Breaking Up With My Gym

After 3 years I’ll be moving onto a new gym.
It’s almost like breaking up with a girl, except it hurts more.
Ahahaha

Finally, a gym with a power rack.
I can at last do squats!

One day, I aspire to find a gym with more than 1 squat rack. Right now, I just lift when nobody else is there, so I always have access to the lone rack, but I’d love to have multiple racks and not have to worry about the lone one being used for absurd things.

Right now, just having a squat rack is going to be like heaven. Unfortunately, the people who run the gym are complete doorknobs, but I’ll deal.

You spent 3 years at a gym that didn’t even have a power rack?

Unfortunately so. It’s right across the street, but now there is another one as well so I’m just gonna go there instead.

I broke up with my gym recently too. It was at the school where I did undergrad. Had to move away for grad work, and a long distance relationship was just not in the cards for the gym.

I’ll miss the oly platforms and 9 or so racks.

Gym I go to is the local community center and they have only one rack. Today I had to wait 15 mins so this guy could do messed up hang cleans…he was basically just power shrugging the weight. Come on man if I gotta wait at least use decent form.

Did you at least do DB squats and lunges or were u thankful for your leg extension machine?

So what and how much did you curl today?

I just did smith squats, those decline leg presses loaded up with weights and I would snag the barbell from the bench press and do front squats time to time. However, getting the weight up onto my shoulders was a bitch and a half so I could never really go heavier than 135lbs. ( I never had help for anything at my gym, no spots no nothing) But quad wise those were basicly what I did for the most part.

I didn’t curl I needed it for front squats. I haven’t curled in a while because I’ve been focusing on rowing/pullups.

I broke up with my gym once but then I found out that the single life wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be so we got back together.

My gym took me back but it made me pay and it never lets me live down the fact that I broke up with it.

I really know I should break up for good but I need to find a new gym first.

I made a very similar move last year. My old gym had only 1 squat rack and then got a power rack during my last month there - not many others there squatted anyway so it didn’t really matter. Problem at the new gym was that more people squatted and it was equipped the same. But the best thing about the new gym was that they had a preacher curl with a bb rack on the opposite side so nobody is forced to curl in the squat rack, which in nice.
