Broke my Wrist

I dislocated/broke my right wrist snowboarding yesterday. What would be the best thing to do while recovering for a month-month and a half. Should I workout one arm, or do cardio/abs, or just lower body in general. What do you guys suggest?

Ouch and Hapy New Year,

For my 2c.

I’d be very cautious for the first few weeks…so cardio/abs.

After that you can start leg work, machine based as I suspect holding a bar for a squat may be way too much to ask for.

About the fifth or sixth week you might be able to get into a squat. I wouldn’t do any arm work until the doctor has said you are good to go.

I broke my 5th metacarpal in my left hand this past summer when I wrecked my motorcycle. Didn’t run because my right knee was sore for a while too, and both knees were covered in road rash. I did hack squats, one hand clean and press, some ab work. There wasn’t much else I could do. Fortunately I wasn’t put in a cast so I could rehab the hand while it healed, and didn’t lose any mobility. It’s irritating, but remember it’s only temporary as long as you do your rehab and take care of it while it heals.

go to a gym with a safety squat bar

Get off the internet

So I have another question, when I can workout again, my muscles will be weaker, should I go back to my normal workout i’ve done before my injury, or work extra hard in the gym for a week or two or whatever to get my strength back up. My normal workout is the 5-3-1.

After say five weeks off your regular training, I’d look at allowing a three week ramping up to get back into it. I think it helps both physically and mentally. The latter from just getting confident the joint is now back in action.

I’d suggest just starting with reps and a much lower weight than normal, something in the 50% to 60% mark and see how it goes.

Okay thanks for your input

Avoid breaking the other one. Unless you got a good friend who doesn’t mind wiping your ass.

You can work out again, when the bones are healed and your Dr will tell you that.

Switch hands to fap.

Since you won’t have been able to do anything with that wrist for a while, you’ll probably have to work back into it over the course of a few weeks.

uh…are we still talking about fapping?

Never stopped.

So…any other advice? I should be working out my upper body, or atleast start to get back into it in a week or so.
