black and she was like “Wow those are fucking weird looking. Wear those to the gym, but not when you’re out with me.” lol - sigh.

I’d like to find an all black or mostly black pair of nike free’s…anyone got a link to where I can find some?

Maybe there is something to be said for mixing bodyparts, beause this chest/bicep work gave me one of the best upper body pumps ive ever had.

Going to attach a picture taken about half an hour after the session, if anybody has seen some of my older pics, my arms have really lagged behind, but thanks to a lot of food and hard work, they are starting to catch up.

Dead Lifts tomorrow, easily my worst lift.

But we already knew that didn’t we Bug…

Haha just lookin out for you big guy. Not all of us are squatting 500 you assface.

Anyways, legs today. Been a fucked up day and I had a fucked up, FUCKED UP weekend. I lost 2 lbs and weighed in at 219 today. Balls. Also, I’ve been feeling nauseous all day (still do) but somehow got through this and set some new PR’s.

Monday - Legs

Squat (ATG… as always)

135lbs x 10
185lbs x 8
225lbs x 8
275lbs x 6
315lbs x 4
365lbs x 1
405lbs x 1 (broke the 400 pound mark fuckers)
315lbs x 10 (PR, weak, I KNOW)

I should note that I was completely annihilated after all this. I didn’t even struggle that much during the max attempt… and the 315 went up clean (I was extremely focused) but afterwords, died. Adrenaline?

Hack squat machine (close stance)

1plate/side x 10
2plate/side x 10
3plate/side x 12

Romanian deadlift (was feeling shitty and these make me nauseous anyways at this point in the workout so I went a lil heavier for the work sets so I didn’t have to do so many god damn reps!)

225lbs x 10
315lbs x 10
335lbs x 10
365lbs x 8

Lying leg curl

90lbs x 8
110lbs x 8
130lbs x 8
150lbs x 6
175lbs x 4
155lbs x 8 + 3 + 3 / 40lbs x 12 (chest in air)

Leg extensions (omg)

130lbs x 10

WTF that was like moderately difficult… so I said fuck it, through the same weight for my 20-repper from last week… AND DID 40.

220lbs x 40!! holy shit that was amazing. I Literally fell off the leg extension and could not get up. 2 minutes later I tried again and got up… limped past the elliptical girls looking like a dipshit… couldn’t extend my legs all the way… it was really bad. Barely got to the water fountain, got down some water, sat down on a bench for 5 minutes.

Tried to do calves, I couldn’t lock out the leg press, so I called it a day.

Fuck me sideways.

JB, you’re closin in on my CGBP! Let’s see who can get a solid 8 with 315 first, yeah?

Bug, not gonna lie, I went into that exercise pissed off and motivated because you were whipping my ass so badly in it.

You’re on.

Ya I know, but sometimes you have to make a big jump like that to over come certain barriers.

Here is the video.

JB you look solid as hell man, a lot different then what I remember what you looking like.

Dont be fooled XB, a buzz cut and the right lighting makes all the differnce.

In all honesty, it is like something finally clicked, its like my body wised up and said, “shit, i guess he’s gonna keep pounding us with weights, we might as well start growing”

Nice work Bug.

Today’s Back and Biceps:

Barbell Rows:

175x5

Did hit a PR on rows though…looked back in my log book, and saw that last time I did Barbell Rows I hit 235x9…so I added 30 lbs and a rep, nothing to sneeze at. Guess all those Kroc Rows have paid off. Still have a little bit to go to catch up with bug though…and a long ways to catch Nate hahaha. But catch him I will.

I was like a kid in the candy store in the gym today.

EZ Bar Drag Curls
75x8
75x8

Half an hour on the bike.

Notes: Awesome being back in the gym and actually doing work again. It’s been 6 days since my last real workout and I loved it. I’m going to be praying I don’t re-fuck my shoulder(s) on wednesday because I hope to be starting a real power lifting type routine starting next monday. I’ve been reading about Sheiko 29, anyone have thoughts/advice/reasons why I shouldn’t?

Saw a semi-large guy in the 5 finger shoes today at the gym too, they look kind of cool if you have size. Also saw a guy doing mid shin rack deads, repping 365. That was a good change of pace.

JB will be purple nurpled. Must go shower and finish watching the browns.
